Today (Sunday) I was Zoom host for the online version of a Church service, then I pottered about in our garden. I've been busy Lambing all day

Hi Olly, had a good day today cutting grass in the paddock ready to sow some wild flower seeds to keep the bees happy, burning rubbish and having a tidy up round the place. Edward and I were watching our old neighbours planting spuds the other day, 14 tractors in the field working, I wouldn’t fancy that cost, £400 an acre rent for extra ground,all for Walkers crisps!

Spud men are going to struggle with high use of diesel and I believe the crop also needs a lot of fert. If it dry it’s more fuel to irrigate. Interesting to see where the price will be to make any money.

Really enjoyed today's video Olly - good to see the spuds going in. Always seems to be a lot of kit involved with spuds! Had our first barbeque today and been getting ready to head off to France for a few days with the family.

Enjoyable video today Olly. Great to see how spuds are planted en mass unlike mine in their 30 litre buckets. I’ve been planting veg, carrots, turnip, beetroot, onions,radish and parsnips in the veg beds. Also planted a couple of apple and pear trees.

Day off today but cooked a roast dinner for the family great video of the potato planting kit we had a Grimme combistar destoner from new in the late 1990's by the looks of it they haven't changed at all since then still a brilliant machine.

I loved using the stone separator on the back of the John Deere 2850 over thirty years ago, it's crazy to think we were able to plant in a straight line on hilly fields without GPS.

That bird is a yellow wagtail, also on the row next to it there was a pied wagtail, they are very distinctive because of them literally wagging their tails like dogs 😭, interesting video as always!

farming , what else does one do on Easter Sunday. Unlike one off our previous agricultural minsters who thought cows were not milked at the weekend . OH what a wonderfull wee country wee live ni .

We always marked the field out with a bed former then put the bed tiller through then the de-stoners .. plus there would be power harrowing sometimes before the marking out.. and the marking out was done without GPS. back then.. with straight drills most of the time 😁.. but GPS has made it easier..

Turned the cattle out to grass yesterday, spring barley all in, so took the day off and headed through East, stopped by a friends place in Fife where he was still finishing off his barley, and a coffee at Gloagburn on the way home, never saw Crawford today, think he might have been hiding somewhere pretending to be busy 🤣🤣 95%

Hi great informative vlog see potato kit around all the time but not at work, did usual sheep chores, went to church rang bells for Easter Sunday service, organised a boat trip for this afternoon but was cancelled because of rough seas off Land's End, so had roast lamb with all the trimmings, but the dogs knicked the left over leg of lamb off the carving tray, meant for our lunch tomorrow Grrr

I used to do the de-stoning and cart seed potatoes for Walker's crisps when they grew them this way.

Any wonder the water does be lying on the soil after the spuds are lifted, the soil is that fine and all stones are removed. Do you not think it leaves the soil cold without the stones for your next crop as stones hold the heat?
