This is a treasure trove, I have not seen many of these. Patrick Moore was a household name in the UK: he presented an astronomy show in the BBC for fifty-five years.

Edna Mayne Hull is a Canadian SF writer of some note. On the other hand, Paul Lorraine is a well-known house name. The illustration for the Tubb book is probably Ron Turner, he was doing a lot for both Tubb in general and Milestone at the time. There is a lot of this kind of thing over on Phil Harbottles channel (50s British Science Fiction). It's a bit of a slog and unfortunately seems to be inactive at the moment but you could try hitting him up

It looks like Planets for Sale is a A.E Van Vogt novel according to Goodreads.

Yes, but the super weird thing is that that copy is attributed to Van Vogt's wife, Edna May Hull Van Vogt. None of the PB versions that I've encountered give any attribution to Van Vogt's wife, only Van Vogt. I'll have to dig a little deeper. Edited to add; so it looks like attribution to Hull is on the paperback covers of Planets for Sale, but it's in fine print beneath her husband's name. Never even noticed before. Crazy.

@@thebookrapport-cx8kh Huh, I wonder if they either co-wrote a revised edition together or if the publisher put Vogt’s name on the book since he was more well known. Perhaps his wife was more prolific than the publishers wanted people to think back then.

@@zkinak2107I'd definitely like to know the whole story. From what I gathered she was busy writing while Van Vogt was working for the Canadian state department during the war. I imagine it was a "marketing decision", but I can' help but think there was some amount of "males make sales" sprinkled in. I'll do some more research and get to the bottom of it. It would probably make an interesting video.

@@thebookrapport-cx8kh For sure! I never knew his wife wrote tbh. Also your book hauls have legit been nuts! You really have stumbled upon some nearly lost and rare material.
