Best days of our lives. You have to live this to understand,,,no IPad,,IPhone. Swimming in the river,,,Eating fruits all day long,,Respect or licks like peas,,fetching water,,,jumble stories,,,fire side cooking. That rain on the galvanized roof. Bathing in the rain. Sweetness too bad.

Taking a shower under the galvanize spout in the rainy season, a “bath” with a bucket of water in the outside stall in the dry season, baking bread in the dirt oven, grand mother sewing outfit for Easter sports day, soaking fruits for black cake and stealing a little “pinch” every now and then, everyone walking to the cemetery to bury the dead after funeral Mass and blessing yourself with water before walking back into your house, church bazaars…the list goes on. I had the most wonderful childhood in my hometown,Flanagin Town, in the bush, raised by the most decent loving people in my family and community.

Just found this. Showed it to my husband from Curepe and will be watching with our 2 daughters tomorrow on the TV. Show them where their father grew up as a boy before he came to London. Precious memories for him.

This is so beautiful and nostalgic, takes me back to a time that is now hidden to my eyes, in the mist of time. Where in T'n'T is this footage taken, after 32 yrs. it is time for me to make a return to the land of my birth. A land that I left as a young teen and still fondly remembers. Bless! 💐

Today is 11-27 and I just saw this short story. I really loved it and hope to see more. It brought back so much memories. I was cracking up when the coward sister was balling and saying don’t leave me . That was exactly how we acted👍🏽❤️

most precious memories of island life although I didnt physically experiece it since it was before my time but in between saw it and shared with others who wete our friends but such peace calm contentment and love sharing togetherness what a woderful time more caring sharing loving happiness

it was safe to walk in the dark or walk to a friends house or play with our friends and eat and drink and pick up the eggs from our own hens and cook our own chicken and get our fruits in the back yard and all the girls got together and played oh how the children of today miss out on true love and friendship

I may not be a Trini but I grown up in the southern parts of America it still felt like back home to me.. I living in concrete jungle NYC now but I still love my country life💖

@@Husiff very country lifestyle growing up I had to fetch water, out house or what’s is know as the outside toilet, we had chickens, cow, pigs and we grow most of our own foods like vegetables, ground foods…etc not to much of fruits because of climate change but apples, pears, plum, watermelons, wild berries.. it was nice but those days are long gone now.

I am 71 years old I was born and bread in mt lambert when I was young them was the best days you could go to the shop with 10 cents and by a sweet drink and a biscuit cake 🎂 and sewing gum and still get back 1 cent change believe it or not

Hi Husiff; I so enjoyed this Short Story by: Verna Gonzals, I was born in Cascade, Port-of-Spain, and had the same up-bringing, no electricity, no refrigerator, but we grew up very happy and contented- and paid 10c (ten cents) for a bottle of pitch oil ( kerosene) to light up the lamp. God was always so good to us. Have a blessed night Husiff.🙏
