I have a girlfriend, we’re both in our fifties, she has known her whole life that she will eventually be looking after her brother (who is high needs disabled). She’s been depressed for decades knowing that her life will be over once she has full time care of him. It’s not fair. So far she has always come second and been basically ignored her whole life. She was even told by her mother that the only reason she was born, was so she could be her brothers carer. Disgustingly unfair 🥺🥺
@redmanish
@redmanish Жыл бұрын
She should seriously investigate care homes in her area now, and talk with her parents about funds that might available to pay for it once they’re gone. I’ve known disabled people that truly blossomed when given a more independent, supportive group living environment, even those who required complex medical or behavioral care. Families can have way more meaningful visits when they aren’t exhausted and anxious. Just a thought. That’s so hard.
@lisadolan689
@lisadolan689 Жыл бұрын
@@redmanish that’s exactly what she is doing. It’s been very hard for her. Her mother has made absolutely no secret of the fact she was only conceived to be a carer. She even told all of us, her friends, that, with no shame. At all. The mind boggles. 😐😐 both her parents hung onto their Wills until they were both diagnosed with dementia, which means the existing Will stands. In saying all that, three of her very closest friends are Probate lawyers. We are all over the situation and are going to make sure that the rest of her life is not burdened further. This woman has been emotionally abused for her entire life, I can guarantee that it’s going to stop. We all love her and her brother, it’s not his fault, and we are going to make sure of the best outcome for both.

Oh, that’s classic. Mouth those right wing reactionary talking points why don’t you! Do you charge by the minute to parrot Lou Dobbs? It’s not as simple as you assume. It’s very easy to dispense advice about what they “should” have done. But you don’t live in their shoes. You have no idea what their circumstances were. They were very close. This is suggestive of a suicide compact. Do you have any idea what the suicide stats are for older people? (Obviously not. Or you just don’t give a damn.) Your judgmental response is so predictable. It’s exactly why such people end up despondent. We applaud wealthy tax cheats but condemn the poor as criminals. We love tax cuts for the 2% and don’t care that they are financed by people like these. Your view is exactly why people like that feel cornered. Knowing what I do about the so-called “support” systems existent and in place in the US ( especially in GOP strongholds) it’s a wonder that more people don’t go this route. Unfortunately this happens; unless one or both the deceased are prominent, the deaths go by mostly unnoticed by the community.

It sounds like a complicated situation, not the overly simplistic version that the police were pushing. It sounds like both sisters were ill. Lupus is rough at best, I don't know how she was taking care of her sister. She may be guilty, but it is also possible that the sister may not have wanted to live in another place where she couldn't have her dogs and freedom. Some people just don't like being dependent on others. There is plenty of reasonable doubt, which is why they did a plea deal.

Assistance dogs Service Dogs and Therapy Animals are a thing especially when it involves someone who has hearing or vision impairment. The dogs likely brought a sense of companionship to the both of them but the mobility aspect is more likely to have been the main reason that the dogs were involved with the sisters. The stress was more likely from the money and being harassed by debt collectors whilst seeing her own health and her sisters health decline. The case to me errs on the side of euthenasia (albeit in the most horrific manner conceivable under the definition of murder)...

So tragic. My heart bleeds for them. Jill must have loved her sister so much, for the years of care and her attempts to do something they could do together. But they were so unsupported. It seems so hard that Jill became the parent figure in Wendy's life. It was so unfair. So awfully sad and tragic.

Would hazard a guess she called the friend to make sure she was found alive so she could claim insurance on the sister. Much easier to find somewhere to live if it's just her and the animals, doesn't have to pay her sister back and could pay off other debts with the insurance

This is a brilliant video girls, great work. Refreshing to find out about new cases from you. You've really blossomed into great KZfaq creators. ❤ This is such a sad case, I have organ failure and I'm wheelchair bound, I'm cared for by a friend, but now he has early on set dementia, he's ok for now but I worry everyday waiting for the day he needs a carer himself. I'm so lucky to have a family who will do anything for us both. I can't imagine not having that support 😒. Carers allowance in the UK is only 270 pound a month and 150 for carers credits. How our shitty government expects someone to support themselves on that, it's just an added pressure and I wouldn't be surprised if tragedies arose around that with the cost of living crisis and even our food banks struggling! So you've picked a relevant case for our times. Great work. 👌👌

I feel sorry for the sisters. The parents needed to help Jill out. Some people are not born to be parents. My mother has 7 kids. Early on, she trained the elder sisters to take care of the younger siblings so she was free to do whatever. Even now in her eighties, she expects all her kids to take care of her. It's our jobs to take care of our parents, she said. Not her job to take care of us. I have a lot of resentments towards her. She has NPD. Thank you for making this video.

This is so horrific. I am crying now. I wish I would have known them, to help Jill with Wendy. Take over certain days,so Jill could have had time off to just do what she wanted to do. And maybe do more TV producing. The parents are horrible, but they were elderly and probably sickly. Now Jill has Parkinson's too. This is breaking my heart. RIP Wendy. Who knows, maybe Wendy felt she would be a burden on Jill. They wanted to die together. And Jill didn't want to be without her sister. IDK. Such sweet souls. Since they sold their house, it would be hard to find a place with three dogs. They most likely loved their dogs more than anything, and couldn't cope with probably having to give them up. They didn't have children, so they loved the dogs extra much. RIP sweet dogs, you're in heaven with Wendy now. ❤ and I don't think this was done out of malice, just the opposite. Someone who was overwhelmed with being a full time carer, with no respite, and overwhelmed with too much debt. Sometimes people just can't take it anymore. They see no way out of their situation. 😢 I'm wishing Jill all the best, hoping she will get out of prison sooner than seven years. And I'm sorry, you shouldn't expect your child to give up her life, to take care of your other severly handicapped child. So wrong. If they couldn't take care of Wendy, maybe put her into a facility. Maybe not full-time, but enough for Jill to still have a life. Or have get a carer to come to their home, but that is probably expensive. IDK if insurance would cover that?

@@xxwhispersxx2856 it sounds like you don't want to admit that sometimes, sadly, there is an end to the rope in some circumstances. Imagine trying to care for someone and give them a good life, with a debilitating chronic illness that's killing you - imagine getting ousted from your home, with no support and nowhere to go - no money, no credit. Imagine trying for years to stave off the inevitable and find a solution. You've already dared to suggest in another comment that she could have just 'surrendered' her sister to a care home. As if that's all you have to do - just 'surrender' them. Get down off your high horse and look at all the homeless people - especially in California where they live. The safety net is gone.
