This fixed my a/c problem! Thank you. My car was only getting cool air when driving on the highway. I originally thought it was low on refrigerant and bought a recharge kit, hooked up the gauge, and found out the pressure was in the green. After about two hours of research I came across your video. I have a 2014 Ford Explorer, so I switch out #98 “Air conditioning clutch relay” with the #77 “Trailer tow park lamps relay” relay switch (same type).

What happens to the contacts from arcing over and over they get a jagged surface and not enough of the contact is touching to pass enough current. Also sometimes the surface is so pitted they get hooked and won't release.

So one thing I always do is swap out relays within that fuse box . For example the horn or ac blower fan in the dashboard relay will have the same oem part number as the for example radiator fans. I'll 1st verify the horn is working that tells me that rely is good then swap it out with the radiator fan relay and now see if the horn sounds . If it were the ac blower fan in the dash verify the blower is blowing out the vents then swap and see if the blower still comes on.

I have a 2017 challenger and the a day before the ac blew very cold air from all vents....the following day it just started blowing very warm air and I have it set to 60....and that's because I rarely even use the cold ac

Where are you located? I need someone to teach me where those relays are but I'm sure you're not in Melbourne Florida. They keep trying to tell me it's my AC fan if it could be an easy fix like this you rock! My ex was mechanic my ex before him and my father growing up why can't I get away from you guys LOL but that was one good thing about having him around them but they were all bad guys so I want to know how to get this fan going before I drive off because driving it blows out cold sitting it's blowing out hot if it's just the relay switch and out of $500 fan you're the man! But I still want to know how to get that fan moving before I drive off they did it at jiffy lube but I don't remember how I can't find it on KZfaq maybe you can help me out. Blessings. Pixie 😅

What fan are we talking about? Big radiator fan(s) or fan inside of car that you control from inside?

Great video on a simple fix for condenser fan cooling. My lexus 460 doesn't cool the vehicle at idle when started, one I start driving everything goes back to normal cooling. Any idea on the issue.

Got a Cadillac cts , when I drive throws cold air when I idle at red light for to long , it will throw hot air and gauge will go up high and I when I start driving again it goes back down . What’s the problem. ? Is it this ?!

Have you ever encountered this? 2014 Silverdo blows hot air when ac is on and motor cooling fans start blowing maximum. Turn off AC and cooling fans slow down.

@wrenchingwithkenny You could cut the cover off the failed relay and bench test it for demonstration purposes. It has a magnetic solenoid that pulls the contacts together. For this failure mode, the solenoid works but at least one of the contacts have failed. Relays can have multiple contact pairs. You can test this electricaly by using a DVM in resistance mode across the the matching contacts. It should go to 0 ohms when the switch actuates if it is working correctly. You can actuate on a bench by applying 12v and ground to the coil contacts.

Mine was just seviced it blows cold while driving until this clicking sound from the passenger side kick panel at that point the idle drops low & shuts off. If i turn the air off, i dont have this problem

Why is AC stop cooling at high speeds but works fine at low speeds?

Just replace a blower motor on my 2017 Ford Fusion. But now when i try putting it on MAX AC it doesnt feel like the air isnt blowing out as hard as before. Its gets cold still but it seems to blow slower now. Any ideas?

My fan turns on but A/C blows hot air at idle with normal cool setting but does cool on maximum cool setting at idle. When in motion, normal cooling works fine. Not a fan issue.

My cool ac works for a couple of minutes then turns off and a few minutes later turn back on and few minutes later the cool air will switch to heat what could it be?

2018 Toyota Corolla .. switch all relays to HORN relay to test them out. They all made the horn work. Is there something else that can cause AC to not work when not in movement? AC blows cold air when driving but anytime the car stops it stops blowing COLD air

That works for that issue, but... there is slight different issue I have. - I think it may be a bad ignition switch. 1999 oldsmobile intrigue gl abs light and traction control light remain on. the passive security light comes on and when it shuts off, the air conditioning fails and tachometer & fuel guages drop to zero Why I think it may be an ignition switch (that has either burned or corroded contacts) is that, while still in motion and that happened, instead of stopping, shutting off and restarting my vehicle... I simply turned the key over to the "ignition start" and released it and it all started working again. Mind you, the security light comes back on and both the ABS and Traction Control lights remain - Those are likely just an electrical wiring issue. - on, but it seems to fix that issue. However, just like shutting the engine off and restarting it, the memory for the Cruise Control does clear so it has to be reset. Does my diagnosis seem reasonable to you?

I had a passenger mess with the wires under glovebox replaced everything you talked about in the video when I mess with some of the wires under the dash it runs but shuts off I’m convinced it’s a short or the wires aren’t in all the way because of the passenger messing with the wires with their foot

It is not uncommon that a relay fuses it's contacts together or they become extremely pitted, in the old days we would take it apart and run a Burnishing blade between the contacts to clean & polish them up. But we now are in the throw away zone today.

And he charged the guy $250. 😆
