For people commenting about using an NES controller. I wanted to do that, but when we recorded the video, I couldn't find my NES USB controller adapter anywhere. I found it a few days ago though. Hopefully I'll remember next time we do something NES on PC - Mike

You guys realize that this game came out WAY before NES Remix, and around the same time as Super Mario Bros Crossover, but was THE mashup game. We know you PLAYED this game way late, but this game was the Epitome of the NES crossover.

This game and Super Mario Crossover were what defined my middle school years. When the teacher told us we could go in the computer lab when we finished our work, I spent the entire remainder of class playing either Mario Crossover or this, because I liked retro games and still do. (Thankfully the teacher didn’t come in and see how bloody and gruesome Abobos big adventure was)

Well done. 3 out of 4 wrestlers correctly guessed at the ending. the "Tribal guy" was the Ultimate Warrior. Great work for guys that don't seem to be huge wrestling fans.

I think you get bombarded and swamped with the references and cameos in the game so it's not so bad if you miss a fEVERY MAN’S HEART ONE DAY BEATS ITS FINAL BEAT, HIS LUNGS BREATHE THEIR FINAL BREATH AND IF WHAT THAT MAN DID IN HIS LIFE MAKES THE BLOOD PULSE THROUGH THE BODY OF OTHERS ANDMAKES THEM BELIEVE DEEPER IN SOMETHING LARGER THAN LIFE, THEN HIS ESSENCE, HIS SPIRIT WILL BE IMMORTALISED. :D Yeah, I'm an 80s kid and we got WWF here at the time...

I remembered when this came out. It was in dev on i-mockery for quite some time. THey had done some other cool NES tributes too. I-Mockery was such an awesome site to read in the early 2000's

There should've been another phase to the Amazon fight, where he powers up into a Transformer and becomes Amazon Prime :) I also liked the Starfighter reference in the Balloon Fight stage.

The Pro Wrestling inspired stage was beyond epic. And the rage special with the wrestling legends is one of the greatest things I've ever seen in a video game.

Love this game, it's the perfect homage to the NES. One problem I have with it though is that they didn't bother naming the creatures properly when they showed up on the bottom right of the screen when you hit them. Like at 17:23 the Zeb from Metroid 1 is called "Metro" because they're from Metroid or something. I guess it's a joke. I just think it's weird that they would go through drawing every enemy a cool portrait but not look up their real names!

I'm a PC gamer an not even I prefer Mouse+Keyboard for all games bro. It's great for shooters, and strategy games. But for beat em ups or old style NES stuff a gamepad would be just be easier most of the time. Especially for button mashy stuff like that water, and balloon level.

Eh, we'll have to agree to disagree. I think mouse and keyboard is definitely the best option when it comes to any shooting-centered games and isometric strategy games, specially in real time but anything else is way more comfortable to play with a controller imo. I don't think not knowing how to play porperly with kbm is indicative of anything. There's a lot of people who've grown in the PC gaming culture and have no idea of how not to empty a magazine in the wall behind the enemy that's shooting at them. Some people feel the need to expand on their gaming knowledge and get out of the area of comfort and others don't. I think it's okay anyway, regardless of your point of departure. Not everyone has the same tastes and there's nothing wrong with it.

At 2:09 we see that the Abobo is fighting a character called "Scut Farkus". Scut Farkus is the name of the bully in the film "A Christmas Story".
