Exploring With Boss

A look around an old disused Boeing 747, judging by the build she's an early 1990s bird.
Its been out of service since the middle of 2016, so she's just awaiting her day in the scrap yard. Some parts will be cut off and recycled, where the rest will just be scrapped.
Most of the plane is still intact and we managed to squeeze into all different areas such as the cargo hold etc.
The cockpit alone is worth around 70K and the scrap value on the rest of the plane is around 30K

God I worked on that aircraft from when it was delivered to when it was scraped. Annoyingly the aircraft got to retire before me. Having done 28 years with British Airways, I still have a few more to go. Sad to see an aircraft that I would have flown on regularly, in such a sorry state. Great video though, thanks for posting.

Exploring With Boss I did 13 years and feel sad too. Often in the cockpit for landings and take offs - all pre-911 they would let staff and engineers up there

I sat in the cockpit of a 747-200 on a flight from Brisbane to Singapore, many years ago. The problem wasn't getting in, it was getting out - I made the mistake of telling the captain what I did for a living, then couldn't stop him talking. LOL

Has anyone here flown on G-AWNG? That was my first flight, ever, in February 1974. This looks more modern inside. I believe the in flight film back in ‘74 was ‘The Sugarhill Express’ Is there any potential for old 747´s to be converted to budget accommodation?

Thank You for posting the video-very interesting to see the upper deck all empty and the crew rest area at at the back. Sad that the 747 may not be around much longer in passenger service they are a magical aeroplane to fly on. There's flying, then there's flying on a 747. Long live the Queen of the skies.

Airbus dosent just have foot peddles, they have a side stick/joy stick to the side of the pilots. Boeing has a yoke instead. The peddles are for the rudder on the vertical stabiliser.
@woahspaghetti6069
@woahspaghetti6069 7 жыл бұрын
@Milan Marten Yea, on a car. There is a thing called a tow breaks on the rudder peddles which you push to slow the aircraft but the peddles have NOTHING to do with the throttle. Have you ever flown an airplane? (dont take that last part the wrong way, its a genuine question)
