Living Big In A Tiny House

Living Big In A Tiny House

2 жыл бұрын

If you're looking for a super spacious tiny house design, then this is one you'll really want to see! Modern, open, off-the-grid and with two sleeping lofts that even I'm able to stand up in, this tiny house could have been built for giants.
Angus initially became interested in moving into a tiny house after he started transporting them around NZ for clients. Realising it would be a perfect fit for him, he set about purchasing his own dream tiny house and moving it onto an incredible, elevated section with panoramic views.
Fully off grid with solar power and with water sourced from a nearby spring, Angus is building his dream lifestyle here. He has a shipping container set up with all the solar power utilities and extra storage for his toys such as his side by side, which he uses to take full advantage of the 4x4 track which runs close to his home.
We hope you enjoy the full tour of this epic tiny house!

This is such a spacious tiny house! Being able to stand up in a tiny house loft is quite a novelty for me. There's a lot of really interesting design that's gone into this home. I also had an absolute blast getting to ride on the side-by-side! That thing is serious fun! We really hope you enjoy the tour! With love. Bryce & Rasa

would you do a video on building materials such as wood frame or shipping containers possible ways the building might need to differ from climate to climate in it's build and lifelines for power/water. maybe get a series out of this? Towing some of those homes with his work truck too makes me think of the weight of some tiny homes removable deck and a septic tank etc. I'd love to see some Tiny house ideas that float too!

In New Zealand we don't really have those extreme weather conditions. You'll get a random flood every once in a while. Can't remember when we last had a major fire. I think they are in the middle of nowhere which is why all their stuff is outside. In the cities you wouldn't do that 😀

This is one of the nicest tiny houses yet. Being able to stand in the bedroom is a big deal to me. I know I would feel trapped and claustrophobic in those smaller upstairs standing spaces which most of the homes have. My biggest problem though, besides the fact that my wife would never agree to such a living situation, I have way too many books, enough to fill a tiny house from floor to ceiling and maybe still have some left over. I can't part with them. But this channel helps me to live vicariously through the various homes, this one being extra special in my opinion. I live in the USA but from what I have seen of "down under" on this channel, it is quite beautiful and I would love to visit (getting me on a plane is another story).

Going tiny has great appeal, but I too have a large personal library in the thousands of books. I'm thinking the solution would be a separate shipping container as a dedicated library. The moving costs would be increased in case of relocation, but well worth the price, imo. Angus's house and outbuilding for solar batteries is a good example for this. Love everything about his home.
@brigham2250

@@bibliomama8310 -- Yes, I thought about having a separate "home/library" for my books, too. But this is all just fantasy on my part because, like I said above, my wife would never agree to tiny house living. But it is fun to pretend in my head.

Calculating the actual living space from the figures he gave--33' x 10', and then adding the upper rooms (estimating 10 x 12 and 10 x 10 but looks like more with the wide angle lens he's using) It looks like all together, it's well over 500'sq of living space--which is really not all that tiny. Add the mud room which is probably another 100' sq and it comes to about the same size as a single wide mobile home here in the US.

Great to see a young couple following their dreams + recognizing that they really didn't need the big house + all it's possessions that most of us feel is a priority that we couldn't live without. I went from a home 3 times the size to what I have downsized to. Downsizing wasn't easy as I thought I needed all of what I had accumulated over 25 years, but the last 10 years of living in a tiny cottage is much more freeing. I'm surprised at how easily I adapted + I don't miss the bigger home at all. I wish this young couple a wonderful future. If they choose to become parents I'm sure they'll find an ingenious way to accommodate a little one until it's a bit bigger + needs a bedroom of its own.

well they could get rid of the dining area.since they have a big kitchen bench and outdoor eating area.. . and give the kid that upstairs lounge as a bedroom. Assuming they wanted that.

This is the nicest tiny house with the ability to stand up on the upstairs areas as well as the huge height in the dining area. Mud room and deck add so much more space. Love it. The bathroom storage is outstanding.

Bryce, I have enjoyed all of your tiny house videos and there is only one thing I struggle with: Could you please make the dimensions larger when you flash them on screen? For those of us who have to watch from our phones it's not visible. You and Rasa do a wonderful job! Thanks

I too have to watch from an older, smaller phone. When they mention the dimensions of the Tiny House, I snap a picture, pause the video and "blow up" the photo with my fingers until I can read the size. This one was 33' long x 10' wide x 14' high. Hope my tip helps you

It's amazing how a small space can give birth to so many design ideas. This house is truly unique. It's one of the best.

I love the wardrobes in the bathroom! Super functional and great use of space, keeps the bedroom nice and tidy too! Imagine if the laundry was in the bathroom too! No need to cart things upstairs all the time (and all the space in the bathrooms means you can hang your clothes out in there when its rainy outside)! Very very cool
