Some notes on Grace: She is in fact lactose intolerant which is why she is dairy free. She also drinks hot water simply because she likes it. It’s her favorite beverage. She HATES coffee. She also had multiple followers tell her she eats A LOT of sugar every day which she didn’t seem to even realize and she made a video cutting out sugar for a day which was hilarious to watch. She is a treasure. I hope this video gets her more followers. She deserves it.

When I was recovering from anorexia and at some point got to decide what to eat, my dietician would give me feedback about my food choices at the end of every week. I once got the feedback “you should eat more iron and vitamine A” (and told me which foods I could include of course). I was so confused about my diet lacking those two things because I felt I ate a lot more healthily than average person. My dietician’s response: “the average person doesn’t have a healthy diet”.

@@alexandrasarafoglou4452 Strongly disagree. She eats fast food in a lot of videos because that's often the theme for the video - I don't think there's any evidence on her channel she eats a lot of fast food generally, in her unfilmed diet. Also I was never allowed to scoff an entire bag of sweets as a child but I'm not going to pretend I haven't done that once or twice as an adult too. And, no child I know willingly eats olives! She doesn't have a perfect diet, but most people don't.

Grace is my absolute favorite. She is a breath of fresh air and truly has the best attitude. She's funny and real and if anyone says anything bad about her I will fight them in a macys parking lot. Also she drinks hot water because she doesn't like coffee, and isn't huge on tea. Caffeine and Grace do not get along. She is also very lactose intolerant and that is why she's dairy free, she's talked about his on her channel often and all her baking is dairy free as well. Great source for vegan recipes.

I also want to point out that usually when Grace labels something a “mukbang” it’s less of a typical high volume/high calorie sort of thing and more of a trying a smaller amount of several different types/flavors/brands of a food. She isn’t really someone who (at least not in her videos) eats massive amounts of food in one go.

Very interesting. Remember though we have way less added sugar and salt in our food in the U.K. Even with like for like products such as Heinz tomato ketchup, Doritos and even McDonalds fries. There has been an active ongoing process for the past 10 years or so to reduce salt and sugar in food. Pretty much everything has ‘new improved recipe’, ‘now with less salt’, ‘reduced Sugar’, ‘reduces salt’ , ‘30% less sugar/salt’ etc labels on them. It’s been great in a way as the changes have happened slowly and as a nation we have adjusted. The salty, sugary breakfast cereals of my childhood taste nothing like they did back then. Things like chocolate bars and cans of fizzy drinks are way smaller over here too.

My ED got really bad over quarantine... it actually made me realize I have an ED. We went to the doctor’s office and I was told I was underweight, but not severely. I looked pale and I had no energy at all. I was also told I either start eating more or I’m sent to a psychiatric unit. Now I’m in my bed at 12 am eating crackers and hummus because I’m hungry. I’ve gained 5 pounds in the last 3 weeks-a month! (: I know it probably doesn’t sound like much, but I’ve been working so hard to tell my ED no and allowing myself to enjoy food. If there’s anyone out there struggling, I promise you that you CAN make the choice to recover. It’s not always easy, it’s a lot of the time difficult but it’s so worth it. I believe in you! This is a great vide Abbey, I've been watching Grace's videos for a while and think she's great. What I love about her (and you've sort of mentioned in this video) is that she represents what I think the majority of people / the average person eats - it's definitely not perfect and your suggestions were super helpful, but what's so important about Grace is that overall her diet is balanced and she's meeting her basic needs in a way that most people can relate to. And she has fun with food, trying out different things etc. I also am pretty sure Grace doesn't make these "what I eat in a day" videos with any intention of teaching us about food/diet, I've never heard her say anything on the line of "this is good for you because..." which is nice. Even her drinking hot water, I'm pretty sure that's not done with any intention but just what she's grown up to drink?
@ivacukic

Yes, I think it's really helpful to see Abbey's comments on a normal diet so we can learn how we can tweak it to improve it. If in a video I see absolutely nothing I normally eat and just green juice and tropical superfoods, well, I'm realistically not going to switch my diet to that, ever. Ok, I'll order the superfoods and use them twice and then they'll go out of date in the pantry, that's realistically what happens. So it's super informative to see small things a normal person can very realistically do to actually improve their diets. Much more helpful than those crazy I eat 14kg of papaya monomeal crap.

As a student dietitian in Australia I love seeing Grackle's intuitive approach to eating! I actually found this video from the comments section of Grace's latest video about eating to the British Food guidelines (which was also great to see the different meal plan recommendations compared to Australia's typical foods). I had been an avid follower of Grace before this however and totally agreed that her intuitive approach and enjoyment of eating is so so soooo refreshing! Especially considering she was previously a model. So glad you reviewed her Abbey, Grace deserves to hear this great feedback and also to gain more followers. I love how you commended her for her intuitive approach even though it is slightly higher in discretionary choices. She isn't restrictive and she is just living her life! At the end of the day happiness is what counts!

I understand your point and some people might actually eat like this, but as I compare this to my friends and family, not a single one really eats like this, even though nobody is an influencer. Oatmeal, eggs, smoothies etc is far more normal in my perspective.

@@user-ur1iy6ch5j I was thinking more that most of these are people loading up on detox tea, protein powders, a perfectly made acai bowls. Most people eat easily found foods not expensive exotic food. My daily breakfast is generally oatmeal with banana a d walnuts but i don't add hemp hearts and protein powder. I am sure those things are super healthy but I also doubt they fit in my normal grocery budget.

@@Sterling8953 exactly, most "normal" people have to cook with what they have, rather than fussy, separately packaged little health snacks. I don't eat similar foods to Grackle because I like different things, but the way she approaches meals is more of the scavenging style I'm accustomed to lol

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at 29:26 Grace says: "I'm due on..." I think she might be referring to getting her period, which can make you crave chocolate. That would explain the amount of chocolate she ate, which she admits was a lot. Those pretzels sound delicious though.
