I'm the owner of a 2023 Mazda MX-30 GS as my first EV because I like the look & finish and the way it handles. Price wise, it's pretty good as Mazda offers a 4000$ rebate and another 12000$ in rebates from the federal & provincial governments (Quebec, Canada). I have to say I use it as a second vehicle to do all my shopping/groceries/meetings etc... all within 40 km from my house and I won't use it during winter time (October 31 to may 01). I understand the range is said to be 160 km but I've done more than 180 km on rural roads & city roads and it was showing15% left! But if you're looking for a primary vehicle for all year around, you should consider an EV with a 360 km minimum range knowing that in winter time when it's really cold (-20c +), you'll be using "heating/heated seats/heated streering etc..." which will have a negative impact on the range (minus 40% +) and it will take longer to charge. 😊 Average 15.9 kwh but I keep my speed within 15 km/h of speed limit. 😊

Iam not so sure we will be ready for awhile. Still infrastructure challenges more so in rural areas. Plus why all these short ranges.

We have it as a second car (but do 80-90% of our travell in it). We really like it, and when we go further, we take the diesel. The range is no issue for us. Great review by the way!

Great review as always Jay but I have to to tell ya, not feeling this vehicle at all. Thumbs down on this one. Looks like Mazda bringing back Saturn with the rear doors.

Hi, hows the range in Winter in Quebec? Do you think I will have an issue doing 70KM one way?

We’re in the Toronto area so we can’t comment on Quebec driving conditions or range. It’ll be a bit dicey to do 140km if you’re running HVAC functions…

@@fredericktam8726 Ah he’s, the QC plate. Mazda Canada moved this vehicle from their QC media fleet to Ontario so local journalists and reviewers could experience it. All testing by Steph and me was done in Mississauga and Toronto.

I live in France, so climate is a bit warmer. Range in winter time is around 160 KM and 200 KM in summer. No issues when charging with a 50 KW charger. Great car to drive, very relaxing and comfy, no noise cabin especially when fake engine noise is desactivated. Average year consumption is 18 KW.

This is one of the nicest cars in a long time. But it's an awful price. If Mazda could have increased the battery to 45KwHr and kept the same price, it might have been more compelling. 100 mile range is fierce messing around after a decade of EV evolution. Pity . . .
