Hey everyone. It's been a while! Some quick updates: 1. Yes, some of my videos have been privatised. Hopefully not forever. 2. I have a lot of videos planned that require a lot of reading, research, and writing. With my writing two books and much more, my old pace just isn't sustainable. But I hope y'all will bear with me for more quality educational content at least once a month. 3. This video is much shorter and less in-depth than usual, but not to worry folks, a new solarpunk video is coming soon later this month. Stay tuned! Peace.☀️

💥 Yes! This is a great intro. One thing worth emphasizing: especifist groups have certain *kinds* of organizing in mind when it comes to social insertion. Their focus is on "mass level" organizing, that is, organizations whose members come together based on a shared exploitation, instead of shared ideology. The classic example of that is a labor union, but tenant unions, prison unions, and neighborhood assemblies also count. This focus is because of the structural power of those organizations in halting and ultimately overthrowing capital & the state. So especifist groups should be careful not to include traditional "activist" activities - e.g. mutual aid projects, co-ops, events aimed at other leftists, etc. - under the banner of social insertion. It doesn't mean they shouldn't be done, but we should be consistent with what our comrades have been using that term to mean.

as a brazilian anarchist involved with especifismo, my heart warms every time i hear St Drew talking about it, this ideas reaching more people, give me that little boost of morale thats so precious when living in the hellscape we all call capitalism. especifismo is not a magic bullet but is ONE of the tools we can use to bring this old world down so we can build whatever we feel necessary. @Werner Pfeifenberger a society that isn't based on exploiting people, manufacturing their consent, and indoctrinating them and coercing them into accepting it. When we say we want to bring the world down, we primarily want to bring *hierarchies* down, so everyone can enjoy their right to self-determination. (Though different folks may have different opinions to me, and this is a HEAVILY reduced version of my own views)

@Werner Pfeifenberger 1. A massive chunk of Spain durong the civil war was guided by anarchist principals, as was a massive chunk of Ukraine during the 1905 revolution, as is Rojava now. They build strong institutions that met the needs of people without using corsion. 2. It's about abolishing unjust hierarchies, not all hierarchies. You misunderstand what we're about. Hierarchies are self perpetuating, sure. They are not humanities default state of being though. 3. Self determination can, and is, limited and taken away by governments and other hierarchical institutions in our lives.

Thank you for the video. I try to learn more about leftist organisational strategies because we really need this in Russia, but it's difficult to fight feelings of hopelessness. My country's government got so proficient at violating human rights it can manage a genocidal invasion and internal oppression of all dissent at the same time. A few activists I know have been arrested and it's only getting worse. And I don't know what's more terryfing - watching people stubbornly deny reality like mass murder of civilians or watching people with previously no political standing turn into fucking neonazis. (I also feel shame complaining about this, because our brothers and sisters in Ukraine are dealing with so much more now).

You don't have to feel shameful about what is happening. It has been more than two decades now since Putin started his reign of terror over Russia and its neighbors, Westerners can't imagine how long, dreadful, and draining that must feel for the citizens who are aware of his tyranny. It's not like you guys have voted him in, considering he's been manipulating the votes since day 1.

The role of anarchists in opposing bureaucratisation and leadership within larger popular organisations is vital in preventing opportunism, personality politics and careerism. But two questions come to my mind. 1. How should anarchists reconcile the need to combat reformism (a historically discredited strategy which does not imagine or implement a qualitative change the social relations of production) with people's tendency to put faith in the easiest-looking path towards "progress," as a psychological defence mechanism amid the horror of capitalism? How can popular organisations be directed away from such recurrent errors? 2. How does an anarchist organisation implementing the suggestions in this video differ from a Leninist organisation implementing the mass line and the three tiers of mass organisation, intermediate cadres and vanguard party?
@Andrewism
@Andrewism 2 жыл бұрын
1) Through mass education of reformist failures and active demonstration of the vitality of the alternative. 2) the horizontal structure of this organisational method is what distinguishes it from the hierarchical structure of Leninist parties.
@enjolras9914
@enjolras9914 2 жыл бұрын
@@Andrewism Leninist parties are not hierarchical. The only thing is the unity in action (strike as one giant person), when action needs it everyone has to stick to the last vote on the topic and act. However the rest of the time it´s possible to debate, try to convince your comrades and vote again and again. Don’t mistake hierarchy and disciplin. Zapatists themselves underline the importance of discipline (and I’m sure it´s the case in Rojava too, they practise it anyway ahah). If you have an evil vision of what communism is, you won’t know it’s the same thing you present here but with a lot of theory (whereas 6 anarchists out of 10 (?) will disagree with especifismo, and on the other hand anarchists organisations always deny they’re organisations, and therefore abort their attempts of organizing by not being able of looking at it as it is, talk about it etc). I’m french so not the same references but i guess i can recommand you to check left voice, it´s our party in USA. If you want to discuss with them I’m sure you’ll see anarchists are not the only ones (at all, trotskysm comes from there) who have fought bureaucratisation.

@@Andrewism your video sounds like Mandel’s texts. The only difference is to say : « despite all our common points, we’re not vanguard, we’re just a minority of people conscious of the politic we’re doing, trying to influence the social movements with a shared (=centralised) long-term strategy and analisis, but definitly not vanguard, so our links with the movements are not cooptation, only your’s are. We better than you because though doing the exact same things, we label it in a cool, innocent way. »

@@enjolras9914 democratic centralism psychologically devolves into unity of thought. It is utopian to believe that the party leaders will accept criticism when they have an excuse to silence it in the name of "unity in action." I do not think that all leninist leaders are cynical opportunists, in fact quite often they are true to their ideology. The issue is that when dissent is made taboo in the name of "unity" or "discipline" it allows the leaders to get stuck in their ways and be unable to respond to the REAL needs and desires of the people they are supposed to be leading/representing, even if they have every desire to genuinely do so.

One of the dangers of this sort of thinking (at least according to my personal experience) consists of larger anarchist organizations, consiously or unconsiously, trying to dominate over smaller ones, in a sort of hegemonical way. I think that diversity (of everything) is an important part of anarchist organization and it is much better to form alliances than a large group snuffing out the smaller ones.

Thank you so muuuuuch for your work, it is truly a gift to anarchists and leftists all people as a whole (just as all of human progress and potential is!), I especially love the part about Usfruct Collective, and the use of the term "libertarian socialist" as an anarchist philosophy (as all leftist philosophy is eventually haha). its a shame so called "anarchists" and so called "Marxist-Leninists" who have lead many successful revolutions and organizations throughout the world, have such a difficult time working together as we anarchists can learn very well about organization from them and us keeping the focus on voluntary and mutual-aid based decision making. Organization and democratic cohesion is the sward and shield of the proletariat! I (an 'ancom' who follows the "stateless, classless, moneyless, (and ideally post-scarcity/industrialized) society" definition of communism and therefore that *true* 'anarchist/libertarian society' and 'communism' are synonymous, I view anarchism *as* communism (and perhaps even under the name of "libertarianism" because just like capitalism is incompatible with "anarchism" capitalism is incompatible with libertarian society (the term "libertarian", basically meaning a society designed around achieving 'liberty' or "creating maximal freedom", which can only be done under anarchism/communism) I am small but I have a short (and a tad old) video on the subject of 'rebranding' "Fully Automated Gay/Queer Space Communism", to "Automated Interplanetary/stellar libertarianism", or 'AIL' for short, (similar to the idea of adopting the bright and prosperous 'Solar-Punk' aesthetic out of the dark and depressing Cyber-Punk aesthetic) Link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y9hhi66f28jOnKc.html edit: I also have a (currently) free and open discord server designed SPICIFICALLY around organization and mutual aid though discussion/good faith debate for the purpose of leftist unity (bringing so called "anarchists" and "ML's" together and to understand each others ideology (again for the position of leftist unity and better class solidarity called "Leftist Win-Fighting" haha and anyone who reads this, please feel free to join! I've seen some statement that when we attach so deeply to the idea of leaderlessness, we limit our communities' initiatives and power. And rather use term Autonomist Leadership as antithesis to authority, describing the very unique, fluid form of power dynamics that's usually born within anarchist movements.

I think this stems from a misunderstand of especifismo, especifist groups, and their relation to the broader struggle. Especifist groups do not seek to centralise movements or bring them under some sort of party hierarchy. It may sound similar in some respects on paper, but in practice Leninist parties and especifist groups operate very differently. Check out the resources in the description for further details.

Have you watched Vijay Prashad's recent keynote address about the importance of cultural work for bringing about radical social change? (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oZOCec-JktrRZHU.html ) (Vijay is not an anarchist per se, but a nonsectarian Marxist philosopher and activist.)

Hi great video, Love them. Im aware it has nothing to do with your video. I just like your opinion on World economic forum, and the great reset from Klaus Schwab, because it scares me a lot. All power to all the People✊🏿✊🏼✊🏻

I feel like the first step would be to not admit that you’re anarchists - you should have no attachment to this word and reject using it the way you would reject all labels
