I followed yall back when you first started your youtube page & covered my head. My family was mean to me about it & it is such a scary thing to stans out so much especially in my culture. So many of the women around me are vulgar, drunks, very sexual, etc. I dont say that to be mean to them because I am FAR from perfect and trying to come back closer to God..but its just the truth. I feel like I get scared not fitting in since I already am weird and talk about my faith often. I am going to talk to my husband about this. Last time I wore head coverings and skirts I wasn't married so it was easier to make decisions in regards to myself. The fact I keep coming back to these kind of videos I think means something

You can do it! I grew up “going to church,” but am just now developing my faith. I’ve actually struggled with some of those very things but I’m choosing now to leave it all behind because my walk with Christ is more important to me. I cry thinking about the terrible things I’ve done and that Jesus had to carry that with him to the grave b4 he rose. But now that I KNOW bc God has been moving in my life etc. I’m going to gladly be the black sheep of my family bc our shepherd so to speak Jesus is guiding us and loves us so much. It’s easy to grow weary but our faith is powerful let’s pray for those around us bc having Been around so many others like the ones in your family who call you wierd and having struggled greatly with those things myself I know how hopeless life is and how painful it is to struggle with those things and see relashionships crumble etc. being the living person you are you can be that person for them Choosing to not go with the grain And they can see how your love and example of peace through Christ in modesty etc. can led them to him and The love they have been searching for.

Pastor Mark talks about popular culture and how head covering is not part of our culture. But aren't almost most traditions and cultural norms tied in with religion and their practice? So why would head covering not be a part of a christian majority nation like the US? But on the flip side; are we as christians to look exactly like the worldly people without any difference between a practicing christian and a pagan? Aren't we called to swim against the flow? Aren't we called to be set apart, a holy nation and a peculiar people? How then are you going to advocate to go ahead and follow the popular culture when the word has very clear instructions on this matter. If in doubt, why not err on the side of caution and follow what the book says rather than lead people astray with elaborate explanations to fit the popular culture and please your audience? You can't be punished for following it but you could be punished not for following it. Why not err on the side of caution?

after studying this topic , I have actually found places in the Old Testament talking about being covered. Gen 24 :64-65 with Rebekah meeting her new husband . She put on a veil and covered herself as they met. Numbers 5 :18 tells of the woman needing to come before the priest for a test of whether she had committed adultery and says for this test "Then the priest shall stand the woman before the LORD, uncover the woman's head," This means it was covered before she was asked to uncover it in the test. It is also mentioned in the reverse in Isaiah 47 :2 -3 talking of the Humiliation of Babylon as removing the veil being a shame and a nakedness being uncovered. If taking it off as a nation was a shame then being covered would remain a protection. Im thankful for all of your study because it made me search further and not just look in the New Testament. Some disregard whats in the Old Test but the largest part of scripture on it is those 1 Cor verses. Im excited to see we can dig deeper and find more in the entire bible as well.

While finding Godly women who cover their heads are a rarity, finding godly women should not be as difficult. Ask around in your church if you're newer or its longer. People who've been around for a while will know who meets the description you're looking for. In the mean time, books can be your friend as you learn at a distance. "The Excellent Wife" by Martha Peace is a great starting point for you and "The Exemplary Husband" by Stuart Scott a great companion book for your husband.

This is an excellent discussion. I have listened to your response and then I went to listen to Driscoll's remarks. One thing that stands out to me is at the end when he says that wearing the headcovering might work against the principle that underlies the practice (wearing a headcovering to show submission). What do you think he is implying here? He never really explains how wearing a headcovering could be destructive to godly order in our culture. Any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated.
@LeoRegum
@LeoRegum 5 жыл бұрын
I thought about that as well. I suppose on Mark's view if wearing a covering were a sign of being a prostitute then he would say it would work against the principle underlying the practice. I have heard others complain it might make people think the women in the Church are mohammedans or other silly things. The problem though is that there is no concern (in my reading at least) for the impressions of those outside the Church as to what the covering signifies, the main concern is for the Church and the angels, so it is a non-discussion to begin with.

André Chouraqui Bible Version gives us the accurate translation of Apostle Paul's greek text corresponding to 1st Corinthians 11 verse 15 by saying woman's long hair is an ornamentation . woman's long hair like man's hair are coverings , but they're skull's coverings and are both called ornaments . Woman's long hair is a natural ornament like man's hair is a natural ornament. So , according to Apostle Paul Woman's long hair is a glorious ornament ; she needs a large scarf to cover her hair or her glory or her glorious ornament in the glorious presence of God according to 1st Corinthians 11 verse 7.

It amazes me how very good preachers when it comes to 1Cor 1:11-16 that is against the worlds standard, they are reluctant to preach on such a passage and when they do and once they have finished the passage means exactly the opposite to what is so clear by just simply reading through it. The same preacher will stand against other wordly ideas but it seams feminism is so well entrenched in society and also in the church today that they dare not touch that.

Corinthians 11:6 is the key verse. If she has no covering while assembling, then her hair should be cut off. So hair and the covering cannot be the same thing. Indeed, this is proven by the man not to have a 'covering' on his head when praying to God. If hair was the 'covering' then he would have to cut his off each time before prayers, or of course be bald........{;o;}

Hi, I'm from Northern Ireland so slightly different context but interested in your help. I wasn't raised in what I would call a Christian background but my wife was. Issue is that she was raised in a church with no real understanding about why headcovering was important and a high level of legalism rather than love around it. She ran from church but Jesus saved us both. We have never attended a church with headcovering as the dominant practice since marriage though and always considered it cultural. Recently I have made a new friend who believes in it and has actually challenged me. I think I am settled on the belief now but my wife has a long way to go still because of church hurt. I have a question. Is there any better answer around the Holy kiss thing? I need more than what was presented. I don't want to kiss people lol but I see no real reason why this is different. It seemed a bit waffley. I also want to just say I like what Mike winger has to say on the statue thing. I think it makes alot of sense so it might be worth watching his video. It is actually part of the reason I moved this way. Might be worth challenging him in a debate as I think what he has missed is the baptism and communion comparison as cultural practices. That would be a great video

Paul doesn't mention 'because of the angels' out of nowhere. That makes zero sense in context - he has ALREADY BEEN EXPLAINING IT and LEADING UP TO IT (for this cause) in the previous verses. Almost NO one ever gets this! WHY? Because of this goofy "rebellious sinning angels" doctrine (which is unbiblical). Paul has been talking about man and woman IN THE BEGINNING - which involved the ELOHIM (mighty ones) - the ANGELS.

Hi T John, it sounds like you're assuming head covering is connected with salvation or that someone wouldn't receive tongues if there was any disobedience or sin in their lives. This is the reason we have so many different denominations in Christianity, because we continue to interpret the Bible the way we want it to be. The Bible is clear. God is not the author of confusion. Doesn't matter what the context or culture is, the commands of God is very clear. Women cover your head/hair, men remove your hats when praying or prophesying. This is not very complex, it's fairly straight forward scripture. I'm disappointed that Mark Driscoll tries to appease his base by teaching falsely

Hebrews 1 13 And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? I Peter 1 10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. The angels serve the children of God by ministering us as God commands. The angels did not have a chance at salvation but sinful humans do. The angels long to look into or desire to understand salvation and God's plan. I have long championed head coverings to little avail. The above scriptures have been a slow meditation for years. I get a sense of a few things. It is respectful of us to obey God's order because our disobedience makes more work for the angels who never rebelled or had a chance at salvation. Two, it confuses the angels to see us rebel and repent after we are saved. This might also make their work harder. Three, when the assembly is properly ordered and maturing then our Lord Jesus Christ is exhaulted and God gets all the glory as it is in Heaven. This in turn helps the angels see God's plan of redemption unfold and thus helps them look into these things. I would not say these are definite revelations yet but I am confident I am following the Holy Spirit's guidance. I love your point about the appeal to the angels countering the false teaching that head coverings are ubiquitous in time and location. I never latched on to that. I will certainly plan to going forward. Thank you. I am curious to know if you obey the Lord Jesus Christ's commandments in I Corinthians 14 about orderly gatherings? The first evangelical assembly I attended followed some of the commandments given there. I have longed to labour in the building of an assembly that is a real interwoven community that honors I Corinthians. It is amazing to realize this disorder was a part of God's punishment in the garden of Eden. Women's proper, natural desire to submit to her husband was replaced by her sinful desire to rule him as sin ruled Cain. Women wearing head coverings, not teaching, not exorcising authority over men, and remaining silent during assemblings for services are commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ. Obedience to them is Paramount for the assembly to grow and nature thus enabling greater spiritual conquest. Does much of the assembly in America today fight and win spiritual battles to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ? It is hard to believe it when we see how disordered and fragmented the body has become. I do believe a massive revival is coming. Returning to proper authority as God commands of God - the Lord Jesus Christ - man - woman is a crucial step in seeing God pour out His Holy Spirit in a massive wave to radically change the world. It is so interesting that Satan has recently advanced powerfully in the gender wars. I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into meditations and studies about the word ekklesia and how the church is really an assembly or a community. Its blocks living stones. It's head stone our risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Hallelujah. You can call or email me if you ever want to make plans to talk and pray. God bless, Marc Strusa marc.strusa@gmail.com

Wearing a head covering over the head, while displaying long beautiful length of hair on display, hanging down the back, that is undeniably attractive and admired.......it is distracting, whether envied by women and/or attractive to men. Traditional Christian women in older denominations have worn head coverings over pinned up hair. The hair is covered. Their beautiful long hair is not on display, and certainly not during prayer. Why are these newer denominations okay with displaying long hair in public during prayer???

Are you seeking new commandments? We put ourselves under the authority of God and the custom in those days was for women to have long hair or cover as a symbol of this. For a man, where does the length of hair become offensive; beyond the length of the modern Catholic based depiction of Christ? As God is unchanging, was the hair of Samson offensive to God or was it his rebellious lifestyle? Context starts in the rest of the epistle but extends across the word of God. No, a man is a Jew because he is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise does not come from men, but from God.

Good thing I don't take Driscoll seriously-false teacher that he is. He keeps adding tidbits to the text. Authority of the husband over the wife 'in the home'...text doesn't say that. He adds 'if she wants to' regarding having long hair. Again the text doesn't say that. He is also putting cultural issues into Corinth that aren't described in the text or historically-I think he is the first that describes Corinth having an issue with the gender binary. I don't believe there is a 'disregard for God's rules' evident in Corinth. If I'm not mistaken, Paul was praising them for following the ordinance but was giving a more detailed explanation why the ordinance existed. In other words-It seems MD is well practiced and comfortable with adding to scripture.
