To be fair the industrial gearboxes that David brown started making ( radicon) were very well made and reliable. Bet there are still thousands churning away in old factories. Amazed how small that gearbox is.

Old db box basically a slightly beefed up box out a 91 hp 1410 box n most 1690ts were putting out a little more than rated so shock loading extra 20hp in angry mode didn’t help, hydrashift was smoother 1st gear n reverse usually took brunt of abuse as only syncromesh between 2 and 3 with the transfer case bearing I wonder if it’s done a lot of heavy cultivation work n banging between 1st n reverse turning on headlands , be worth changing that clutch for the LUK unit as one local to me made ventilation hole in the bellhousing lol

I see your massive combine header in the background! What model Claas Lexion is it. My friend Stuart Hancock a local contractor is getting a Lexion for me to drive next season. We got heart set on a 460 evolution. Check my latest video if you want to, i got silver 1962 Claas Europa just a couple weeks back. I ran it up yesterday for its first run in 20 odd years. Very little needs doing to it. I reckon 2 full days work would see it spot on. I bet it would do a 10 acre day as it is. How did the combine John o groats to lands end plan come on so far! Im looking into doing a little vintage harvest event in the Banbury Chipping Norton area. I got a few combines now so be good to put them to good use. Plus plenty of people wanting to help. We need some other harvest kit ie balers, trailers n tractors. Should be good for the local community. I hope to be able to donate some money to a couple of charities close to my heart.
