Hello Tyler, A retiree like me grew up with this scrap in the 1950's. The toothed plated is an internal combustion engine flywheel designed to smooth out engine rotation. The lamp thing is a differential gear designed to apply torque to both rear pickup truck drive wheels. Many cast iron decorative pieces date from the 1900's when cast iron was used as plastic. Thanks for cleaning up the upper midwest waterways.

The first heavy piece is a flywheel, the other piece @12:10 is a carrier for a rear differential. Both auto or truck related.

@@TheFisher keep a big bag of cheap non-clumping cat litter in your truck. Put some in front of each tire, right up against it, so you get some traction. Or they do have traction mats or boards but you have to stop and go back for them. The cat litter you just leave behind and keep moving.

Hey. I know you're new to boating, so there's things that probably don't come to mind. First and foremost a life jacket. You saying you were the only one out there kinda sent up red flag 🚩for me. I care about you and your safety came to mind. Neat finds BTW! Another tip: get a rubber mat for the side of that boat or even some old carpeting or astroturf. You pulling up metal could spike your boat. Just being cautious. Thanks for another great video. 😊

Is anyone else more entertained by the commentary than the actual finds? I love the upbeat, easy going attitude with which he announces every haul. I think it would be hard to stay in a bad mood while hanging around him...at least while he's magnet fishing.

The gear you pulled up time 11:50 is a car part called a 3rd member. Its what makes your wheels spin from the transmission.

That big gear is a flywheel and the ether one is a pinion for a rear diff.

'Gear' is a fleywheel for a car or truck engine, second gear is out of rear differential of car or truck, wheel is a wheel off of one of those little "mules" that workers use on the railroad tracks.

Concerning the gears, the first big one is a flywheel of a car or truck engine. The teeth are what the starter motor engages to turn the motor to start it. The second one is called a differential carrier, center part of the rear axle assembly of a vehicle. It was loaded with smaller gears and the axles to the wheels install in there to turn the wheels.

One of the first things you found with a hole in it is used to join two chains. You would hammer the end into the hole. The big round piece with teeth is a flywheel to a car engine. It mounts to the engine and the clutch mounts to the flyweel. The odd thing you said looks like a lantern looks lie a differential, the gears that are in the back end assembly for the wheels of a vehicle.

the first "gear" was an engine flywheel for a car with a manual transmission. the 2nd "gear" is the ring gear and inner differential housing out of a rearend of a car/truck

Hi, I can’t wait to see your video on restoring that ax! Just like you I keep wondering where all the anchors are coming from? I would like to suggest that you might like to make some kind of cover to put over that battery before something bad happens, like getting to much water dumped on it, or a piece of metal falling over the terminals. Don't overlook that hunk of railroad track while you're enjoying those anchors! That's some great steel there, and blacksmiths, knife makes, and others love that stuff! Can make anvils and many other useful items from it. If you're going to advertise those anchors for sale once you clean them up, list that track as well. Worth a LOT more than it's weight in scrap.

Item found at 12:57 looks like cluch disks in the "basket". Side shown at 13:22 has bumps that looks like the springs that go with the clutch disks! ?? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️👍🏻❤

It's called a cold shut. used to connect two chain links together. You heat it up and stick the round end into the hole and tack weld it once it's through the hole.
