If the parents read these comments: There aren’t words to describe the agony you must be experiencing. Adding to this was the unbelievably light sentence handed down by the judge. The wealthy never seem to pay their dues in cases like this, and the judge’s decision should be challenged if this is possible. Though suing in civil court for wrongful death could never compensate for your loss, perhaps this is the only punishment the overly privileged, narcissistic perpetrators can understand? A lot of y’all who are coming down on the judge need to actually google CA’s penal code on felony hit-and-runs. Considering that the sentence for this crime, when resulting in serious permanent injury or death, is 4-6 yrs and a fine up to $10k, the fact that Grossman got “15 to life” is pretty substantial, even if she is released after serving 9. I DON’T agree with the penalty as stated in CA law because it should be much stiffer, but in this case the defendant WAS given much more time than is required. Like the family in Texas did for their killed loved one, Ms. Iskander needs to get the law changed to increase penalties for hit-and-runs. The judge’s job is to act within the law’s rules when handing out sentences, not create them out of whole cloth. Blame the legislators, if you need to assign it, but leave the judge out of it. He handed out a sentence that’s actually longer than the norm for this crime in that state.

The family and schools do not seem to educate children on humility, taking responsibility for one's action, being truly apologetic and contrite. It is NOT an apology if one says: - if I hurt you I apologise - if you think I wronged you then I apologise - if it will make you feel better I aplogise - I am sorry for your loss - I am sorry you are grieving - I am sorry you feel this way What about apologising for the crime? The dastardly act? The harm done ? She killed two boys and paid with 15 years only for one life. Who is paying for the other? Was his life less important than the killer's??? Did Ms. Grossman deliberately kill these children? No. But she was in her late 50s. She knew better - or should have known better - than to race along a residential street, perhaps under the influence, and hit someone and run. She appeared to do everything possible to dodge responsibility as well as a jail sentence. And, no one owes you forgiveness. I suggest Ms. Grossman read The Sunflower, by Simon Wiesenthal. It deals with the limits of forgiveness. Perhaps then she'll get it, but I doubt it.

Google Marco Muzzo, drunk driving, Ontario (Canada). We had a case here in Canada where the scion of a billionaire family destroyed another family. In 2015, while driving drunk, he killed three small children and their grandfather. The distraught father of the children took his own life in 2022. Canadian prison sentences are not as severe as in the US, so Ms. Grossman is serving a comparatively stiffer sentence. But it is maddening that such thoughtless creatures exist among us. All I can do is cite the following: “Justice? You get justice in the next world; in this world you have the law.” ― William Gaddis, A Frolic of His Own

Rebecca Grossman doesn’t have the capacity to offer a genuine apology to anyone, her pain, and regret all goes to her own plight. To even entertain the idea that those children had no business crossing the crosswalk late, in the evening is appalling. This is a vile woman, who married well. That’s all she’s done, in that pitiful, miserable life of hers. A contrast to Momma Iskander, what a loving and beautiful person she is, these boys could not have picked a greater woman to have love them. Rebecca’s kids?!, No.

It's very, very hard for the boys' mother - but also for Rebecca's mum.... I cannot imagine her grief and profound disappointment. Many people are criticizing the judge too... for what? 15 years to LIFE!!! For those who live outside, in freeom, those years will seem very few. Being in prison is no joke!!! You are surrounded by people who've committed all kinds of violent crime. We can only hope that Rebecca will sincerely repent...

The sentencing is A COMPLETE DISGRACE. 15yrs to life for EACH one of those beautiful souls. ❤❤ How many children does that judge have and does he think that his children would only be worth ONE SENTENCE FOR TWO OF HIS CHILDRENS LIVES???

Running some program to "treat" children with the same type of drugs that caused this woman to take the lives of your sons & then feel no remorse is NOT doing something your children watching you will be proud of! PREVENTING SUCH A THING FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN BY BANNING SUCH DRUGS WOULD BE SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE research the substances this woman had in her system that skewed her judgement & thus prevented her from making a choice that caused the tragic loss of your precious sons!

Ok. The sentence seems light, but think about it. She has no criminal history. So if she got the harshest sentence, they could challenge that and she could get out. 15 years to life is a terrible thing. And it's very possible she may never get out. I'm not saying it's good, it doesn't feel fair. The apology was gross.

I'm surprised people are even bringing up the fact she did not apologize. Why would she? This is a woman who has never apologized in her life. She is out for #1.... Herself. I'm also certain it is by the advice of her legal team that doing so would be self incriminating and ruin any opportunity for an appeal. This was just a sad story of idiocy ruining multiple lives.
