Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald's?

Here is a video tour of the house I rented in Adak, Alaska, while I investigated the island’s abandoned McDonald’s location.

One time I was on Google maps. I was just exploring random places. I found Adak one time and for no reason I had to learn everything about it because "It looked cool" I've been researching this town for a year now Dopamine Overabundance Syndrome folks

By Navy standards, that was some of the nicest enlisted military housing you would find. New in 1980.

Some of the family housing was nice - For singles: Up on the hill or the VP Det barracks maybe. Us NAVFAC and NSGA people. . . not so much.

I lived at 136D in the area you are in. My wife and I lived there from 86-89. My son was born there. The housing units were just fine. Back then there were many things to do. 5,000 + people lived there. I never locked any door.

I lived in those houses from 89-91. They were originally supposed to go to Hawaii hence the green room. I can’t remember if they were on springs or rollers when there was an earthquake

Very Sad to see some of these places in the Rundown State they are in. These were really nice houses when they were built and occupied. They spent alot of money on these Units. They were built on rollers because of all the Earthquakes that Adak has. Things have really changed.

If you want to see the McDonalds Pizza Resteraunt check out the video Fallstallion did on it. The menu board is still on the Wall with the Prep Station and eating booths still there. It was up on the Hill in the Barracks Building. Looks just like it did back in the early 1990s when it was put in but just way worse shape. I remember it well. Sure was great.to get some good Pizza in Adak. Matt C.

I was there in 74. Navy cruise from Pearl Harbor. Very vibrant community. Now , I don’t know . What do you do? Security.

The pay there is high too though, and very little to waste money on. Plus houses are super cheap

I used to even my friends that got the places with the solarium - wish I would have had one! Our housing wasn't nearly as nice.

Yes. My Dad was a DOD employee. He traveled to Adak a few times for work before finally moving the family up. I started Kindergarten there and left after my high school graduation. There are actuallt quite a few families whose children grew up there. My sister and I were able to visit in 2018, and it was wonderful

There is more than enough money to fix everything and to even develop. The problem is the mainland especially the coastal part of the country have no benefit. Maybe the whole of the US has no benefot besides maintaining anything for sovereignty reasons.
