Abandoned Urbex Canada

Күн бұрын

This abandoned farmhouse mansion sits on over 40 acres. Such a beautiful spot with half the property forested and also sits right next to a large pond. The previous owners lived in this house since 1997 and they sold the property in 2016 for 14 million dollars for land value. It has been sitting abandoned ever since waiting to be demolished for new homes. Sadly I took to long to explore and film this location as it was vandalized pretty bad. I'm unaware on how old the original house was in the middle. I'm assuming early 1900's and the additions that was built on each side in the 1970's.

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

That plastic device from the "wine cellar" is an airlock for a carboy. It's used in making wine to allow the fermentation gases to escape and keep air and bacteria out. My late husband and I made wine for many years and used those on the fermentation vessels. Thank you for pointing out the different types of construction in the building. There is certainly a difference between horse hair plaster & lathe and mudded sheetrock. The thickness of the walls is one indicator, as you pointed out. There were some exterior walls with no insulation at all, and other with pink fiberglass. The cellar is the best place to see differing construction because you've got most of the utilities there, electrical components, types of piping used in the plumbing, water access and central heat, etc. , as well the obvious foundation and cellar wall construction materials. I will say the destruction of this place was next level; like a group of insane rioters went at it hard. Just goes to show the minds of some people.

It breaks my heart to see what was once likely a beautiful property abandoned and forgotten. But it breaks it even more, as you waded through a sea of glass, to see the destruction that creatures with nothing better to do create. Even though the house was abandoned and set to be demolished (to make room for a collection of identical, nondescript houses), no one had the right to destroy “just because”. But I appreciate what you do - letting us travel with you to imagine what was.

Unfortunately every generation has its destructive element, I can remember my grandparents in the 50's and 60's saying similar things about the youth of that era. It is only a tiny minority of 'youths' that do this sort of thing.

This place kind of reminds me of a place up in Northern Ontario. My dad had a construction company but has retired from the big jobs. In his retirement years he now mainly looks after a group of 'cabins' in a certain area around Fort Frances. I put quotes on cabins because to any non-millionaire they would be very nice large homes. These clients are a mix of wealthy Canadians and Americans. Then there is one particular client who happens to be worth over a hundred mill. Anyways this particular person bought a cabin in the 80's and wanted some work done which is how my dad started working for them. First it was a front deck, then it was some dock work, then it was an extension on the garage, and then it was an addition onto the cabin, and then another one, and then they wanted the cabin to look the same on both sides so there was another edition, etc. Now approximately 40 years later the 900 square foot cabin is 6,000 ft (and the original two car garage has seven stalls). Anyways the way this place was set up kind of reminds me of the place around fort Frances. It's got the old part in the middle and then on either side are the additions.

I guess the owner sold the house as you said for land value, but before the person who bought the land could put his idea of building houses into play the pandemic happened and the value of the building skyrocketed and I am sure everything got put on hold. Now some developer is going to be bankrupt or may someday be able to build the houses they started out to do but for a lot more money. He may be looking for more investors. 14 million can change your perspective. You could easily get used to a new address with that kind of money. Maybe they got dibs on a brand new mansion overlooking the best possible spot?? Hey Brent, Another great adventure. It burns me to see how destructive some people can be. No respect. I think the only thing that wasn't bent or broken, was the stain glass light cover in the bathroom, and the mirror in the upstairs one. They must have been working on the home at the time of sale, because it looks like none of the windows have their casings around them. OR the kids have torn them off? It would have made a nice home if it had been completed.

Very interesting, such a shame that a place like that comes to such a sad end. Its still basically sound.

Thanks for sharing Brent, Certainly a property with some wealthy previous owners.I am guessing they were neighbors of the Eaton family"s compound on another ajoining lake in this region.Maybe the buyeror currennt owner passed awya or went back to thier native country!

Always sad to see stuff like this. Faded memories of good times and now nature slowly reclaiming everything. Abandoned places are a reminder of the fragility of life IMO

I believe @ethanminnie did this year's ago before vandals got at it. It was so nice! Thank you for capturing it now. It's so sad and ridiculous how stupid people are. I just don't understand it, what's the point! I love your videos!

its not that far out in the sticks, at 19:44 you can see recently built houses in the top right. This leads me to believe that this house had ALOT of land and a developer bought the land for said new builds. The house is worth 1.5mill max, but the 40-50 new builds are going for around 700-800k in Ontario so ooof.

Great to see a new video. Always sad to see what the home could have looked like when someone living there. Hope you had your steal toe boots one. The stairs down to the basement from outside. My grandparents had that. But there were doors on it. So no one could fall in. My grandparents home was built in the late 1800. There son did add on after both of my grandparents passed away. Why were there so many washing machines in the basement and even a stove??? Do you think it could have been all family living there and having there own section of the house,?? Just an idea. Have a great Christmas and New Years with family and friends. Stay healthy and safe😀

How much time and effort it takes to construct a house like that. Then it's abandoned and trashed.. So very very sad.. But good find Brent👍🏼

Great exploration...I will never understand why people will come along to trash a place, if it's abandoned, then just leave it AS IS, why ruin the place?...and if it's Property you seek to destroy, then maybe you should be seeking a Therapist......Sheeeeeesh!

Well this one left me cold. Even without the vandalism this seemed a soulless place. I imagine the last owners were looking for something to spend their money on. A pity it wasn't left in it's original state.
