Quick correction on the "all static legendaries after Gen 5 are locked" thing: ORAS is also somewhat of an exception to this! The box legendaries (Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza) and Deoxys are locked, but the Regis, Latis (both the story gift one and the eon ticket one) and anything that comes out of a Hoopa ring are huntable.

@@Newsteevie I consider the gift Latios or Latias to be a "story" pokemon. Definitely more relevant than the XY roaming birds, which are locked.

I think this would scoot uncomfortably close to clashing with Japan's Gacha Laws as well, and just aren't worth it between that, and the cost of manufacturing low quantity batches of the shiny variant

The fact that you mentioned IVs used to be called DVs just put this video into the top percentage (of Rattatas). Most videos on this topic tend to just skip that fun fact.

Slight correction on the 2.0 SV outbreaks. Yes the rare forms of certain pokemon can spawn but ONLY if there is an associated wild spawn with it. Meaning authentic sinistea can be an outbreak because it can normally spawn in the wild while a 3 segment dudunsparce outbreak will never happen since only the 2 segment form can appear in the wild.

There are a few things you forgot to mention: If you have a 100% PLA file on the same Switch as BDSP, you can shiny hunt Arceus in BDSP and it is the first time since Platinum you can shiny hunt a mythical Pokémon. Pokemon Go is most likely at some point going to release the unreleased shiny Pokémon making those Pokemon Go exclusive. Shiny Mew and Genesect outside Japan you could only get legit in Pokémon Go. Next April, 3 shiny huntable Pokemon will be trade only with Bank shutting down. They are Manaphy, Type Null, and Poipole.

And with Pokémon Go, it‘a the most realistic way to hunt for Darkrai (if you missed the ticket) and Deoxys (that’s a 20 year old event lol) and the only way for Genesect. And also, Shaymen is the first Mythical you can shiny hunt in-game since Plat. since it was the first to be released on BDSP, if we don’t count Phione.

Since every Pokemon including mythicals are released for that region, I have reason to believe the Unova tour is going to debut shiny Victini, shiny Meloetta, and shiny Keldeo. Also, I am very sure we will eventually get shiny Hoopa huntable in elite raids with Niantic really wanting users to raid in person.

My first Shiny was a Taillow in Ruby. But as I didn't have a backlit screen I didn't realise till I was checking its stats.

The shiny ditto method is one in 64. That sounds really good, but it is like any other. It takes forever. I used it to get Charizard. (You can use a glitch in RBY to get a guaranteed shiny ditto if you trade over a shiny from GSC)

9:25 You can also find shiny Pokémon on any team. Or on the starter rental passes. You can even obtain them if you look for them in the gateway colosseum. Though, if they don’t send the shiny out, you can’t keep it. Then you actually have to beat the colosseum. I figured it’s worth mentioning as I don’t see many people mention it and there are some pretty cool finds on KZfaq. And I got a Snorlax myself from trying it.

@@Newsteevie it’s all good. I first saw it from ShinyCollector’s battlepass hunts. And you can see the gateway colloseum hunts from videos like those of Professor Rex. That’s how I first found out about them. Cool stuff 👍

From my research, the Shiny Charm does seem to stack with the Friend Safari's odds, going from 5/4096 to 7/4096.

Doesn’t anyone else agree that shiny pokemon look WAY BETTER in gens before gen 6? I mean they looked so vibrant and cool. Especially in HGSS where they would follow you around. And in gen 5 when their sprites would move in battle

Sometimes they did, some shiny pokémon and some pokémon in general have improved with the 3D look. Plus, in Gen 6 started to get a lot more specific. They seem to get a lot more genuinely designed, which means a lot better shinies started coming out. Listen I love Sprite artwork and I play the original games all the time. But this 3D model hate boner is so weird to me. Yeah a lot of pokémon got desaturated, but most of the shinies still look really good, and the ones that looked bad still look bad

@@the7569 nah bro. Gen 4 did 3D models perfectly. Gen 8 and 9 sucked ass because they’re very dull and soulless in color and animation. Again GF could do 10 better than what they’re currently producing but they’d rather rush their products instead of making amazing games

@@eclipses3131 Gen 4 didn't have 3D models? It was a sprite-based game? Also 3D models have been around since generation 6 in 2013, so why was it just generations 8 and 9 that sucked? Also, Scarlett and Violet are great? Yeah some of the attack animations are a little bit generic, because they have to work for literally hundreds of pokémon. But the pokémon feel very alive if you actually play the game. Pokémon run around in the wild, they interact with you, they interact with each other. Look at something like Legends Arceus, that game feels super alive as well. Also I didn't know that you worked in the Japanese video game industry, I didn't know that you have knowledge about what it's like to work on the biggest franchise on the planet. Because obviously you must know more than the developers, who are forced on a fast schedule by the pokémon company. It's not game freaks fault, these developers are doing their best, it's the crunch time, they don't rule over pokémon they just make the games. They don't make this release schedule, what are you like 12 years old dude? Because this argument doesn't even make any sense if you actually know anything about what's been going on lol

@the7569 I disagree, SV was not good (or at least I didn't like it) and the world felt very empty, all the pokemon seemed to just stand around doing nothing, but the thing I really have to argue is the fact the games quality is gamefreaks fault, at least to a certain extent because its very well known how the higher ups don't want to expand their teams and have a very poor mentality when it comes to the game design, I dont blame any one working under them but there is a huge problem with the leads at gamefreak and their work ethics, gamefreak should be a team as large as other game companies, really seems like their stuck in their ways and from what employees have said it leads me to believe gamefreak are not a victim of circumstance

@@JBzucc very much lackluster, broken, ugly, ambition-less and stale. I couldn’t be more excited to finally get to play gen 9 but after the first gym it felt like something was missing. Once I reached the area zero, the crystals were incredibly ugly and I realized how horrible the graphics were. Somehow I convinced myself that this would be THE Gen to surpass Gen 5 but it was not. Let’s hope they don’t make Gen 5 games on the horrible Gen 9 engine.

Something neat that i dont think was mentioned is that due to the highly predictable rng in pokemon red/blue and the fact that shinies are IV based, you can somewhat easily find a doable series of inputs that gives you a shiny everytime

You can also get shiny Pokemon in the rental and NPC teams in Battle Revolution. I do not have evidence, but one time when I was doing the battle set where you spin a wheel and pick between your Pokémon and your opponent's, the NPC's team had a shiny Ponyta and I landed on it. And now PLA has a free shiny Ponyta. Edit: On the subject of PLA, I counted my shiny Pokemon from it earlier. At 516 hours, I have 316 shinies because I like the shiny hunting in it so much.

honestly, even with shinies being much more common than before, the surprise of randomly finding a shiny is still there i found a shiny in the first few days of owning pokémon violet, it was a gogoat and it was so exciting! (i, unfortunately, have found many more of these randomly, to the point that i pray to not find one everytime i get close to a place where they spawn)

Some fun triva. Pokemon XD was actually the first game to use a shiny lock, as the shadow Pokemon can not be shiny in that game. It was supposed to be implemented as early as Pokemon Colosseum. But there was an oversight in the programming, allowing for it to turn into a shiny Pokemon once you snag it. They fixed that in the sequel game.

It seems like a common theme to point out mistakes in the comments, so I'll add my own: I'm currently double-hunting in Sun and Ultra-Sun for a shiny Litten, and I have to inform you that USUM's starter hunt is WAAAAAY faster than SM's. Game Freak trimmed a lot of fat off the intro in USUM, and the time that it takes to actually encounter your Pokémon has been improved greatly. It still isn't perfect, there's an awful lot of bullshit still, but it's so much faster getting encounters on USUM.

From what I’m aware of with shiny pokemon plush, there’s mega metagross, mega rayquaza, mega gardevoir, mega gengar, hissuian zorua, celebi, the beast pokedoll trio, several pikachus, magikarp, gyarados (one with a baseball cap via collaberation) and even some shiny pokemon figures too.

Correction: you CAN see shiny pokemon in the regular gameboy. Even though you might not be able to tell the color, the "shiny animation" signals to the player that theyve come across a shiny. (Thats why the animation is there)

Quick correction, in pokémon Gold and silver they split up the special stat into special attack and special defense. They were separate DVs. The singular special stat was exclusively for generation 1.

Not quite. The stats are separate, yes, but in gen 2, there's only one DV used for both stats for some odd reason.

sorry i know the comments is full of corrections and this one is super nitpicky but you said theres no mention of shinies in gsc other than red gyrados. there is actually one trainer npc, if you talk to him after fighting him he says something about some pokemon having different colorations and asks whether or not you think theyre more valuable. for whatever reason i very specifically remember that from my childhood playthroughs

If u have crystal vc u can save before u get ur odd egg wait until u hatch a shiny cleffa evolve it into clefairy and level it up to level 34 then it will learn metronome then encounter ditto, ditto will the transform into your clefairy then continue to battle the ditto and it will eventually use metronome and double transform once it uses transform twice since it’s already clefairy it will copy ur clefairy stats or dvs/ivs and then it will turn into shiny clefairy all u have to do then is catch ditto and it will be a shiny ditto then put it in the daycare along with whatever u want shiny and boom 1/64 egg hatching odds I did this and used my gen 2 shiny dream team with insane 5 percent encounters like miltank that without this Method would take years to get a shiny gen 2 miltank same with hearcross, scarmory I recommend everyone do this it’s a little time consuming but so rewarding gen 2 shinies feel so much more rewarding then all my gen 9 shinies

The Masuda Methode is still the most effective way to hunt shinys 1 to 682 is 0,14% chance to get a shiny per egg and with a shiny pin the chance is 0,19% per egg.

Believe it or not I got 2 shiny zoo bats back to back but I was a kid and didn't know what shines were. But I did know what missing no was. I assumed the zoo bats were my game glitching so I ran from the first and turned my game off at the second out of fear of corrupting my save file.

Man it really was something special hunting for shinnies back in the day. You don't really get that rush as much anymore with all the new ways of getting shinnies in the newer gens. But tbh the craziest shinnies you can ever get are in a fan made game called PokeMMO the base shiny odds are 1/32k it's insane, I got a shiny aron my special little guy

I actually have 2 shiny plushies! Greninja and Rayquazza (yes they’re black shinys, I’m an edgy basterd, plus Greninja is my favorite Pokemon) I bought many plushes that day for I got my first ever pay check ever and saw a sale. I bought, a Lugia, Ash-Greninja, Shiny Greninja, and Shiny Rayquazza. Here’s the funny part, the same plush for regular Rayquazza was there, but there were more Mega, and shiny Rayquazza (I should point out, the Ray Ray plush is not a mega) and assuming the shinys plushies are still in lore and have 1/4096, the like 10 shinys there are really lucky… if it was in game. The luckiest part was all 4 plushies were somehow under $130 all together.

My first shiny I ever encountered was depressing. It was in Pokemon Silver from back in the day. Sigh...I was new to shinies and didn't know why my screen was flashing when a random Larvitar appeared. I thought my game glitched, so I turned off my game boy color. Sadness.

I e got two legit shiny starters that I didn't even hunt for 😂. First time it happened was actually in Sun when I wanted a female Rowlett. I was maybe ten resets in and suddenly the owl that popped on screen looked like an olive. And it was also female! Second time was a Totodile in HeartGold when I was resetting to trade over all of the starters to a different game, meaning to trade back to have all of them in one team. Totally unintentional, just pretty lucky. First ever shiny I've ever found was in Eternal Forest in Diamond. I was looking to evolve my Eevee into a Leafeon, in fact the very first Leafeon I ever got. It was a shiny Wurmple I randomly bumped into. It is now a Beautifly still sitting in Bank.

Shiny Pokémon normaly have a sparkle effect when you start a battle with them.

@@eazyb8567 In games like Lets GO the also have a sparkle effect on the over world, in Legens you hear a sound effect if a Shiny is near by, but in Scarlet/Violet there isn't anything. In all these games Shinys are also in the overworld shiny, so you can also see them by being a different color than normal. Ponita as example has blue flames insted of red, Magicarp is golden, Eevee is silver, etc. Shiny Pokémon are as strong as normal Pokémon.

@@eazyb8567if you’re talking about marks in pokémon scarlet and violet, it’s a title that appears on the pokémon when you send it into battle. So instead of it saying “You sent out Gloom” it might say something like “You sent out Gloom the Sociable”. They dont affect gameplay or stats or anything and there’s a 1/50 chance (i think) to get a mark on a pokémon you catch. If that isn’t what you mean please lmk
