Thank you for your honest review. As a single woman, I'm always wary of Bibles and books aimed at women because they lean heavily on marriage and children. While I understand that these are issues for many women, they aren't for me. I want to see more actual Bible study rather than that. I'm excited to get my hands on this Bible because it seems to be more scholarly than devotional. And the NLT is the translation I go for most often so I'm also happy about that.

Great review. Thank you. I’ve just ordered this. I’m a new Christian and doing a bible study with the ESV but I’m really looking for a bible that “speaks” to me. I don’t care for devotions and I like the setup of this one. I have so many bibles I’m hoping this is the one.

While I prefer the NIV version, I did order this (just now) based on this review. I'm 57 and a newer Christian. Frequently your commentary is way over my head, however, I've watched you long enough to know that your reviews will be honest. I appreciate that, Thank you.

Great review. I'm super excited about this. FINALLY an egalitarian study Bible and global female contributors-- for conservative believers. So awesome. I do agree don't waste pages on fluff or pre-highlighted verses. I definitely would have preferred more notes. But you could feel good about handing this to a teen, a new believer, or a non- studious person that you don't want to overwhelm or intimidate. Face it, these days us hard- core Bible nerds or scholars are not really lacking in resources (or all the Bible versions and the original languages) --right from our phone. Also, yes, it needs to be in other versions...BUT then it might not be Filament connected. The one thing I would have changed about your excellent and thorough review is to keep mentioning Filament later on, so that people are reminded that they are getting more notes and study helps than what is printed in the Bible. But Tyndale really need to beef up the filament notes as well. There is a note on Laodicea in Filament and it's OK, but not long enough to do it justice, especially in light of the fact that we all have heard the wrong view of "cold" many times. Since it's digital anyway, they can add more thorough notes to Filament, and they really should work on that. Go Tyndale! They consistently have superior notes for the average person...pro-women and pro-intimate relationship with a Loving God, open to the Holy Spirit. Also, always the most popping full color aesthetic for those who love that. Also I just have to push back a little on you being too soft on hard complementarianism. Sure, don't say stupid things like they all aren't real Christians or whatever. But if you had to spend all day every day trying to put women back together whose life or faith were destroyed by complementarian teaching or attitudes, including women who were severely abused, or who specifically saw abuse get worse after their dad or husband read a famous best-selling Christian complementarian marriage resource or parenting book or heard a teaching...well, you would be pretty passionate about it too, and be pushing back pretty hard. 25% of women have been abused, brother. Including in the church by "Christian" men. We aren't talking about something rare here. The women who stay in the faith aren't bitter or man-haters. But we are fed-up, and saying with the holocaust survivors "Never again." There are 100 million women missing from the world population because of femicide. Women in America are more likely to be killed by their significant other than almost any other cause of death. Complementarianism kills. We can't take it lightly or treat it like an alternative view of the Nephilim. Ideas have consequences. But keep up the good work!🥰 I will be heavily sharing this video!

100% agree with you about hard comp/neo-pats. Egalitarianism saved my faith and saved my life. Those teachings coupled with untreated severe postpartum depression had me with a plan to end it once my eldest stopped breastfeeding. (I sought help during covid time, I was told it was just fear of the virus.) I cried out to God, begging, that what I was hearing was not His Gospel because if it was it was not a good news for women. Show me Your Gospel. That next week, I found out about egalitarianism. In less than 6 months, I was no longer having ideations and got my husband to stop attending that congregation. I go to church with our youngest, but I can not get our eldest to go without Daddy, and he was wrecked by all the teachings that groomed or downright told him to be abusive.

I hate "ewe's fluffy", too. I want the study of the Bible to address us as "in Christ, there is no male or female", with some real depth and putting the modt important things first, then, on a secondary basis, address the issues of both sexes, fairly and caringly about both. But it is so important that what we both need the most, isn't about those make-female issues. There is a time for looking beyond them.

I usually despise Bibles (and many other resources) directed at women for various reasons, but I actually pre-ordered this Bible. It's not patronizing or focused on the trope of "Biblical womanhood" or pretty without substance. I DO like that it's pretty though. No reason why something can't be both beautiful and functional!

I definitely know that not everyone knows how to look up a verse in the Bible. One of my dear friends who has since graduated to be with the Lord did not know this, I was doing Bible study with her and one of the things the Lord had me teach her just exactly everything was when it came to chapters, verses, and books in the Bible.

First timer here I actually prefer the ESV or NKJV but have never had a study Bible. My first bible as a child was the NIV and it’s falling apart! I’m deaf and so are some of my sisters in Christ. My husband preferred the action bible. It was easier for him to understand. He’s home with Jesus now. I’m a widow and a bookworm!

That being said, I can think of two young women I would buy this Bible for as a gift because the solid content written from and for women’s points of view would really appeal to them.

I did buy the bible based on your review. I am hoping for similar projects, utilizing women scholars as contributors in a different translation in the future. As to your comment about the notes on the household codes etc being all in the egalitarian side - from my perspective, every resource I've ever seen growing up was always completely on the complimentarian side and I've had to go digging and searching for any and all resources that teach mutuality. Complimentarian sources almost never acknowledge mutualist perspectives in their notes and commentary.

I appreciated seeing the pages of all of the Black-Belt Shelogians who contributed to the study notes!!! and the many women from around the globe who contributed other content! That is pretty cool! That's a big selling point for me. This doesn't seem like an airy-fairy-fluff Bible. It looks meaty 🙂 I do wish they had cross references, but that's not a deal breaker if you have a secondary study Bible with cross-referance. I also like the access to additional content online, that's a cool feature. Thanks for reviewing this 👍🏼🙂

I am a 45 year old woman who is considering this Bible but is very turned off by the scripture "Pinterest" pages as you call them, which is spot on. Thank you for the review. I had actually ordered this already and was so excited while waiting for it to arrive, I was pouring through vids about it. I appreciate your scholarly review. I am not a bible scholar. I wouldn't know that the study notes are "one sided," but now that I do because of your review, it makes me want to learn both sides. I primarily purchased this, as it seems to be as close as I can get to the bible I fell in love with in 2013 (and have worn to death, to the point of having to replace it) which is The Woman's Study Bible by Thomas Nelson. I don't know if you think that one is frou-frou, but I do love that bible because of the study notes and additional information it has (similar, I think, to this one.) That one is KJV, which is what I grew up on, so have no issues with reading. I grew up in a Southern Baptist "KJV ONLY!!!!/Scofield" church back in the 70s/80s, so even though I appreciate other translations, it was a hard leap to even move to a NKJV (I have one, but honestly have not read a single page of it!) I've heard good things about the NLT, and am looking forward to exploring it, especially in the context of this particular study bible. My intent is to use my Thomas Nelson KJV Woman's Study Bible and this NLT Every Womans Bible in tandem for my future studies. Thank you again for your in depth, informative, review.

This exact Bible and color is on its way to my doorstep. I have several women’s Bibles and I have to admit the color and themes always draw me in, but I am always sort of turned off by the overpowering devotionals and women character profiles. Don’t get me wrong, I like character profiles, I just don’t understand why they all have to be women because it’s a woman’s Bible. I still love the profiles on the men! Every Bible for women has the same women profiles over and over. I got this one for the aesthetics, notes, and really hoping for more study content although I am not really a NLT reader as a main Bible. I appreciate your thoughts and insights on this Bible and I am more interested in studying with it alongside my other translations for further notes. Love your channel! As a young woman (22), the first Bible I actually purchased was an Oxford Annotated with Apocrypha… So I’m here for the full-fleshed debates, translator’s notes, and historical context! However, for a first read through, well over a thousand pages was just too much for me. Reading an NIV arranged in chronological order now, gifted to me, but looking forward to possibly purchasing something like this next to deepen my knowledge after completely reading the bible once through. LOVED to see so many women scholars!

I am so happy that we finally have a Bible geared towards women though with so much substance and not so much “fluff” or condescending content, like: No maps, babying or hand holding. I really like that it is so good at teaching the basics and even has a study bible page to help you take notes. Thanks for the in-depth review! I´ve preordered my copy just now. As a German I´m used to highlighted verses as it is common in the Luther bible translation to have what Luther considered key verses boldened. So it doesn´t bother me. The whole concept of egalitarianism vs. complementarianism is very foreign to me as roughly 50 % of our evangelical pastors are ordained women. I love American study bibles and own quite a few as German study bibles are very few (or translations of MacArthur, Ryrie etc). I usually don´t like study bibles for women (exception the CSB Study Bible for Women) so I´m excited for this one with solid scholarship.

There's just something that is just wrong with "woman's" or "men's" towards religious books. I'm sorry, I'm going to call it out as I think it is. Why not just keep it at having one version where everything is covered (which no study Bible truly has done so far, very irritating) and not just limit it to what is considered stereotypical or desired (genderroles) from the religious perspective. It feels like toxic propaganda to me in one way or another. Sure , have some artsy differences, I'm all for that, but the labeling and content should not be s3x oriented. Even when it comes to layout I find it annoying that f.e. men can not like flowers or fancy lining and women can not like a pure black binding with metal finishings.. Why do we have to put ourselves into boxes like that, with the only result that it can have is being judged for having a "women's" stamped on the Bible as a guy or vice versa.. Propaganda/marketing are words that come to mind thinking about this. For clarification, I'm not talking about f.e. "women in the Bible" or "men in the Bible", which is something that can be done perfectly. It's still neutral from a "learning" perspective. If "men" do not ask the question to why Eve got "punished", then that is a problem in itself (which I think labeling of roles or Bibles is in part the cause of that). And what's even more, it is a problem that should not be discussed in "women's" versions only. Like what the heck? Aren't we all humans together who should learn from eachother? The Bible ought to be approached from a neutral position, regardless of s3x or gender. And yes, the misogynistic approach to certain study Bibles is def. part of that toxic genderrole propaganda/marketing. It limits learning (and is somewhat insulting I feel). As usual, great review. Ty for sharing.

I am not a "girly-girl" and am dismayed at how gendered the covers of many Bibles are, even those not explicitly marketed to men or women. I don't want a Bible in camo print or pink sparkles, I just want a normal Bible that looks like an adult owns it - and preferably not in black or anything weird, like orange and lime 😢 I'm happy with my Navy/Tan NIV study bible, but it was a long process sifting through too many gendered or ugly choices to find it. That said, I like the olive green NLTs.

Just saying I really enjoyed your review. I would definitely take this off your hands, but I don't blame you for keeping it. Men and women absolutely have different focuses and men need to know how women see things, IMO. I also wish Revelation had scholarly contributions, but perhaps women haven't chosen that area for biblical scholastic study for whatever reason. Egalitarian? Complementarian? I have no idea what those words even mean.

Thanks for your review. I really appreciate your approach. I agree with you, the publishers would have done better to not highlight verses. I am grateful they are highlighted in dull brown so they don’t jump off the page at me but still, unless the authors are going to expound on why these verses were chosen specifically then highlighting them seems odd. 1 Kings 6:9? Really? (the oddest one I’ve come across so far but others are equally off my radar) I don’t have an opinion yet on the other features.

The print does look too small for somebody who is visually impaired and the red letter isn't good for someone with low vision. I have a question, how come absolutely no Bible reviewer ever talks to the publishers about making a Bible for people who are visually impaired, mostly blind, or that just want a physical Bible that they can read? I wish that people with a platform who have the publisher's attention would take note and talk to them about this. The sad part about all this is that these are supposed to be Christian publications and Christian reviewers that exclude the people that need a physical Bible probably more desperately than people who have stacks of them on their shelves but don't read.

Unfortunately, Bible publishing is a big business and since there would not be a widespread market for such products, publishers won't create them for mass market. My blind friends use audio Bibles and/or screen reading apps or software, so you are the first person I've heard make such a suggestion for printed Bibles for visually impaired readers.

@@DiscipleDojoBut there's more people out there than you realize with this disability. Just think of the elderly population for example. They may not be disabled with blindness but their eyes are diminished just due to age. I feel that the Christian Bible reviewers have a responsibility to make this known to the publishers. This is part of the reason why they don't publish books is because they don't see the need for it even though this should be a no-brainer for people who are supposed to be Christians and be inclusive of everyone.

Personally, I am in the middle about the frufu stuff, either way is fine either way me. However, I use several study bibles, life application, ESV Study, and others. I find it gives me a more fleshed out understanding of whatever I’m studying at the time. Thank you for this review. I do teach a ladies class and I recommend bibles for them depending on where they are on their walk. Many are newer Christian’s and the BLT with Filament is perfect. Some aren’t technically savvy so Filament might not work for them. We are given the lessons with commentary, sometimes the Life Principles commentary. Also Dr. Thomas Constable’s Expository Notes at the Plano Bible Church website. We are also free to look elsewhere, and to go as deep as we feel comfortable with.

Thanks for the review! I always dreamed about a beautiful study bible with the aesthetics (colours, fonts, layout) but with very solid and rich in theology and commentary, but not geared only to women with women related themes, or elements, like the quotes from women, or devotionals.. I rather the space be used for note writing.. I wish there were substantial and honest representations of the different camps, with regards to predestination, egalitarian vs complementarian..Pretrib etc. I get this is a woman's bible from women for women, but this is a bit much lol. I definitely laughed and appreciated at the manna vs modern day snacks and welcome these, and I appreciated the question on Lot's shady offering his daughters as sexual slaves, but idk if the little note offered much commentary apart from 'yeah this is not a nice thing Lot did and Jesus understands this unfairness.' It's a valid question, and i was eager to read more on this. I do appreciate more info on the parts that offer historical context and timeline.. but also wished the bible also provided write ups on male and female characters and where to read more of them. Also sorry to hear revelation is left uncommented. Also, i already own the NLT study bible, which is lovely but overly huge. For these reasons I will continue my search for a gorgeous study bible..and keep my eye on your channel for more of such bible reviews!😊 I'm also not anti women, otherwise my bibles won't all be NLT and a pink NIV... and my highlighters and pens are all rainbow colours. I just really enjoy theology as well and feel disappointed how shallow some of the women's bibles have been. I also believe some male scholars can provide great notes that also benefit a women's bible, so I'm wondering if by limiting only women writers in women's bible somehow also reduces the amount of potential study notes we could get like say in revelation.

@@DiscipleDojo Thanks! I'll do that. I appreciated this review, and I obviously acknowledge the importance of having female academics involved in any Bible releases. (I'm doing my D.Min in Leadership, researching spiritual abuse.) I just got done watching the She Reads Truth Bible review, and you mentioned that it was only male academics. I find that problematic as well... however, it's hard to find the male academics for this Bible. Once again, especially being a woman in ministry in a conservative area, I recognize the importance of female academics. I'm not trying to discredit, I'm just wondering what your thoughts are here, too. Can there be a balance?

🌺💐🌸🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 YES on …different versions! I still really love Thomas Nelson’s NKJV , Also in KJV and NIV’s Women’s Study Bibles. Lots of charts, good notes, maps throughout, it’s “pretty” lol, and I love it for some of the women who contributed, some not with us anymore. I think Thomas Nelson needs to update their Women’s Study Bible, not just redecorate the covers. I’m in my 50’s, so yeah… Not thrilled about the PRE HIGHLIGHTED verses, no biggy. But I will purchase this Bible. I’m seasoned enough to read pretty much any Bible. Look forward to looking at some different views. I’m a Calvary Chapel girl. So, I really love diving into the word. Also, putting myself in those particular time eras, is VERY helpful. I cracked up when I saw Our snacks compared to Manna! LOL! You gotta laugh! 🤣. Thanks again. Always love your deep reviews. I just ordered this Bible after watching the review and seeing the women scholars who are involved with the Bible. Marg Mowzcko has reviewed the NLT and was not complimentary, so I wish there were other versions of the Bible. However, I have many versions at home and will just use those to compare and contrast. Lastly, I will say that I have completely avoided "women's" Bibles because they are 9 times out of 10 just fluff. For those of us who are serious about Bible study and not caring for the complementarian approach those Bibles marketed to women take, this new Bible sounds promising.

I'm not familiar with the ESV Women's study Bible firsthand, but from what I can tell it is an adaptation of the ESV Study Bible with devotionals by women authors. I'm wondering if the manna article was a joke that made it to print... 🤣 Because it just sounds like a funny office thing, not to be taken seriously. And when you're writing papers and doing scholarly work (older bible college student here), you tend to write jokes in the notes to stay focused (and yes, they're taken out after). But that's just my opinion on it. Other then that, this bible sounds like a good buy. As a female, I've never liked the bibles marketed to women as they always seemed like fluff and girly pretty. Of which I'm not. I like meat in my bible and always been interested in getting deep since I was 11. Most people that I've talked to recently, men and women of various ages, all want the deep meaning and teaching of scripture. And at the very least, churches might consider having a class on Hermeneutics for anyone interested in looking beyond the basics.

I had a question. Do Protestants use any post-Reformation Orthodox/Catholic resources to develop their theological ideas and study notes? As I understand they have the religious ideology of Sola/Prima Scriptura, and they use classical Latin & Greek Church/Apostolic Fathers resources (also the Reformation figures writings), but not the post-reformation Catholic/Orthodox resources.

Another excellent review, as always. Question: By chance do you know of bible that uses the names Yeshua and Yahweh instead of Jesus and God? It's my understanding Jesus and God are titles but Yeshua and Yahweh are their actual names? Can you speak on this and also point me in the direction of a bible that uses their names in place of their titles? A friend recommended a bible called "The Scriptures" by the institution for Scripture research. But I looked at the reviews and saw a few that mentioned there isn't any history showing where they found their information. So I am hesitant. Any insight you might be able to give me, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
