Watch what a slow day looks like for a Firestone Automotive technician, and realize that it's not always as good as what it seems to be in the automotive industry. There is many ups and downs for mechanics and today you'll see a full day in the life on a semi slow day.

The Firestone where my folks live in a small town in Texas is open 7 days a week and busy as hell. They have great service, techs and the service writers really good with little pressure. They get so busy the service writers in their white shirts are busting tires to keep up. My elderly parents are treated really well.

I worked for Firestone. I worked my ass off everyday. Then out of nowhere, they DM and GM said that the techs were going to be paid hourly instead of flag. They told me that they did a 6 month evaluation of my work record. They straight up said I was only worth $9.75 an hour. I was making $24 flag rate. Sooooo. After that, I took my tool boxes home and only had tools to do oil changes. Of course the managers were pissed that i a ASE certified mechanic only did oil changes. I told them I'm only going to do oil changes since I'm only getting paid $9.75 an hour. A month later I was hired at Puente Hills Dodge.

The park switch lets the computer know when the motor is positioned at its rest position. Since the wipers might be midway through a wipe when it is commanded to change speeds faster or slower, the only way it can know the wiper blades position is if the switch sends a computer to the BCM saying "hey i'm at rest". The wiper motor isn't a servo, if it was a servo then it wouldn't matter! Without the park switch the wipers can't work. You can check the park switch by manually moving the wipers by hand from rest and seeing if the data changes from park to unparked.

How do you go about getting your training?
@HomieHektor

Monster Squash I’m gonna be honest, Firestone doesn’t do a very good job of getting you to training and staying up to date with Automotive Technology. I mostly do my own research on the web 👍🏼

You forgot to check "front wipers high" at 11:11. Put the phone down son and get to work... if you wanna continue to show people your work i would suggest filming hands free.
