Don't get your major scales mixed up ever again with this Simple practise method. We have to practise in a way that helps us with our specific targets and usually when we focus on scales, we're focused on technique BUT as well as that, we can also aim to memorise them solidly to help us play and use them in music.

I would start on A, D and E. 1,4,5 progression. All the same fingering on these major chords. The C, F and G chords are the same as far as the fingering. Have fun with the odd one out. B took me for a ride.

Hi from Germany.The three pattens- the chromatic scale,the major scale and the circle of fifths- form the"holy trinity" of music where each is simply a reincarnation of the others, and where each pattern is inherently cyclical, forming an endless loop. Big up for this channel!

One thing I recommend is, as early as possible, is to play a chosen scale beginning on scale degrees other than the tonic. It not only helps memorising the scale but builds in fluidity and flexibility when scale-like figures and passages are encountered in pieces.

That sounds like a great idea , but for example in C major , starting on E , do you use 3 finger or the 1 that you would have used on the tonic
@BsktImp
@BsktImp Жыл бұрын
@@stevenblackwell9889 You can do both; starting on the 'usual' finger for that scale degree (which is what I normally do), or treat it like a mode instead and adapt the fingering for playing that mode.

I love these videos. I started learning to play soprano saxophone back in January. I learn thing here and I can make the connections to the soprano sax. I'm starting to get used to transposing from the key of Bb which is the key of my soprano sax to concert C to Eb which is the key of an alto sax and back again. I'm from Mount Pleasant, Michigan in the USA. The funny thing about Mt. Pleasant is that there's no mountains anywhere near here. We're in the rather flat center of the midlands of Michigan.

@@PianoFromScratch That is a good question that I don't have the answer to. This area was settled by people from all over Western Europe. They came for the lumber. Supposedly, about 140 years ago, it was so heavily forested around here that it was difficult to walk through. Now, it's mostly farm land.

@PianoFromScratch
@PianoFromScratch 2 жыл бұрын
Hard to explain fully in a comment without seeing what you're doing first and also demonstrating, but generally speaking here's a few tips. Make sure that you're not trying to play anything too hard, technically difficult or complicated to begin with, it's best to get the basics right on simpler stuff then build up. Make sure you're using your arm weight to play and think about hand positioning and movement as you play too. A have a few videos that touch on this stuff but check out the channel pianolab as most of his videos are on piano technique and playing tension free 🙂

I been practicing 3 months. What i have learned is, go very slow, relax your hand and wrist. Sort of keep a dead hand. Practice playing five notes at a time (CDEFG) then shake your hands and repeat 10 times. Practice with a Metronome at a slow tempo and speed it up as your master the starting point. Starting slow improves muscle memory and accuracy. We in the learning thing together. Happy playing.

This is a bit off topic and more of a request for a video. You did a video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZpygrK-evtmRYZs.html) that discussed how to construct major scales. It helped me tremendously. I am wondering if you could do a similar one for minor scales; something that can help you instantly visualize a particular minor scale, the differences between all the differing times of minor scales. I’ve learned a ton from you and am a huge fan of your pattern/formula approach to theory. Thank you so much for your hard work.

major scales....look at the notes...all whole steps except between 3 and 4, and 7 and 8. Formula works for all major scales, so we can be intuitive...instead of memorizing. This is ridiculously complicated. SO major goes.... Whole whole, half, whole whole whole half. Minor scale is all whole steps except 2 and 3, and 5 and 6, which are half steps on the notes. Whole half whole whole half whole whole. That's it. Works for any major minor, flat sharp scale, etc.
