a few years back I had company so we needed a large van to get everyone in one vehicle for all our sightseeing int he southwest, we put a few thousands miles on it easy and tell you what, that was one of the nicest vehicles I ever drove PERIOD, car, truck, SUV anything, it handles very well, accelerates well ,brakes well, ours was a hybrid so tooling around all the parks on battery saving gas was very nice, it gets very good MPG, automated sliding side doors on both sides can be actuated from many spots, driver, from the outside, inside, simple push of a button open/close.. all in all everyone loved the van, very comfortable, the kids way in back enjoyed their own spot and climate control, the cooling int eh southwest was perfect, not too cold not too warm.. perfect, i drove it over 800 miles in one day no problems at all, very comfortable for long hauls, very nice rig for sure, I wanted to buy one, should have but didn't, got a truck, prolly could have hauled motorcycles in this van removing seats and adding a ramp but decided against it.. well see if the truck is comfortable for everyone next time, sadly we wont be able to reach our coolers in the back, maybe have room fora small one in the truck.. that's ok tho, but that was nice being able to access everything from inside the van without stopping or getting out..

Yes!!! That's a huge problem!!! Always motion detector lights under the hood, hood opened while parked, sprinkling the engine with cayenne pepper or an essential oil like lavender and mostly, parking a few feet away from the brush... everyone out there will give you a different recipe to keep them away! 🤨😖

People calling the police due to animals being left in vehicles when it is far too hot for them to survive is very common here South. It is quite common, I could tell you plenty of true horror stories.. It's hard for me to understand how people can be so ignorant or uncaring. So I'm glad people do call the police. But not everyone realizes, because they are not really common yet, that some hybrid vehicles can leave the A/C running even if you don't hear an engine running, so putting up a sign is quite good so that those that care about animals will know that your specific vehicle can leave the AC running and your pet is safe yet get help for the animals who are not so well cared for.
@Manyroadsnorules
@Manyroadsnorules 6 ай бұрын
Absolutely!!! Yes, it is a horror story that also happens to children. So very sad. I thought the sign is a genius solution! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
@jenne8180
@jenne8180 6 ай бұрын
@@Manyroadsnorules yes, I just did not even want to mention how often it happens to children. I've lived in the very hot humid south all my life (so far) and I've always had pets and children and I just can't wrap my mind around how people can do such things. I'm always very cognizant of the heat or cold or hydration and how they might be affected. SMH (shaking my head). I'm currently considering a hybrid minivan for that very reason. my 16 year old pit bull has very recently passed but animals (more specifically dogs) have always been in my life and it it difficult for me to not get one again right now. But I am very close to retiring and I want to travel (van life in some form) for awhile. But I also realize that many of the national parks that I want to visit do not allow dogs on the trails so I either need to wait a bit (do/see those first) or be sure that I have the right vehicle/system in place to take care of them. I'm certainly thinking of a hybrid but.... just so many decisions in the beginning. I do think it would be best if I wait and visit "most" of the things I want to see (where dogs are not allowed) before I adopt another dog (and I will always adopt). But at the same time, it is very difficult for me to live with out a dog in my life. That is just how important they have always been. But I also want to hike and see some areas of the US that they would not be allowed to go with me :-)
@Manyroadsnorules
@Manyroadsnorules 6 ай бұрын
@jenne8180 I thought of all those same things too! I lived in my minivan 2 1/2 years before adopting Lua because I didn't want to put an animal through the demands of the nomad life. Now that I'm enjoying being in remote places, taking my sweet time, I can take care of her properly. I have already walked many trails by myself and now I'm ready to take care of her. Which brings us to the point of those careless people again. If they can't take care of anyone else but themselves, they shouldn't have anyone else in their lives! Sad but true. Thank you for sharing and hope to meet you down the road some day!!! 😊🤗🥰

In the UK people smash the car windows and ask questions later. This is if they have watched the car for 30+ minutes or so, depending on the heat. Accepted practice.

Love Oregon. Particularly the northern and coastal areas. The Columbia River Gorge is spectacular. Also the western end of the Columbia River is also great. The Willamette, and McKenezie rivers are also great. Oregon is full of lakes, rivers, water falls, mountains, and the high desert. Just a beautiful state. I now call it home and feel privileged to live here.

@@Manyroadsnorules ❤️😊😊. You too. Did I tell you I got a puppy. We got him free The lady wanted $100 dollars but I told her I didn’t have the money. I didn’t want to pay for a dog because it always cost so much when you first get one. I had been looking at the humane shelters but no small dogs were available. Anyways. This dog is. Chihuahua pug mix I think a little over a year old. He is a boy and we still have to get him neutered. He has a limp and we got X-rays after getting some shots and he has to have surgery. He has bone on bone in his leg hip joint. I know it’s painful even though he doesn’t act like it. Just. Doesn’t use his back leg. I love animals and don’t want him to suffer. We gave the kitty away to a good home. I’m not a cat person I like cats but was afraid he was going to jump on top of my woodstove. Anyhow. This free dog is going to cost me a fortune. Your pup Lua is so beautiful. You will have so much fun. Our dogs are lucky to have such loving owners. I know this was long. lol ❤️❤️

There are several critters that could be attracted to some cables in the engine that taste good to them and to the warmth of the engine as well. It could be mice, voles, rats... depending on the area. I've heard that some cables are made with a material that's made with certain oils these animals are attracted to. We all use motion detection lights, cayenne pepper sprinkled on the engine, leaving the hood open, etc. Each nomad has their own formula 😄

I suppose voles and other desert creatures do not like lights, they are used to being in extremely dark places so a flashing light is just scary to them and they stay away from that. 😱
