OBSCURIST TOURIST 116 - Just south of the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas and all of its neon glory and busy walkwalks sits a forgotten part of Fremont - East Fremont. Once home to a bevy of motels from the 1940s and 1950s, this stretch of roadway has become derelict and somewhat dangerous. But I wanted to document some of the beauty of the signs that once shone bright here - myriad Googie goodness. Since everything seems to change so fast, I wanted to record what was there today but maybe be gone tomorrow.

I'm surprised that development hasn't caught up that part of Fremont. I used to stay at the youth hostel on 1322E Fremont, near that Siegel. It closed before Covid. The atmosphere was great, but the facilities were run down.

Thanks for the awesome video I really enjoyed watching you take a tour of my old neighborhood… so much history in the Fremont East district and those old signs are so awesome.

Very interesting video. It's a shame that they don't refurbished these motels. They should make that whole strip like you are going back in time. Each motel should have a theme. For example one would be set up like the 1950s, another 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, on so on. It would be neat if they did that.

Yeah, I would love that. I think they are trying to bring some back to life - but I imagine that most of them will be lost. Sadly.

Love those old Motels too bad they couldn't be fixed up , but sadly they will likely be torn down soon .. Back in the day those were the main places to for tourist to stay in Vegas as much wasn't on the strip at the time and the main hotels catered towards wealthy and the mob..

Golden goose was a strip club on the freemont experience end of Fremont. The fire hydrant is in front if the dog park. 😂

Interesting. Would love to know what’ll happen. Can’t imagine more motels would be the answer since they weren’t Abe to sustain themselves the first time around. Curious, though
