Please please remember heavy items like the jackets can become a danger in the event of a crash imagine it hurtling down the van and hitting the driver. Please secure it safely so it can’t move about in the vehicle if you crash.

@@chox2001 this is a very good point. in the event of any car crash, the weight of the items can be multiplied on top of their original weight and turn into projectiles. This is exactly correct.

@@Alex123321Alex123 If you want to get something similar, there are some other brands that are just as good. If you type in "Nexpow" into Amazon, this unit is about 178wh/120w they only cost about $119, and are available through prime shipping. I havetwo of them and I also have 2-50 watt solar panels. it actually really was a lifesaver during the power outages in Texas during the winter storm that was completely unexpected. www.amazon.com/dp/B07SD4KMMN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

We have used the kzfaq.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Bought one earlier this year. Can’t wait to use it camping. Last July there was one outlet available at the campground for everyone to try and recharge. No worries this year. Also purchased the solar panels. Looking forward to camping out of my truck as well as camp ground use.

With the 1000w version you can run an induction hub. If you want to do this the best one for off grid is from Vango as it runs at a steady wattage and does not flicker on/off like a standard induction hub does.

I’ve got a 500 in my tiny beach hut with a 100w solar panel on the roof. It keeps the fridge on constant, charges my power tools batteries, speaker, phones/laptop/tablets, powers the lights, projector and can be used to inflate my SIB with the electric pump. As its an extremely portable unit, I can take it home if I need it elsewhere. I weighed up the costs and flexibility and decided a reconditioned Jackery 500 was the only real option for me at £320. Free power all year round ain’t a bad thing!

Yeah, you got a Jackery. I am using the same one, and even it was a bit expensive I am totally happy with it. Mostly I just use if for my laptop and phone. My lamps run with normal AAA batteries. I have a cooler but I only use ice for it to cool my food. I might upgrade that later but for now that is all I need.

Thank you for your excellent review! I have been hearing about Yeti Goal Zero and Jackery power systems since I bought my new Ford Transit Connect back in December, and watching videos and social posts about people using this car to go camping. Many of them are using the Jackery. I'm not planning to live inside my FTC, but I will be taking weekend camping trips in it, possibly up to 7-day trips. So being able to charge devices and run various 110vac appliances is indeed an attractive use-case for me. I like the functionality of the Jackery system that you reviewed in this video. It's also great that they are on sale now :) Thank You :)

Hey Will, those power banks / inverters are an absolute life saver in a SHTF situation. They have given you a fairly substantial solar array so even on a cloudy day you could potentially keep it charged up. Check instructions as to whether you can charge and use the device at the same time, some models vary. All the best with that one. Rog.

I have a Jackery Explorer 500 (US version), used to power a 12volt DC Compressor fridge/freezer (uses about 15% of my power every 8 hours), a micro rice cooker (uses a total of 50 watts to heat a cup of coffee, or 100 watts to cook a cup of rice), a CPAP machine (running on DC with no humidifier), and if I have enough power, a low 43-watt electric heating blanket. My portable 120-watt aftermarket solar panel fits in my windshield to be able to recharge the Jackery without having to get out of the car to set it up in the morning once the sun rises, as I am a late sleeper. (Also protects both the solar panel and the Jackery from rain and theft.) The panel goes against the glass in front of the Reflectix, and both are held in place at just the right angle by the sun visors. During the daytime, the battery is used to recharge battery-powered items that I may have used at night (depending on summer or winter), such as my two sets of LED lights (which run from 5000mah battery packs), my two 10,000mah portable hand warmers, and my two 10,000mah portable fans for air circulation. The Jackery is also recharged from the car while driving in lieu of solar. Congrats on your new power station...you will not be disappointed having this fantastic tool in your van!

Bought a 500 last night because I/we can’t suffer another week long, weather induced, power cut in Scotland 😂. I moved to Aberdeenshire in 2010 to marry my Scottish husband and In 2021 after only experiencing minor power outages, when Storm Arwen hit us in Aberdeenshire we found ourselves going 9 DAYS without power and as we had two cats so a hotel room wasn’t an option for us. Thankfully we had the fireplace going 24/7 because cats can’t survive temperatures under 7 Celsius. So we have heat from the fireplace but the rest of the house was bitter cold so we lived in the living room with the door to the rest of the house closed.. The fireplace kept us warm but I was running my car for an hour or more to keep my phone charged in case I had to reach my husband or get help in general. Also 9 days with no distractions, or lighting , no laptop, no iPad , no music and spending a fortune on torch batteries. And still trying to avoid covid and get a hot meal. I thought never again! Until… In January 2022 my husband was offered a GP position in Shetland and now we’re up here. In December of last year after moving up to Shetland, told they never get snow etc, we lost power for OVER 10 days when snow collected on and snapped the power line near us. Oh are you joking? They had no estimate on repairs. Again, we had a fire for heat but this place that never sees snow? They do! I was furious to be stuck a second year in a row. Again I said never again but how? ? Talking to a friend who was really into watching “van living” videos on KZfaq and she said you should see if what they use would work… huh? So, I watched one day and noticed after a few different van life guys they were living off these power cubes. All powered up by these cubes of various types and sizes. I began to research like crazy. First, not nearly as expensive as a gas powered generator and second, didn’t NEED any flammable fuels. Just a wall plug to charge, or my car or by solar panels which in Shetland, in summer, is often a very long day of sunlight. It could sit IN the house, it was MUCH cheaper than a gas generator and for my tech hating husband, easy to use. But is it just a big phone charger, my husband joked and again I researched, asked questions and researched again! Jackery, as a brand, kept coming up, they had great reviews on the whole and the website gave me a 30% off my first purchase code, THIRTY PERCENT OFF? “Save”. The reality is, NO, it WONT power your house for endless hours and you can run a giant television and satellite dish on it BUT,it WILL definitely help in a power outage! The 500 CAN charge my small things like phones, iPads, laptops, a small lamp, a music source to calm our cats, etc…, As long as it was kept at the right power strength, it will power it even my broadband router, a small TV, AND said it was possible. Not ALL at the same time but just having use of my laptop to work on photo editing? Priceless! It even has safety features that prevent you from using items that it’s not able to accommodate. So yes, Husband it is more than a big phone charger 😉 Yes I’d been hesitating on the actual purchase though and then yesterday, 18 October 2023, warnings for STORM BABET hit Scotland. NO!😳 Not ANOTHER ‘possible’ power outage?! No way!! SO, when my husband got home I spent an hour or two talking about this little life (sanity) saver. I was dead serious. As a GP, at work they’re always going to be powered up as a medical practice. His work is a ten minute drive at most so if I wanted to charge it a bit faster I could, during an extended power outage of multiple days, drive to his work and recharge both as I drive and then in the practice. He could take it to work and charge it up for the evening as well. And he REALLY LIKED that I had that 30% off code. We agreed on buying it! He wanted five minutes to read reviews so he went to a known online retailer 😉… and suddenly my husband said, if we get from unnamed“large online retailer” it’s 40% OFF! Even BETTER!. Suddenly something I never expected to need or buy is making me happier than a new pair of high heels and I’m not even joking! And it’s 40% off? And Storm BABET is coming? And, and, and…. my computer screen suddenly says, “Thank you for your order number xxxxxx…..”🎉 I AM GIDDY! 🤪I will no longer fear power outages. I will use my computer and charge it too, I might even power a little lamp to read by so my husband doesn’t knock a lit candle and its melted wax onto my favourite decorative cushion on the couch, I WILL EVEN CONSIDER BUYING A CARRYING CASE 🎒… and maybe use my unused 30% off discount code to go wild and but the smaller one for the kitchen or home office🤔! I’m just honestly really excited which shows my age, Generation X, once into rock concerts, now obsessed with emergency power supplies to make the increasing frequency of Scottish power outages more tolerable 😃 And, one day, I shall take it camping ⛺️ 🔌 perhaps? I’m a bit of a gadget loving Californian who married a technology and gadget hating analog type Scottish doctor 13 years ago, it’s been an amazing place to live, the Scottish countryside. But since Storm Arwen 💨 hit Aberdeenshire in 2021, I can’t go without a little help in the dark, lol. Again, we are fortunate to have a fireplace for heat but it’ll be nice to, if I want, use my laptop to work on photography editing even in a wild, wind fueled, power outage! (The good luck was that I’d had the 500 in my “basket” for a while and just as Storm BABET started picking up in her power outside and about 20 minutes before the discount expired, I paid 40% less for a giant phone charger 🤣 I’m excited for its arrival.. 🤗🤩🪩💃🕺

The Jackery will actually charge ok via the solar panels during winter, even on grey days, but especially of course on sunny or partially sunny winter days. Other solar power stations such as the Goal Zero Yeti or PowerOak, and the much cheaper Beuden, Allpower and Zenes models will also do a similar job and also charge via solar. I tend to prefer to charge my Gobat 12000 batteries via solar, which charge faster than the bigger battery stations. I also carry an extra normal 12v car battery and 12v boat battery in the car, and these easily charge phones, laptop, tablet, cameras and external flash batteries etc. Often I can be away from socket power for weeks or months, so every bit of portable power is vital, and now avoid using the car's own internal battery and running engine to charge anything...because it only shortens the life of your car battery, but also avoids being stranded in remote locations with a dead motor. 🙂

@Globetrotter-1
@Globetrotter-1 Жыл бұрын
@@wolfiesmith70 I'm not sure about the Jackery, it all depends on the power of the wind and how good the conversion to generator is. I actually prefer the EcoFlow River and Delta units. The Jackery is a bit dated now and the Ecoflow is many times faster in charging to full power in only 1-hr from the wall socket. My Ecoflow River charges very fast from the solar panels or from my car 🚗 10v cigarette socket while driving. Fast charging is extremely beneficial for me due to spending most of the year in wild locations. The Jackery units just can't match the performance of the EcoFlow.

Hi Will. Great vid, love your "new baby". I'm think of getting one myself. I plan on having a unique use for it. I already have a 100w solar panel on a south facing roof, my plan involves doing away with my inverter & charge controller & installing the Jackery 500. This will run a small tv, a stereo, room lights & garden lights - but NOT all at the same time.- one at a time. Is this doable & is my existing solar panel compatible? Apart from possible power cuts, I plan on having the panel connected permanently to the Jackery.

It’s an awesome piece of kit for we astrophotographers. We need to power computer driven tracking mounts, phones and laptops, dew heaters and telescope control boxes. This delivers. Don’t know why Jackery don’t include this use in their advertising material. Astro imaging is now HUGE.

Great review,i want to buy this,i have a question if its possible to answer my friend as i am not an expert on electricity....i have a solar panek of maximum power 250Wp voltage at Pmax 51,2v and current at Pmax 4,88A maximum system voltage 1000v.....is this suitable for charging the jackery without harming it?i mean with the typical mc4 cnnection to dc would work right?thank again
