Hi everyone,
My name is Tracy and I garden in zone 5/6 (judging by our last winter) in Toronto, Canada.
You are watching a video of my Slow Early Fall Relaxing Garden Tour (no voice). The video was filmed on September 25, 2021.
Hope you enjoy the video 🪴.
Thank you so kindly for taking some of your precious time to watch my video.
Happy gardening & see you next time! 🪴💚
Ps. You may be able to hear thunder rumbling in the background of the video. Throughout the entire time, I was praying for the rain and thunder to come after I was finished with filming….and I was so thankful that I completed It without getting rained on. 🙏😁🪴

Me too!! I know why. The music is a bit sad, and, for me, I love summer and knowing all this colour will be gone till next year is a bit sad sad for me too. As beautiful as winter can be it can’t compete with the beautiful other seasons on this earth!! Thank you Tracy for giving us a feast for the eyes and ears!!

Tracy, as I've said many times, your gardens are breathtakingly beautiful. I have a suggestion for your squirrel problem with the Bobo hydrangeas blooms browning out, if you lay half-inch hardware cloth around the base of those plants, the squirrels can't dig into the root area of the hydrangeas. I also lay hardware cloth on top of the soil when I plant bulbs and in areas that squirrels can't seem to leave alone. Squirrels are fun to watch but can be very destructive. I hope you and your family are having a relaxing weekend. ~Margie

Hi Margie, That’s a great idea…thank you! I’m not sure why squirrels 🐿 love digging up those two Bobos….last year, I found half of the plant exposed….and I didn’t see it until I started seeing dead blooms.😧. This year, the same two plants had holes that could fit a baseball ⚾️ . My only concerns about the cloth is the weeds that may grow on top…do you find that it’s harder to pull the weed out where the cloth wrapped around the base? 🧐 I tried sprinkling a little bit of blood meal but it didn’t work as all the rain we had this September must have washed it all away. 😊
@greenthumbelina7331
@greenthumbelina7331 2 жыл бұрын
@@TracysHomeGarden I don't wrap the hardware cloth around the plant base I just lay it on top of the soil, overlapping the pieces. Then put your mulch on top. It's easy to pull weeds up, if you need to, you can move the hardware cloth to weed around the plants, then lay it back into place and mulch on top.

Hello, I'm also in zone 5. Are any of your Hydrangeas growing in full sun? If so, which varieties? I would love to achieve this look in my own west facing garden. So beautiful!

Hi there, The front garden is south facing so all the plants there get full sun all day long. Any panicle hydrangea will do well west facing in zone 5. Happy gardening

Hi Beverly, Thank you so much 😊 Yes, I did sow and plant the zinnias in the large planters in the front garden. They were sowed in mid-July and bloomed beautifully until fall. I saved some seeds so I will definitely be repeating those again next year. Happy holidays 💚💚💚

Thank you so much Azizeh Rabbo! 💚🙏💚 Before planting - I added and raked a lot of leaf compost. Every spring (and sometimes autumn), I add a cup (or two) of compost to each hydrangea…on top of the garden I always use mulch so that really helps to add more nutrients to the soil. The only plants I give fertilizer too is my annuals, roses & clematis. Hope that helps. Happy gardening. 💚🙏🪴

I used leaf compost (made from leaves collected in fall - you can use the mulch machine and turn them into mulch)…then rake into the garden soil…which will break down to form compost. Otherwise you can order large leaf compost bags from garden centers. The other types you can also use is cow or sheep manure compost….which also works as well. All the best

what do you use for the clematis that goes brown
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Make sure to remove the brown stems and leaves and throw in the garbage (not in the compost). Then dig up about 4” of soil around the base of the plant and discard. Replace with fresh compost (and garden soil)…you can sprinkle a little bit of the fungicide garden sulfur and back fill the soil in the clematis. This will help remove any spores that may still be in the soil and re-infect the clematis.
