HOW TO MAKE A Christmas TWISTED POLE TABLE RUNNER

Today I show you how to make a Twisted Pole Table Runner, also known as Ribbon Dance and Ribbon Pole. It stems from the traditional MayPole dance celebrations in England, for May Day.
You need
1 ½ fat quarter ribbon
1 fat quarter pole
1 fat quarter scenery
Cut out 5’ squares to make a 3x12 square pattern 12“ x 48” finished pattern block add a border
I use 1 fat quarter cut into 2 ½ “ strips for the border and another one for the binding
This took about 3 hours to make plus time to free morion embroider the actual quilting part

I found for many years, social media is great at telling me how awful I am at sewing and only perfect sewing was allowed to be shown. Actually, as a teacher of many hundreds of people, it's never going to be Instagood unless you take a lot of time, and we only get snippets. It's awful for so many isnt it? I'm satisfied with an 80/20 win! and we should accept that. We use domestic machines, and we don't sew 12 hours a day, 5 days a week for a living wage. It's a hobby, we aren't going to be perfect, so let's just enjoy it :-)

Well Abi and Jasmine missed live feed again which was great fun. In this runner there is 18 yellow squares used 12 with green and 6 with blue. Really impressed by the tutorial and would love to see Jasmine make one as this will encourage younger sewers. We do like you Abi and think your great and love your tone, however I think we have maternal feelings for Jasmine watching her on her sewing journey. Hope fully tomorrow when I check the facebook, instagram and youtube pages several times I will get the right time. 🕑🕓🕖⌚⏰

Grab paper and a pencil. Pause the video between each step and draw out the method so you can take it in easier

Hi Abi. The answer for day 15 giveaway is you need 18 yellow squares for this runner design. I had no idea how easy this is, it looks so complicated when you look at the final product. I've never tried patchwork or quilting , but you have inspired me to have a go.

Hi, thanks for the video. This is the first video that I have viewed that shows out the drawing of the project. I like that very much. Although I am an experienced quilter this will be especially helpful to a new Quilter.

I have reviewed the machine. It was awful. Janome really messed that one up. I’d buy the cheap John Lewis jl119 se over that any day. Hope that helps

5” they will reduce down by half an inch if you use ¼ “ seam allowance. Make them as big or as little as you’d like
