I'm starting 2016 with one of the biggest questions of all - does God exist?
Now, before the hate comments roll in, I know that people's religious and spiritual beliefs are a very sensitive topic and I only present this to explain my own beliefs and thoughts on the subject. Take what you like, leave what you don't. But we're all cool here, dig?

Vacillation is not enlightenment. When it takes 12 minutes to say, I have no idea....how are you enlightened? We understand less than 5% of what comprises this "universe". ( and how it works. ) There is a book entitled "We have no idea".....which lays this out. ( and it is far larger than A Brief History of Time. ) 27% is believed to be "dark matter", which we know "exists", but nothing more. The rest has been labeled "dark energy", which may exist! ( and nothing else.) Can you say you have been enlightened concerning the composition and mechanics of this universe? For this question, however, you have all the evidence you require...so there is no need to vacillate. Most people, do not vacillate, and they have no evidence to support their claims. How is not pointing this fact out not elegant? He didn't bring anyone together, although he no doubt, encouraged the people who do not have evidence, and do not vacillate, that he may be a candidate for conversion....of course, the problem here is, there are so many choices, and you have to get it right. And they can't all be right, but they all can be wrong. Now that's mind blowing enlightenment.....( but most minds seems to resist enlightenment, and do it with certainty...making the whole concept of what a mind is, quite inelegant. )

@@jgalt308 , Coffee does not vacillate and god is in coffee. Since coffee takes us to a higher state of awareness (or DMT for that matter, and all mind expansion drugs as well under that same umbrella), we must agree that what we are and what we ingest comprises our collective consciousness...that "connection" could be what brings us to the conclusion that god exists within all of us at a fundamental particle level. While I'm being silly in this explanation, I'm also being fundamentally philosophical as well. You don't know if god exists, but you also can't prove that god doesn't exist. All you or I or anyone has is this state of consciousness and your own specific brand of reality. We are flawed monkey-things trying to make sense of it all with limited perception and cognition. I think we are doing an amazing job so far. Joe is no exception in this matter. So to exclaim he is vacillating is a cop out on your part sir. He's doing his best to approach the matter with the tool set he has. And while I can agree with you both to a certain degree, I am unconvinced that any of us will figure this crap out in my lifetime. So, go with god, Buddha, Allah or any deity that suits your fancy...or not. It is entirely up to you. I go with uncertainty and I'm good with that. If that is vacillation in your opinion, then you aren't giving the fact that what we know is incredibly limited a fair shake...and that is you vacillating, not Joe. Keep in mind, he is trying to seek answers. You may not like his conclusion, but at least he is trying. What are you doing? Knowing? I highly doubt that, even more than the question of whether god exists...
@jgalt308
@jgalt308 5 жыл бұрын
Trying to seek answers to what? And repeating the "politically correct" vacillation of what is essentially an allusion to a vague suggestion of agnosticism, which has "precise" elements, is not seeking "anything"......since agnosticism is an "answer", while the pretense of weakening it to mean, "I don't know" or hoping it will be interpreted to mean that, is VACILLATION. Being alive in the "present" gives one a far greater "tool set", than has ever been available, so to claim he is making use of it, to seek answers, for this question is unsupported, and your use of logical fallacy as a defense, fails. That we remain "flawed monkey-things" is due to the refusal to use the tools and the rules of logical reasoning, and continuing to fail to understand or accept, on whom or where the burden of proof lies, is also not trying. Assertions regarding the existence of god, or a collective consciousness or unconsciousness require evidence to support them, and if you have none, then I need do nothing to refute, whatever you claim to believe, except to continue to expose, the fact, that you have no evidence. Since Joe spends most of his time discussing matters of science, he is no stranger to either the tools or the processes of science. Your grasp of them, at the moment is "questionable"? Still you are responding to a response directed at someone else, and probably "missed" my direct response to this video, hiding among the 3000 plus comments, so I shall copy it for you, and paste it as a reply to this one and which may make things clearer, as to the nature and reasons for my "objection" and the reasons why it is "vacillation".
@jgalt308

On the titles.....Does god exist? & ( Is There ) A Scientific Explanation For God? The "problem" with this endless debate, is that it is not really a "debate" at all, but circular nonsense, whose proposition attempts to connect two non-related conditions, which have no commonality....and the attempt by one of them, to "impose" itself on the "other", by making further "assumptions" regarding the "characteristics" of the first condition as if they were "relevant and/or meaningful" to the conditions, and there for the "behavior" required in the second. The questions above "illustrate" the confusion that persists by the continued failure to recognise this distinction.....which arises from the "assumption" that the questions are 1.) Valid on their own merits. and 2.) Valid in juxtaposition. ( when taken together.) For the purpose of linguistic precision, the first question is valid, but it assumes the argument in the positive, so it is not posed in the proper form, and this confusion is exacerbated by the second question, which without clarification, is incomplete and it's imprecision, again confuses the two non related conditions, cited above. Taken as written, neither of these questions is an accurate representation of the question that is the "subject" of the debate...which is the following: Did "god" cause or was "god" the cause.. of the existence of the universe. Since the "universe" is the "effect"...and we are stuck in the "effect", in order to make the first question consistent with this fact, the proper form of this question should be: Is there evidence (scientific) for the existence of god? And to make it consistent which the actual question it would need to be expressed as : Is there any evidence ( scientific ) that god caused the universe to exist? The second question, now becomes even more "nebulous"....because given the imprecision of the first question, the second demands even further elaboration. ( Is there ) A scientific explanation for god? which immediately prompts; as what? As the "cause" of the universe? ( and many "others" that are not particularly nice or relevant to the "actual" question, if it had been composed accurately.) The 12 minutes of vacillation that follows proceeds to mangle all the "elements" involved, mashing them together beyond recognition...including what "agnosticism" is, which has two precisely defined elements as it pertains to the question of god. 1.) That there is no evidence for god. (scientifically observable and demonstrated) 2.) That certain conceptual elements of existence are ultimately unknowable. i.e. The Absolute, infinity, eternity, etc. And as indicated by Joe, this second element seems to have implications for aspects of the physical universe as well......at both the micro and macro extremes. Whatever the motivation here, whether it is "political correctness, apologetics of some sort, or click bait" it's ultimate effect is to continue the "circular nonsense" of a debate, that is in fact, not a debate, because these questions are irrelevant.....and those who are stuck on the "empirical side".....find themselves on the defensive, because of the "incompleteness" of our physical understanding of the "universe"...and for some strange reason, fail to enter the debate on the metaphysical side, which makes absolutely no sense, because the rules of logical reasoning, consistency and parsimony, apply here as well, which means.....THERE IS NO DEBATE....the matter has been resolved.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HOW YOU ANSWERED THIS QUESTION. :) I also grew up in an evangelical setting, and had a positive experience... and then also came to having questions that didn't seem to really have good answers. But I've also felt like there is so much to the emotional/spiritual side of life, and that there must be a way to engage with it, without being irrational or just trusting feelings because feelings aren't a trustworthy source of truth or accurate knowledge. And most of all, I LOVE how you finished with how, if there is some kind of judgement, you think it would be around if we united people, and that you want most to unite people. Absolutely amazing and well put. I feel the same way.

@Joe Scott, I understand you were brought up in a christian household and believed in your forefather's religion and whatever people told you because you didn't know about other faiths. When things started complicated you became an atheist without looking into any other faith. But you have to look deeply into every other explanation for reality before you came to a conclusion. You have to look into every faith isms and schism with a sincere heart before you make a decision. Search for the truth by yourself and find the answer. Don't believe someone else tells you blindly. So that you can find the truth. Ask questions and try to find the answers and compare different faiths. Do you think God created the universe just for fun and the answer can't be known? If there is God he must have sent guidance. And it's out there and it would be clear. If you search you will find it. If you follow speculations it would not lead you to the truth. If christianity does not make sense that doesn't mean God does not exist. Look into other faiths. Look into Islam. Don't judge something by what people say or what the media says. Look into Islam and other religions with a sincere heart. Islam is the only religion with pure monotheism out there. We believe in Jesus but we see him as a prophet and not as the son of God. He didn't die for our sins. Nobody else will bear anyone else's sins. Everyone will bear their own sins. God forgives if you ask for forgiveness. No God does not need your help or your money. There is only one God. And he is not an old man in the sky. We don't believe that. We believe the creator is unlike his creation. I suggest you read the Quran quran.com Science absolutism is absurd. Science can't prove everything. It changes. It's based on observations. Everything in science could change if a new theory emerges. At the end of the day what we want is the truth. Unbiased truth. So search sincerely. No matter how sweet or bitter it is. If you are unsure about which path to take pray to your creator, Ask your creator "if you are there guide me to your religion". And study every faith with a sincere heart. If you are sincere and want to believe in truth God will guide you.

It is a sensational and captivating angle to the issue but this is by no means an authentic scientific approach to the issue of god(s). The genuine scientist's approach will be to investigate the biological/anthropological/sociological reasons why humans adhere to religion (god concepts). Asking "is there a god?" as a scientific question unfortunately gives undue credibility to religious thought which unfortunately emboldens these retrograde ideas that have nothing to contribute to the evolution of the human experience.

I think you did a good job of handling the slippery slope of this discussion in a non-offensive manner. Usually this brings out the unreasonable in people that are otherwise reasonable. I will say I view meditation different in my case, in that I view it as thinking deeply about a subject instead of thinking about nothing. As far as this topic, I think Isaac Newton has some very interesting writings on this subject. I think as far as the bible (where some look for answers about God) goes, often people begin with assumptions without first considering whether or not it actually agrees with what's written there. Often people agree with things that people they respect tell them, without taking the time to investigate the information for themselves. Whether you are talking about the Bible or the writings of Charles Darwin, often people have formed an opinion without reading either. Thank you for expressing how you feel. That took courage.

I’m an atheist and always have been, unlike the rest of my family... I personally think man created God as a way to explain the unexplainable and as a way to create basic laws we should all live by (though the Ten Commandments take quite a beating). As for meditation... I practice this myself. Sadly, I have yet to have one of these enlightened experiences, but I don’t know if it’s that you’re actually communicating with a higher power, the conscience of others or if you’re just tapping into parts of your brain you never use. I really think you handled this question quite well. You were honest in your own experience of questioning the existence of God and you’re current views on the subject and your answer didn’t seem to piss off any people of faith. In fact, I’m going to save this video, take a few notes and the next time someone is freaking out on me, telling me I’m going to Hell for being an atheist, I’ll be sure to bring some of these points up. Thanks, Joe!

+hamid Shokri, Technically though, everyone is either a theist or an atheist, and everyone is either gnostic or agnostic. Theist vs atheist is a belief claim, do you BELEIVE a god(s) exist or do you NOT believe a god(s) exist? this is purely your belief on the subject. the next question is a Knowledge claim. Do you KNOW that you are right? or do you NOT know that you are right? So, that leaves 4 positions, gnostic theist, someone who believes a god(s) exist, and knows this to be true. An agnostic theist, Someone who believes a god(s) exist, but does not know this to be true. A gnostic atheist, someone who does not believe that a god(s) exist, and knows this to be true, and an agnostic atheist, someone who does not believe a god(s) exist and does not know this to be true. Every single person falls into one of these 4 categories.

Azrael Exlibris It is not possible to not have a belief one* [edited this word, it used to say "on"] way or the other. You may not have a strong belief, but you will still have a weak one. You either believe a god(s) exist or do not believe a god(s) exist. Thus you are either a theist or an atheist. the agnostic vs Gnostic claim is ONLY the strength of the belief. If you believe that you are 100% right, then you are a Gnostic, if you are unsure, then you are agnostic, there is no other position. Since agnostic is a claim about how sure you are, then it is IMPOSSIBLE to be an agnostic without having a belief, since again, agnostic vs Gnostic is a claim on knowledge, which is based on a claim of belief. A simple explanation: www.stanleycolors.com/2013/07/atheism-vs-theism-vs-agnosticism-vs-gnosticism-a-simple-guide-to-know-what-the-hell-you-are/ A more in depth explanation: evolvingthoughts.net/2011/07/atheism-agnosticism-and-theism-4-existence-claims/

no I absolutely do not have any believes about God, just because you can't doesn't mean I can't as well. I do not believe in anything at all in such regards. that's why I call myself an agnostic, or to quote Thomas Henry Huxley :"Agnosticism is of the essence of science, whether ancient or modern. It simply means that a man shall not say he knows or believes that which he has no scientific grounds for professing to know or believe." I deem this false necessity for believes as one of the greatest hindrances in the development of the human minds.
@eragon78
@eragon78 7 жыл бұрын
Azrael Exlibris by saying that you absolutely have no beliefs about god means that you know NOTHING of the argument around it. Just making sure you know that. Also, again, Agnostic Atheism is NOT claiming god does not exist, nor is it "professing to know". It is a belief in the sense that it is perfected over the alternative of Theism, but that is only because of the applied tool of Occam's Razor which assumes the base position of Atheism since atheism requires less assertions than theism. However, it is not asserting that Theism is false. There is a lack of knowledge, however a belief is still held. [through Occam's razor.] Also, the question of if it is possible to not have a belief on a subject is a very deep question on human psychology, and it is still unanswered. [although, the presumed answer is no.] It is similar to the question "is is possible to lack an opinion" and "is it possible to lack ANY bias". Also, how does this hinder the development of the minds? Just because someone has a belief does NOT mean they stop considering other possibilities. Again, agnostic atheism is a good example, you are saying that you do not believe a god exist, but are uncertain of that claim. You are open to the possibility of one existing. It is essentially the position of a skeptic. Continue to question, while holding the most likely belief to be true in the mean time. Explain how lacking a belief would be better? [or even different than something like agnostic atheism? or other claims.]

@hahagotcha!!!! Obviously, you know nothing of morality, and you are clearly immoral, since your 3rd sentence violates a Commandment when you disrespect your Creator. The Ten Commandments are the moral compass of the West. Most of the basic human evils are listed, and forbidden: envy, theft, murder, dishonoring God and your parents; don't cheat on your spouse, don't crave and covet what others have, and perhaps the most violated Commandment in modern society: never bear false witness! In other words, never lie to cause another person harm, or grief. This doesn't just apply in court, either. It applies to malicious gossip, and to casual comments about someone that are intended to cause them problems of any kind. You seem to believe that human society doesn't evolve; that it is exactly the same now as it was 3,000 years ago. But society evolves constantly. The Old Testament was a necessary way of living in that society; basic survival required harsh measures. But the New Testament turned over a new leaf, emphasizing love over retribution. Looks like you got stuck in the Old Testament. Time to MovOn, amigo.

It certainly says something about our possible connections to each other and the greater universe, but is that really a 'higher power'? Anymore than saying that the sun is a 'higher power' in the sense that the sun outputs more life-giving and life-destroying energy than you ever could in a billion lifetimes? I think it's certainly plausible (and even likely) that a power or intelligence greater than ourselves can exist, and that it's connected to us in some deep way, but even if it does, do we still call it God? And is it infallible and all powerful? Is this greater power truly infinite, and if not, does it still qualify as a god? What exists beyond that power?
@Cyba_IT_NZ
@Cyba_IT_NZ 6 жыл бұрын
Carakav Interesting questions and ones that I've been trying to answer for a while now. I think it is possible that there was life out there (not necessarily a "higher power") as consciousness must have come from somewhere initially. I think a biblical god is highly unlikely as there is zero evidence as of today of anything supernatural existing. The bible and all other religious texts were written by men to try and explain the universe and shouldn't be taken as truth. The truth is, no one knows. Abiogenesis and the theory of evolution partly explain how we came to be naturally but as Joe said consciousness is the big quandary and the gap in scientific knowledge that is yet to be filled.
@Cyba_IT_NZ
@Cyba_IT_NZ 6 жыл бұрын
Carakav you could say consciousness initiated with a spark in our very, very earliest ancestors and with evolution over billions of years as we evolved physically we evolved mentally. Being social animals needing a higher intelligence than other animals to hunt and survive our brains grew and the offshoot was that we became knowledgeable in other areas as well. It's just a question of the probability and chance of that initial spark happening. Maybe the conditions were so perfect that it did happen by chance and I'm here now writing my musings in a KZfaq comment. There are approx 2 billion observed galaxies and maybe infinitely more out there so life naturally occuring on one seems improbable but not necessarily impossible.
@Carakav
@Carakav 6 жыл бұрын
I'm still not entirely convinced that consciousness itself is all that special. I mean, to me it almost sounds like a new flavor of the same old assertion that humans must have souls: an ill-defined and unobservable something that is both tied to flesh and yet also apart from it. All anyone can say for sure is that they are experiencing this moment, and at first it seems like this is the only real truth that you can know for sure: that you are conscious and thinking, but your experience of this moment is so fungible and dependent on long, short, and moment-to-moment memories that no one can really pin-down what an experience even is? My go-to example is deja-vu. Everyone has experienced the sensation of reliving a moment, and for the observer it truly does feel like time travel or precognition... but it's neither of those things. It's just your brain filtering incoming data through your pathways that usually associate with memory, either in error or by accident. So you end up processing the moment both as something happening in real time, and as something that has already happened. Imagine that you had NO memories. Not just no long term memories, but no short term memories either. Imagine that you couldn't even draw a line of affect between this very second, and the second just prior to it. Could a conscious mind exist in such a state of perfect constant disunity with cause and effect or the passage of time? I assert that it can't: your 'experience' of this moment is defined by your very ability to comprehend what's happening from moment to moment, that this moment is somehow different than the last one and worthy of regard, and to place it within the context of the passage of time. The moment you even try to regard a 'moment', that moment has already passed. So it would seem to me that consciousness itself is just the same sort of illusion that deja-vu is: you only feel like your experiencing this moment, because your brain is wired to make you feel that way. I don't deny that I'm experiencing this moment, or thinking about these words, but at the same time things like the blue/white dress and other illusions force me to admit that even my own understanding of my experience could be in error. If I assert that I'm conscious, or that I'm experiencing an interaction with a higher power or a force beyond me, how can I honestly say that it is thus? In the end, the easiest people to fool are ourselves... and if we truly accept that wisdom, then how can we assert that consciousness itself isn't just another trick?

This is why I prefer ignostic over agnostic or atheist. When someone asks "do you believe in god?" it's based on what THEY think god is. So you need a pretty precise question to give any sort of answer. If god simply is "everything", that's it. No rules, no specific history etc. Then you can likely say yes. Then god is simply word substitution for "everything". The more you break it down and specific you get, the more people will have disagreement. (Even among those in the same faith.) So before you could possibly answer "Do you believe in god?" You have to first ask the question, what EXACTLY is god? After you answer that, I can tell you yes or no.
@DustinRodriguez1_0
@DustinRodriguez1_0 7 жыл бұрын
That is the key, yes. There are many different conceptions of god. But if someone asks you if you believe god exists, I think it can be reasonably assumed that they are asking at least about an omnipotent conscious being. That much is common enough that if a belief system rejects part of it in their conception of god, the vast majority of humanity would say they're using the word wrong. And that's how words work!

I'm ignostic agnostic if that makes sense. I often identify as agnostic but I'm probably more ignostic because I believe it is more important to define first what "god" means. I think this is the hinge that people are often missing because people often debate about the topic of religion within the prevailing religion of the location individuals grew up in. As if the local religion is true while disregarding multitudes of other religions. Edit: wording

If you want to make the debate about agnostics and atheists it sort of depends on how you define the words and there are many different views on the subject. I would describe myself as an atheist on the basis that 'atheism' means living 'without god'.... 'a theism'. That said I also accept the fact that I might be wrong so in that sense some would say I was an agnostic. The fact that I might be wrong has no effect on my life because while I might be wrong about Jahweh I might also be wrong about Thor, Zeus, Jupiter, Ganesh, Ahura Mazda and The Invisible Pink Unicorn (BBHHH).

My experience is similar to yours, but we walked in opposite directions. I did not grow up in a religious family at all. Granted, my family generally believed in a cosmic deity, but the concept was completely undefined and floating in mid air. There were no religious ceremonies, church services (outside of the occasional wedding or funeral) or religious training. If asked "Do you believe in God?", my answer would have been, "Yeah... I guess so." But once I entered the university and studied logic and then philosophy, this vague belief in something supernatural turned into a stark skepticism about everything. And although I felt no need to advance a militant atheism, I was essentially an atheist. As years went by this soft atheism grew more vocal and I began to take some pleasure in shaking the faith of those who seemed so certain, but who were anything but skilled at defending their heartfelt beliefs. It was within that context that I met Brian, a believer whose convictions ran deeper than anyone I had hitherto encountered. My general M.O. was to ask simple questions of believers and force them to think through their assumptions to find answers. And believers have this quality.... they feel compelled to provide sensible answers when asked. It is an admirable trait, if viewed from their context. If you truly believe that one must trust in God in order to have life in the truest sense, and you love those around you, it stands to reason that you would want them to trust in God. You want them to believe because it will bring them life and eventual happiness. So you try to convince them. But Brian didn't seem to be too concerned with making me a believer. In fact, he told me point blank that it was his heartfelt conviction that he couldn't make anyone a believer by argument or evidence - something I took to mean that he had no argument or evidence. His approach was quite different. He would answer my questions in ways I was completely unfamiliar with (though I found the answers personally unsatisfying) and then he would ask even more basic questions of me, ones that were so simple that to me the answers seemed obvious. But upon trying to answer his questions I began to realize that I was really just assuming answers without reasoning through them in a way consistent with my own professed atheism. So if I were to ask him, "If God truly does exist, then why are those who claim to believe in Him so hypocritical and behaving in ways inconsistent with what they say about God?" Interestingly enough, Brian was the least hypocritical believer I'd ever come across. So asking him the question seemed somewhat moot, at least on a personal level. He was a very good looking and charismatic young man and we worked in the restaurant business with lots of young females who would practically offer themselves up to him... and yet he maintained his integrity through such things, never once (that i know of) taking advantage of such situations. Which, interestingly enough, only made them want to be close to him all the more. But Brian wouldn't respond by pointing out his own virtue by comparison. He would respond with a theological point about mankind being sinful and the hypocrisy of believers being no argument one way or the other concerning god's existence. It was, however, consistent with the Christian concept of the FALL - the very ugly idea that all mankind is sinful and worthy of God's wrath. And then he would do a very strange thing... he would simply ask me, "But is hypocrisy bad? Is it something that should not exist?" Well of course it's bad! Of course the world would be better if there were no hypocrisy! And I would say as much, only to have him ask me if there were anything like atheist hypocrisy. Upon further questions, which boiled the whole thing down to its most basic component, his point became clear. Hypocrisy itself was only possible in a world where there was a very clear and concrete distinction between right and wrong, good and evil. The hypocrite is the one who claims to be solidly in favor of the good in this concrete distinction, while trying very hard to mask the fact that they are actually quite the opposite. And without a very real right and wrong that is deeper than subjective, there is absolutely nothing right or wrong, whether hypocrisy or anything else. So my question about the wrongness of hypocrisy only made sense by presupposing a moral absolute, something my atheism couldn't offer up, but his Christianity could. This post is far too long already and I doubt anyone will want to read it. If any does and wants to know how I eventually came full circle to becoming a believer, they can ask. Suffice it to say my discussions with Brian spanned many months and culminated with his death in a tragic auto accident, which at the time threw me for a loop and only made me doubt in god's existence all the more. I loved that guy and his amazing young life and love for others. And it had a profound impact on me.

Hey i read your comment, i was wondering why his death made you lean more in the direction that God most likely doesn't exist? And also since you've had so many discussions with him what do you think he would have thought if someone like him affected him the same way as he did to you died, or it was the other way around and you're the one who died and someone else came along discussing things with him, knowing him what do you think he would say about you?
@rougebaba3887

@@ahmadramzy2716 My apologies but I misspoke. I should not have written that his death made me doubt in God's existence. By the time of his death I had already come to the conclusion that God must exist. However, I was not happy about this conclusion and I was by no means trusting in God's mercy in Christ. I will respond more fully later today, wrapping up (as quickly as I can) the history of my conversion journey. Briefly, although Brian's answers and questions had created in me my first "wild doubts about doubt", what resulted up to that point was fear. Fear of death and ultimately fear of God. It is one thing to think that my existence ends at physical death. That idea is not too thrilling. But neither is it terrorizing. It may even be somewhat comforting, particularly under the circumstances of a wicked life. But if God did exist, then I was faced with the very uncomfortable notion of judgement and punishment. And here was the man I knew who trusted in God the most, suffering and dying a very painful death. If God would allow Brian to suffer in this way, the finest man I knew, the most faithful man I knew... what did God have in store for me? So it did not make me doubt in God's existence. It only made me more sure that whatever God maybe, He was no friend of man. More later, and thank you.

Thanks for your post, Roger. I had a similar journey whereby first my intellectual objections were answered/resolved, then my heart was transformed by the love of my Christian friends during my 2nd & 3rd years of college. This old video just popped up on my yt-page, and I watched it from beginning to end. Quite enjoyably, even. It is nice to reflect and be reminded that more people than myself have an updated view on the ultimate answer to Life, the Universe and Everything (42..?). Shout out to Joe Scott and the rest of you freethinkers out there! If we don't destroy ourselves when we hit the Great Filter, we might even get smart and civilized. in a few millennia.
