You need some level of classical vocal training for theater, while pop singers don’t. The latter focus more on style and genre, it’s just a different kind of talented :)

@@kb-ih7ni you don't NEED classical training for theatre, but it certainly is a huge asset to theatre performers since it's a great, solid technical foundation and that technique helps you sing about any musical theatre genre! A lot of Broadway performers have never even studied classical voice, actually. Or had any vocal training in general

FYI, Hurt is an original song by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Johnny Cash did a great cover, though. But Reznor is the mind behind that masterpiece.
