A330neo MRTT? Airbus Considers Development Of A New Tanker Transport

Airbus is in the process of considering whether to go ahead with the development of a next-generation multi-role tanker transport (MRTT). Based on its A330neo platform, the aircraft would be a replacement to the fairly well-received A330 MRTT, based on the A330-200.

My understanding is that MRTTs are mostly converted airframes, and very few are brand new airframes.

I don't think so. Canada's A330 MRTTs are all newbuilds.

@@michaelrmurphy2734 so are the RAAFs and the RAF I believe are all conversions. I think the RAAF have or are converting some old Qantas A330-200s.

Wouldn’t say just the B787 also swapped their A330CEO for A350. Maybe in years to come look at A350 being aMRTT?

Well, they still have Mcdonald Douglas and boeing aircraft that are covering the same jobs, boeing is still producing the 767 for freight and military use.

@@JestonSunThe USAF wanted the A330 MRTT originally. Boeing objected USAF got the outdated 767/KC-46.
