I really like your videos. As a 60 yr. old I get a kick out of you and your friends trying to figure out things that were a normal part of my life. Those figurines are mostly Avon which some can be worth a pretty penny now. They would've been filled with perfume or bubble bath. I can only guess that something happened to their kids, fell ill or couldn't afford to travel or any number of possibilities. It's sad to see a families momento to just rot away as the house swallows them up. Those pictures on the film were not negatives as your friend described. They were slides. They were put into projectors and showed up on a mini movie screen that rolled up and fit in a closet.

Lori, I miss the 70's too! My teen years. I think slides were just very popular at the time. You could have family and friends over and show your vacation photos on the big screen. My dad and uncles all enjoyed photography. I miss those days and the thrill of getting your pictures back from the store!!

So the ‘Great War’ was WWII. That medal should be in a military museum. Each medal has an identifiable number for the recipient. They can contact the family. The bowling trophy is not real gold. Bowling leagues/teams were popular ages ago. The vacuum cleaners are made by Kirby company. They were sold door-to-door by salesmen and were very expensive at the time. The ‘cowboy’ ceiling light cover would indicate a little boys room. The ‘jewelry’ usually has a ‘marking/stamp’ on pin-or back. That will tell you who makes it. The jars in the basement are jarred/canned veggies, fruit, black olives, peppers, tomatoes. Italians always jarred/canned food/preservatives. The canning process is intense work. The item u thought was a bullet that was removable-is a pen holder, popular item years ago. Many of the figurines have perfume in the bottom and were popular items by AVON years ago. The certificate on the wall which u thought ‘they met the pope’ is incorrect. When Italians got married, or celebrated marriage, family members would write to the pope, asking for his blessing. The pope would then send out a certificate. The squares with pictures-are called negative slides. The slides were them put into a light projector and views on a white screen/wall. The safe is not a firearm safe. They are completely different. TY 4 UR vid.

Just another thought: have y'all ever mentioned what you've found in these locations to your county or state historical society? Those organizations are always on the looking for historically significant stuff, and, since they're state government agencies, might have the power to be able to go in to some of these places and rescue items and records of historical significance betfore they're destroyed by the elements. Just something to consider.

Dudes I absolutely love what you do, and have IMMENSE respect for the passion, and especially the *ethic* you bring to this activity. You have so much respect for the places you visit, so much genuine interest, so much regard for the memory and history in these locations,. I honestly believe your videos will ultimately be incredibly valuable not just as entertainment, but as resources for historians (if you haven't thought about donating these to your state historical society, please do!). Which is why I keep recommending so strongly that you find someone to bring along on your missions who can act as a sort of "cultural historian" for the team. Someone who can identify objects, and can bring some historical memory and context to your shoots. If you're ever filming anywhere near the midwest U.S., I would gladly volunteer. Thanks again for your wonderful work.

Well damn Steve now I feel older than the hills. Everyone of the record albums you picked up I have either had or my parents had! The console TV you liked is a 1960s Magnavox Cherry Wood Console TV, one of the first color TV's Magnavox came out with. The radio you were admiring is a reproduction of a 1940s Magnavox tube table top radio. At first I thought it was the real thing, until I noticed that there were buttons beside the half moon tuning dial, this radio plays AM and FM stations, CD's, can tune in weather, although I could not see the half moon dial, it does have Barometric Pressure features. This video was fantastic!

Better to divide it amongst everyone fairly than to fight over it. I was the only one that took care of my mother when she got ill. When she passed she made it very clear that no one gets anything except the one that helped her in her dire needs. I didn’t want anything I just wanted her to be comfortable. But dam 24/7 is very very hard to care for someone. Luckily and I was surprised she left me everything. ❤️

Awesome 👏 Video! Great 👍🏼 finds ! All the Perfumes are from Avon . I’ve remembered when my mom used to buy them . I really love ❤️ all the Religious Pictures. I’m Catholic, that’s why I think 💭 are Beautiful 😍. I’m so glad that you don’t tell people your locations. Some people don’t have respect. Thanks 😊 for sharing. Be safe and have a Wonderful Week! ✌🏼😊✌🏼

I know you have strong morals and are definitely doing the right thing by leaving things in place so that it would preserve however if the house is going to collapse and completely fall apart and it’s only going to go to waste I think it is actually proper to take certain items

So sad to see all there memories left behind. It was very sweet that the owners got to see the pope for there 50 anniversary. Sometimes it is hard to go through your grandparents and patients things, it is very emotional. I been in my grandparents home for 7 years and still can't part way some of the things they have. A little at a time I guess. But I loved the video, remember steve safe first.

It’s sad how people can leave such beautiful places like this abandoned, but the saddest thing is people like you guys take stuff that was left in the place. Just because you say you don’t take stuff doesn’t mean you don’t take stuff once the cameras are off

Your group should consider contacting the mayor and cities Historical Society. The Metals, old letters, televisions, radios, slides, photos, Pope memorabilia and some other memorabilia should be saved while it still can be. Assuming no one is paying the property tax, the city should carefully remove these valuable pieces of history before the house does. To doubters, the contents of that house are very valuable and should be removed immediately!!! I doubt they will last another Buffalo winter.

Japan is the safest country in the world - that family has not moved, they have returned to their country like most Americans who work here for some time ... of course they have left everything they do not need in America. Japan has all their well-registered inhabitants, even foreigners, the same Japanese when they open a house or move, they leave everything they discard. Steve is Japanese born in the USA, so he does not know
