400km south of Perth the Stirling Ranges seem to emerge out of nowhere amongst the otherwise flat landscape. The staggering beauty of this mountainous National Park is often shrouded in cloud and fog, but on a clear day it is a sight to behold. Bluff Knoll is the highest peak in the range, at 1099m above sea level and one of the classic hikes in WA. We started early and hiked the 3.1km to the summit for sunrise.
Important: Weather conditions in the Stirling Ranges can change quickly and drastically. This hike was on a fine weather day in December and the summit was extremely cold and at various points fog rolled through significantly reducing visibility. Hike prepared and make good decisions with what mother nature throws out.
