Rob Appell demonstrates how to make a super cool version of the classic Ribbon Pole quilt using "Scribbles" Yardage by Andover Fabrics. This quilt is made with half square triangles, and Rob has a quick and easy way to make four perfect half-square triangles at once.

Man Sewing is powered by Missouri Star Quilt Co. We share free instructional video tutorials every week to inspire you to create something cool. Our projects range from quilting and sewing to all sorts of textile crafts. Although we have a male host and a masculine name like Mansewing, our quilts, art projects, and sewing machine tips are geared to everyone: men and women, kids and adults, and, of course, beginners and more advanced artists. Rob's patterns, t-shirts, tools, and notions (including the Shark Applicutter) can be found at missouriquiltco.com.

Well, I don't have a project story, but as I watched this I kept seeing a garden trellis.....I think I'm going to try it with floral prints on a white pole with a sky blue background. What do you think?

I'm new to guilting & I'm teaching myself to quilt. My first quilt I chose a jelly roll race so I could learn to sew a quarter inch consistently. It turned out my first quilt fits a cal king & I quilted it on my domestic with like an 8 inch throat. Never again!

I wanted to make my daughter a round table topper and saw the dresden star burst on msqc. I bought a wedge (it was my very first quilt attempt and the template looked like the one used in the tutorial). When I put the wedges together it took 40 pieces instead of 20. It turned out to be 36" in diameter. I was so upset but my daughter loved it! (I found the actual dresden template.)

Oh a project that grew: I had so much fun creating the Pathfinder quilt the Midnight quilt show did that I started up another quilt top using completely different material for a completely different look, and Then my daughter wanted to make something so we got her going on the same quilt block pattern now too, LOL - it's good though it helps to really seal in the technique. Thanks for this video I saved it for a future quilting project.

Once, while working on a quilt that was a diagonal set, I was arranging and rearranging my blocks ( I didn't have a design wall at the time so I would either work on the floor or walk back and forth between bedroom and sewing room). The quilt just kept growing as I was sewing rows & columns. I believe the pattern that was following said queen size - the quilt now hangs nicely down the sides and almost to the floor of my California king size bed!
