Abzu is a story about the civilization and the sea living in harmony. Advanced alien illuminate triangle appears, steals life energy from the humans, fish hidden away, and the center areas, and creates sentrys (the small drones) and weapons (the mines). You were used to seal away the entrances, block the shark out, but memory was wiped at some point, so you go about returning the energy and life to the animals. You open the doors, shark goes through, and with your help you kill the evil triangle. Gg. The life energy it stole was used to create you and kill the humans of the civilization, the protag being based on the humans from the civilization you were able to assist the siphoning of the life energy from the ocean. When you replay the game, look at the walls carefully. They show the co-existence of the civilization and the sea creatures

Yay! Part 6! I'm pretty sure that the story here is about an ancient underwater civilization that lived harmoniously underwater with sea life, and an advanced robotic race that harvested energy from it. The blue brine stuff (the "soul" stuff that you give back to restore animals) seems like it's supposed to be some kind of life force that the robotic race harvested as power. The factory shows the mines and drones being injected with it, and the part you missed shows projections of you with the energy inside you too (super lame it closed the door on you.) There must be a continuous loop, there are paintings that depict the same exact shark (same scars and markings) as the great white you encounter in the game, and at the end during the credits the shark seems to be restored to life. The shark seems to know precisely where he's going, as if he's done this before. Also some of the sacred wells have ruins at the bottom of the pyramid harvester units - maybe the shark already destroyed them before? Also there's a painting somewhere that depicts all the animals you restore, the rays, orcas, whale sharks, giant squid, and finally the great white - as if this cycle has taken place before. There's a couple points where you can see conflict between the ancient harmonious race and the new robotic race, because the pyramid mines have blown holes in some of the temples, which makes me wonder if the ancient race was wiped out by the robotic race. The big city still seemed pretty pristine, which is probably why there were prehistoric animals still there, it was a sanctuary that hadn't been touched yet, which is why the shark probably sacrificed itself destroying the harvester that was near it. Interesting that they depict a member of your "race" at one point, not sure if it's actually the protagonist or another droid like you. I think there's some metaphors in here too - like when you first crawl out of the water with all the prehistoric creatures, it's like life crawling from the sea onto land for the first time. I also kind of wonder if this is a commentary on deep sea oil drilling or something.

This was probably one of the most beautiful games I've seen. I'd like to see them do some kind of space exploration game like this. Or possibly a more land based scenario with land animals. These guys rock!

The anomalocaris (pronounced ano-malo-cah-ris) is actually one of the first complex lifeforms to have developed in the early stages of life on earth. One of the first beings, if you will. It was also one of the largest at its time (about 1m long, which was considerably large for one of the first living animal creatures on the planet). Edit: Also, the Loch Ness Monster is suspected to be a plesiosaur, of which the Lieopleurodon and Elasmosaur were species. I think they were two of the largest plesiosaurs. Edit 2: the Dunkleosteus (pronounced dunk-leo-ste-us) was one of the largest predators of it's time. I think it just preceded the Megalodon, and was about 2m bigger. It had a very powerful bite and jaws made of not bone but hard, carapace-like plates that acted like teeth. I know these things because I studied extensively on them when I was 12. I had no reason to beyond my drive to learn, which was quashed by about half the following 2 years (which I am ashamed of).

All this ancient fish and creatures did exist at one point in time. However most of them are extinct unfortunately. Arapaima, Coelacanth, Alligator Gar, Nautilus, and that one creature with eyes on top of there head still exist to this very day.😊👍 I love the Alligator Gar and the Arapaima!💖💖 They are so cool!

Hey IGP, yes Great Whites can jump, it's called Breaching and nobody is quite sure why they do it.

There’s an animation where a crab continuously keeps a ship in a bottle safe while people make buildings on their back he eventually dies and a new crab picks up the bottled ship and they act like islands for people like how you said the shell of the turtle could be an island.

abzu is about how in real life the humans (the triangles) are barging in on the ecosystem and you have to help the fish by freeing them and destroying the invading humans and having harmony in the ecosystem

maybe the game that you've been playing for quite a while I think before the water took the float I think it was full of humans at one time and so what happened I think it got flooded because somebody busted some wall out and everything got flooded

Animals restored from old and new memories by "machines"? Robots and city abandoned by some long forgotten/lost civilization? Life fountains and life making sap? No "real" story, just a lot stuff left for interpretation for players... Strange and interesting game :)

well I think the creatures or robots like the main character were protectors of nature and with their power they controlled nature balance, but one of them wanted the power so he/she/it created pyramid like things and absorbed the life out of nature and animals, main in my opinion the main character was the last one left who could repair everything... that's my opinion of WHAT'S going in this game...😍😍 love you... and your videos!!!👍

Theory? Good, I like a theory. My theory for Abzû is fairly washed, I'd say the planet, or the region acts as a conservation area, where the AI and drones act as stewards (Much like how humans are described in the some religions.) In care of nature and the general ecosystem. Hence for all the portal-spawning creatures and the coral towers and positive outlook to the ocean. My idea also stretches to the AI character as well, that perhaps long ago there was an intelligent, advanced marine life form that we see on the walls in the ruins, that resemble the AI, the AI perhaps based off a long dead race to continue its work under the waves, that's why the fish tend to swarm around you, and allow you to go close up to them. I feel the triangular mechanics are a sort of security device implemented a long time before to protect the inhabitants of the ocean, but age, malfunctions or sabotage has caused an extreme setting of security to mines, and general attacking of the ecosystem.

The city is the lost city of Atlantis figureheads with sea creatures and stairs that are meant to be utilized above ground are under water the nautilus which is a name for Captain Nemo's Submarine which discovered the lost city of Atlantis.
