There was never 3 tracks at the FLL tri-rail station. This station replaced one further south where BCT's Ravenswood garage is, and before that the first station was right next to the airport runway. I have no idea why the platform was built as it was.

I really enjoy riding Tri-Rail, it's fun to watch us speeding past the cars on the I-95 lol. Also, 809 actually retired in February 2016, not 2015. Now, all of the new F40s have been wrapped in Tri-Rail colours, which look a bit weird. Nice trip report!

Superb Report man! Tri-Rail is a very interesting commuter train and in some way reminds me of the Coaster here.

I'm glad you enjoyed! It seems that most commuter trains in North America use very similar rolling stock, so it's not hard to draw parallels between different networks.

@@FlyersAviation I was thinking the same but in regards to Caltrain and Capitol Corridor trains. If one of these pulled up in Caltrain livery I probably wouldn't even notice the difference. Glad that we're now effectively standardizing on the Siemens Venture coaches as a quasi-national standard for commuter rail.

Rumor has it that Amtrak is looking into moving out of their current Miami station and into the Tri-Rail intermodal station.

I went on the Tri-Rail once back in 1997. It was on a field trip with my class. We took it to West Palm Beach to go to the Whitehall Flagler Museum and the Dreher Park Zoo (later the Palm Beach Zoo) after stopping at a nearby Chuck E. Cheese’s for lunch. It was a neat experience. Before and after said field trip, I used to see the Tri-Rail pass by a lot.

Just watched the video. It was an accurate review of the journey and rolling stock. Only one point. The end point is Mangonia not Magnolia 😊

Perhaps you should go from the train station and go to the train that takes people to the airport. It's a great trip into the main airport terminal. It is a little confusing, so it would be great to show the entire complex from the TriRail or Metrorail station at the MIC the monorail ride and the airport station.
