Just a note in Ireland. Halloween is a big deal, more commercialised cause of America but celebrated since pagan times. Trick N treat is very American, but we used to go souling as kids in our cardboard homemade masks and black plastic bags 😂 it was more about the bonfire and party

We always celebrated Halloween pretty big in Scotland. What we did wasn't called trick or treating though, it was called guising or galloshians... and we had to perform a little song, dance, skit, whatever on the doorstep in return for treats.. This was at least true for my generation and my parents'.

We did Scally Nights when I was a kid!! Didn't CALL it that, but we'd go around the night before Halloween and do things like soap car windows and throw dried corn on metal awnings as we ran by in a gang. Great fun. No real harm done either.
