You nailed it, it was a diss track to the industry specifically supporting the "Bro Country" artists who don't treat the women in their songs with respect, and especially in the videos. Don't know if they got much flack behind the scenes but the girls who listened to country, and some how didn't, loved it.

I love Maddie & Tae! They have so many good songs. After the storm blows through - I dedicated this song to my mom as she was battling cancer. Die from a broken heart is another good one.

Despite the well earned jabs, overall they got a lot of attention, and even support from some of the guys they poked at in their lyrics, because they were right and they are talented and awesome singer/song writers. Although they were interviewed recently and were asked if they knew now what they did then would they have recorded it. They said they might have been more afraid to do it, but they were young, idealistic, and too naive to know better back then. 🤣 Still, it’s a great song and it launched their careers stirring the water.

You know, women today want to be independent and handle their own. But they still want to be treated like a lady. Conway and George strait spoke about women in their songs but kept the respect. Songs like country girl shake it for me, is disrespectful. Their is a line and too many men in all genres are crossing it.

Here's a new group to give a listen, if interested. "Blackberry Smoke -White Lightening" (by the channel: ted strother) --This song is actually a cover of a song that was written and recorded by George Jones. But B.Smoke did a pretty good rendition. And here's a live performance of George Jones & Johnny Cash singing the song together not to compare, but rather just so as to hear the difference between two performances, if interested. (IMO)peace out~

I put all this on of the heads of record labels. Country music does not need to emulate other genres nor bring in artists from other genres. They are -getting- have gotten too greedy. Be careful boys, you're going to spoil your "moneymaker". Let country be country.

The song hit it right with the country songs discribing country girls. But then I see what the female singers wear on stage and in videos and they don't help the image.
