To reiterate, this is a personal opinion, I don't speak for everyone. And I do appreciate that I missed some vocations and side quests because I didn't explore everywhere (which also would have added more hours into the game). Please be kind.

Problem is, a lot of quests are locked in conversations so you have to talk to everyone in every town and camp and even on your journeys. Some of those side quests can last hours on their own, not to mention, the “true” ending itself can take many hours and ties up the loose ends you are talking about….. though is easy to miss if you haven’t spoken to certain people. I am 80hrs in, have 9 fast travel points in different areas making travel way quicker and I am still in the end game area. If you just follow the main quest, which is the only one sign posted, it probably does take 30hrs and lead to the really vanilla ending where you miss a whole reconfiguration of the map, special classes, additional gear and end game monsters.

This seems like an incredibly lazy review to me. Sounds like you didn’t explore much or want to since you only found one new vocation. You wanting to just skip everything with fast travel without being interrupted by enemies supports this assumption. There’s also plenty of campsites in the world so I don’t get that complaint, also seems like you never used buff food at camps. 29 hours to complete tells me you rushed through this game. My first playthrough took me 107 hours and I didn’t even do everything.

@user-fr5hs4vj4d imo, the game is fantastic. It doesn't hold your hand and have quest markers showing you everywhere to go, and that's not for some people, understandably. The game makes you think, and some people just want to unwind when gaming and not have to figure out puzzles and remember where that specific npc was and who said what. I personally love it, but to each their own.

Only part I agree with is the lack of costimization, most of the gear is just the same gear from the first game an the new gear isn't very cool looking. I like to get a 5-7 level higher than me pawn. Yeah it burns Rc but they will be with me for like 6-8 real time hours they carry me for the 4 hours of that.

There are things I find frustrating about the game, like how I can heal from dead if I pause quick enough in combat but fall damage is instant death, but that max health thing you mentioned in your review had never even crossed my mind while playing. Very rarely would I get low max health before resting unless I had fought like a dragon. Also camp sites are every where, like a 30 second walk in any direction will usually have you stumble into a camp site. Also how did you struggle to find the vocations? I was never looking for them and was essentially handed them all by accident. Thinking about where they were placed and how you get them I struggle to imagine how you missed any. I do agree on enemy density though, especially in battahl. Vermund and volcanic island I found had a pretty good spread but battahl it felt like every 5 feet there was another pack of grunts to deal with and when traveling long distances turned from fun into a bit of a chore.

Some of your criticisms do have solutions later in the game in the form of the Warfarer vocation, (although you can’t use maister skills with it,) as well as new game plus, where more equipment selections become available. Also, ferrystones become a reliable drop from enemies in certain locations, but you’ll have to farm said enemies for quite a while if you want a surplus all at once. However, while I do love this game, I can still see the legitimacy of complaints such as yours. I have my own gripes with it as well, but I think it’s really the type of game where you get out of it what you put into it. For example, I love the feeling of coming out victorious after being completely overwhelmed in combat situations. I will go out of my way to make things as difficult as possible for myself to see if I can overcome it. I really have no clue why, and I am aware that not everyone will enjoy it the same as me. Maybe it’s the moment to moment type of style I play in that grants me more enjoyment? I create my own fun with it.

Unfortunately and I think I can speak for most people in these comments that you didn’t play the same game as we did. Maybe this game and its structure isn’t for you, maybe you need a more linear The Last Of Us stylized type of game. But this game by no means is bad and no where near worst then the first. I’d take the criticisms of those in the comments and I’d go back to the drawing board on your opinion. If you’d have said I understand why people like this game but it isn’t for me but on paper the game is fantastic that would have made more sense but based off of your opinion of the game shows you really didn’t play it or interact with the mechanics hardly if at all. So at this point I’d kind of say respectfully but your critique is invalid due to improper research and study unfortunately, I’d just revisit it and then upload another critique with more time spent actually trying to play the game for what it is! Edit: After looking at your back catalogue of games that you’ve played and reviewed, it seems to me that DD2 is way beyond anything you’ve played or reviewed in the past. I didn’t look too far into it but i skimmed over your playlist and videos. If what I saw is in any way shape or form a good assessment of the types of games you’ve played/currently play and enjoy then yeah your critique of DD2 I believe is invalid and I’m not sure if you’d be even equipped to review it, only due to the fact that it doesn’t seem like this is the type of game you enjoy. It seems like you enjoy short, linear, quick and short travel, farming and repetitive type gameplay structures, DD2 is not that at all. Not saying your critique couldn’t be valued but I think you need to restructure your thinking on how you review a game of DD2’s magnitude! This Is with the upmost respect, no hard feelings nor disrespect much love!

While I disagree with some of the points in this video and have to question why would one expect a game about combat to have little combat (Though Battahl could use 1 or 2 less hobgoblin spawns), I appreciate that the video acknowledges that it is subjective. So many people who make reviews think there's only one objectively correct opinion. Also Australia needs to get something done, those prices are insane (I paid 52€ and that was 2€ too much for my liking).

@jarosawdylewski9507
@jarosawdylewski9507 3 ай бұрын
I haven't played more casual game than DD2 in recent months. Combat is laughably easy, especially with thief and magick archer. There is no point in exploration. Outside the endgame there is no urgency (other than some terribly designed side quests you can ignore anyway) so you can rest at campsites that are everywhere. There are no consequences to your actions - you can literally kill the queen early in the game and nobody will comment on that (she will just pop up in the story anyway). The only "not casual" thing is dragonplague that can brick your entire save but that's not a challenge, that's simply shit design some rose-tinted fanboys view as challenge. There is nothing challenging about this game. 112 hours in and I can't remember using a health potion (stamina consumables sure, but those too become optional once your mage pawn has his meister skill). It's basically a walking simulator with shit story, mid combat and few nice vistas to make screenshots at.

I really do respect reviews like this as this shows that not every game will be for everyone even if there have been high buzz and marketing surrounding certain games such as this one before launch. This definitely seems like more of a remake/reboot rather than a sequel because as I’m playing, it feels just like the first game but even still, I personally am loving the whole experience so far and while I won’t look past the game flaws; The engaging combat, the sense of real adventure that very few games can replicate, and making a story that feels at the very least more grounded than the questionable confusion that plagued some of the first game’s story is all to my enjoyment so far. I loved the first game as well, and it was Dragon’s Dogma that made me realize far too many games seem to hold the players hand constantly these days, not willing to go the extra mile and play games to really make you think and learn. Sure games to just turn your brain off and have fun are just as important, because that’s what it is just fun, but an immersive game top to bottom, can really create a more unique experience for the player where you don’t know what will happen. Anyways sorry for rambling, it’s a shame that this game wasn’t for you but as I mentioned, not every game is for everyone. Play what you feel is fun and not just to play what other people are playing.

Makes me sad that someone didn’t enjoy this game as much as I did. Won’t try to change anyone’s mind, but a great deal of the things presented here as negatives are just not real. Under utilizing your vocation will absolutely make the game harder than it needs to be and that’s clearly what’s happening here. Also, money is extremely easy to come by, by just playing the game and selling things you don’t need. It should really also be said that it is physically impossible to beat this game with “most if not all” of the side quests done. The amount of content here is massive and the fact that you also have all of these classes to level up and get up…I’m 90 hours in and not even past the 3/4 mark

Dogma 2 reviews are so funny. Most people don't understand the game at all and don't seem to try to 😂 Game is meant to be replayed. That's why the main story itself is short. It's meant to be explored and taken in. Talking to the different people you come across in your adventure leading you into branching side quests and stories. This game is definitely not meant for people who want to be handheld and babied through the entire game that is for sure.

What's there to explore? Exploration is literally pointless. Bunch of caves with vendor-trash level rewards. There are no hidden stories/adventures other than maybe Sphinx and idk Mage meister skill quest?. You have like 40 side-quests and most of them are from main hubs. There are no hidden stories, no hidden quests, like maybe five pieces of good equipment that you'll replace with vendor items anyway. Just bunch of dungeons with mobs. Do you remember how, in Skyrim, you could explore and find a cave that led to some unique hidden story? Like the Falmer cave? There is nothing like that in DD2. Spent 110 hours in this game as well (112). And all I can say about exploration - it's slightly better than Starfields lol.

This review gives me so many mixed feelings. Its not that there aren't valid complaints but this review seems like you were surprised by almost all of the dev choices made like limited fast travel/ oxcarts being attacked, the health bar lowering everytime you get hurt, vocations being split and having to go and find them in the world etc. Now I'm not saying you HAVE to or even SHOULD follow a games development but you stated that you wanted to see what Capcom was going to do with this franchise after 12 years and well quite honestly they were very open about how they made it. They told us fast travel was limited and you will get attacked, they broke down how vocations were split and that you don't level them up to gain new ones, and they explained the challenge they wanted to put in with the health bar. Another thing is you state that you completed every side quest that you could find and somehow beat this game in a week your exact gaming number was 29 hrs. I explored and cleaned up the northern region since the game came out, had over 50hrs by the time I decided to move on and haven't died yet now the last part isn't a brag (its actually a knock on the difficulty of the game) but what I'm trying to get at is I don't have 50hrs in because I couldn't get through an area or past a boss I have 50hrs because there was so much to do. Tedious work, don't get me wrong, but when stating that you explored the towns in the game, you should've run across multiple side missions that would keep you annoyingly busy (not to mention somehow progress the story more than the main missions, just another knock there). Vocations was what I was hunting down the most and a little exploring will get you there if you stick just solely to the main missions and anything that popped up for you, then your not going to find a lot of things, warfarer and magic archer are literally in the same place and you can find these by not staying on the main mission path and going to volcano island the only way the game will allow you at that point, you quite literally stumble onto them for helping one little old guy. Now I have mixed feelings about this review because for anyone reading this far idk who would cuz I'm kinda rambling wouldn't be surprised if Lamo doesn't really read this but for anyone still here I fully agree that this game is MID, I'm just a completionist who once hooked (even if its a little bit) I must venture and explore until I've seen a place 3-4 times in passing and know that I've done my best in finding what was there. I think this game is weirdly archaic in design, taking out various quality-of-life things that casual gamers are just used to, and I don't think that they were executed properly. I agree that this is not a game that was marketed for the casual player and that that would be a turnoff for a lot of people thinking they were getting a typical RPG action adventure. I believe the story as a whole was pretty lackluster and quick, and I don't think that a game should rely on the player constantly exploring and finding their own fun. Aside from the story beats, however, most of the complaints in this review were things that were fully explained in the lead-up to this game dropping. This review sounds more disappointed at systems as if you weren't expecting them and not at the application of the systems as a whole. To be upset at a game for putting or taking out things, sure, but to be upset about it as if you didn't realize it was going to happen when the devs were open about what they had done is slightly different to me. I can't get over you saying you explored but still finished the game in under 30 hrs. Again I'm not saying I agree with the game suggesting that you explore every nook and cranny but I also came into the game with the understanding that that is exactly what you needed to do in order to see and experience as much as possible and I have to question the level of exploration you really did. For what the devs in Capcom were trying to accomplish I think they did exactly what they wanted. I think in practice it doesn't really work for the period of gaming we are in but I can't get upset at the game for mechanics I knew were going to be in the game to begin with. This isn't a situation where I'm upset they marketed this game to be one thing and then it was clearly another, for me this was one of those I'm upset because I gave their game logic a shot and its just not hitting. (Last side note Mystic Spearhand is def one of the most broken vocations in the game no need to dodge just use the magic shield it covers all party members and takes an abusive amount of damage. Had an archer as main pawn solely for the augments switched them to a thief when that vacation was done ran a fighter and a mage as my other two never worried about flying enemies once and I have a suspicion that all of your pawns were straightforward pawns that are programmed to run off and fight anything with a pulse even if it falls off a cliff, it could definitely be debated if that's good or bad but there are ways around some of the issues you had in game that made you upset or disappointed and I get it, after having those issues if you don't spend time trying to figure out why its happening then yeah maybe you do just run through the story to get it over with but its not like there aren't ways around some of your issues with the game either).

If you like combat and the classe(s) you are playing, it's a fairly good game. The rest of it from AI dying and everything else, not so good. Sub-par in most ways and punishing on others. If you don't have a ferrystone and your way out into the woods, overweight and moving slow...it's ridiculously punishing. Unless you just drop all loot you found, even then it's a 30m treck at least to some kind of town. Just hope your healer pawn didn't die.

How is DD2 not for casual players? Terribly designed side-quests and dragonplague mechanics are not "challenge", it's just shit design. Combat past lvl 20 is not a challenge, and once you unlock thief meister skills or magick archer there is literally zero skill required to beat anything in this game (unless you hinder yourself on purpose). You just fuck everything up. It's more casual than Starfield really. Exploration has no point since it's just fuckton of caves with vendor-trash tier rewards and no hidden quests or stories other than maybe Sphinx (which was cool ngl). I have realized this after 112 hours. DD2 is a casual walking simulator with shit story and few nice vistas.

Wth? 29 hours to complete and you did EVERY side quest you could find? You are either skipping quests or you are completely oblivious. The sorcerers appraisal quest took me almost 2 hours to complete by itself. Also your complaint about class lock on vocation is false too. Your lack of awareness really handicapped your playthrough or you would have unlocked mystic archerer. I mean I don't know how anyone would miss an old man in the middle of the road complaining about not being able to move. Which in turns leads you straight to the warfarer vocation. That vocation literally lets you be a mix of any class in the game. Im about 60 hours in and most of the points you made were definitely off based. The game is only hard if you make it hard on yourself.

Sorry, but your review does not serve justice to the game. I understand that the travelling may get repetitive if you have to go to far off locations to complete a quest, but it's a matter of making each trip profitable and fun. The fact that you finished the game in 29 hours says a lot, since I haven't finished my first playthrough at 50 hours... You should buy ferrystones every time you go into a town or village, they are rather common even if they are expensive and limited, but the usually respawn after a couple of in game days. And Portcristals are easy easy to find if you just look for quick guides. Regarding Mystic Spearhand, you do not need a dodge button at all, you can get hit really hard and not loose a single point of health thanks to Mirror Shield... and you can use the technique that saps enemy HP for Stamina to keep the combo train going for a whole boss fight. And brutally challenging? While you play as a walking Beyblade that has a technique which automatically evades any hit and barely costs stamina? With Warfarer, Thief and Mystic Spearhand you can absolutely annihilate any boss very easily, and I'm not even considerign Martir's Bolt in Magik Archer. Souls games like Sekiro and Elden Ring are brutally challenging, this is just a very grounded fantasy RPG that let's you take some risks, but plays out as a power fantasy. Even Kingdom Come Deliverance is a much harsher and punishing game! The game came out two weeks ago and in the mean time you played 29 hours, and you decided to put out a negative review with very flawed arguments... it's not exactly fair for the developers. It is a flawed game with weird passing, it does take a lot of grinding and going back and forth, the Pawn AI is clunky at times, the quests are easy to miss, the lack of cutscenes while interacting with NPC's in most side quests does make them seem expandable (like with Sigurd, he is the only other Mystic Spearhand and you can easily miss his side story). Perhaps including job boards like the first game would serve the game better. You should check out some guides, do a new playthrough, change the vocations as often as you can, put in some more hours and then put out a review. Being "edgy" for the sake of it, does not flow well for small content creators. I'm totally fine with you not liking the game personally, but statements like "Campsites can be, at times, tricky to find" say a lot of the time you spent exploring.

Thanks. The slow travel and back-and-forth over the same ares is very annoying, so are the (very similar) mobs that jump you at random after leaving town for 2 seconds. None of it is challenging, but merely tedious grind, which I didn't like. The game doesn't feel like it's worth $70, it's average overall and truly bad in some areas like the story. The early review scores make no sense to me, in the later reviews post-launch, I saw a lot more 5/10, 6/10 and 7/10, which I agree with, average game, very costly for what it is.
