The only thing that could be as American as that is selling assault rifles to as many idiots as possible so that we have as many shootings as possible, only so the gun lobby can continue to be profitable. Anyone notice a pattern? Money dictates everything here. Morals and human rights come second to increasing profit margins in America, and you can take THAT to the bank. This was my first time ever watching the Superbowl. I'm from Europe and the trophy ceremony also weirded me out. Giving it to the owner of the team is so damn odd lol You have incredible athletes who worked hard for it. A coach who worked hard for it. And you give it to an owner who was just having his employees run the team for him. It's also wild to me how many commercials there are and how much the game stops, but thats another story lol
@brazyiee9145
@brazyiee9145 Жыл бұрын
I hope you enjoyed it it was a pretty good game. The game does tend to start and stop a lot and that’s because the game is mainly meant to be for American audiences where commercials play a huge part in American culture for some reason, trust me we don’t like it either. The reason for giving the trophy to the owner (at the time) is because owners in the nfl play more of a part than in other sports because it’s mainly them building the team. After the ceremony it’s the actual players (mainly the mvp) that gets it. It’s a great sport once you start to get the feel of it and I hope it didn’t discourage it too much being your first experience.
@DanielSmith-kq8wg
@DanielSmith-kq8wg Жыл бұрын
@@brazyiee9145 I would disagree that the NFL owners play more of a part in building the team. I don't think they necessarily have a bigger role in the team than owners of Champions League winners in soccer, or Stanley Cup champions in hockey. They might be higher profile within their sport (and that's debatable), but that's it. The whole thing just really sucks the air out of the occasion. It should have been Patrick Mahomes lifting the trophy with his teammates surrounding him rather than an old man in a suit in a really muted emotionless hand-off.

@@danielmiller7346 plays are short and the clock keeps running. But man they are sprinting hitting juking blocking physical contact constantly. See how gassed a defense looks after a long possession? And that's WITH rotating players in. These guys are freakishly in shape, too. I've thought about different ways to go about that so that the ball is actually in play for longer, something about stopping the clock after every down? I don't know. The game is already 3hrs long is. Can't really do shorter play clocks either, with having to communicate the play, substitute players, get set, and then the refs too set the ball and the clock doesn't stop for that either. So, idk.

If you compare American football owners to for example Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who bought the Welsh football team Wrexham AFC. Worlds apart. The club belonged to the fans and they had to ask them, if they could invest. Later Ryan Reynolds send crates of gin to their bar beside the stadium and the members could get a bottle as gift. They are both interested in the area, made a documentary about it, talk to people and bring attention to the city. Many celebrities visit, for example Will Ferrell visited last week. Their investment and interest helped the whole area. Rob even started to learn Welsh.

5:33 Fun fact: the UK team, Manchester United, who at the time had pretty much 0 debt and were ticking along nicely was once "bought" by couple of (imo, disclamer, disclamer) con artists who did not have the money and used **A LOAN THEY TOOK OUT AGAINST THE TEAM THEY HAD JUST 'BOUGHT' ** to pay for the team. So you DEFinitely don't need to be rich to buy a team. And, yes the team was then lumbered with the cost of paying off this new massive debt.

But why? That should be the con men's debt. How does it get transferred to the team itself? Normally, an owner would be forced to sell the team and that money used to pay off the debt. Transferring it to the team sounds like the bigger scam.
