In the 1920’s my widowed grandmother was gatekeeper at Yafforth, what a pity this line is not extended to castle Bolton and beyond what a great tourist/holiday asset it would be. In my childhood a neighbour was guard on this line rode up to garsdale head each day. What a visual delight that must have been

Would've been great if the Redmire to Hawes section was preserved in the 60s, then some more once that closed!
