Awesome video Chris!! That was unbelievably exciting from start to finish! Donington is a tricky circuit in these cars I always find - not much room or many overtaking spots!

Really challenging to overtake, I lost count of the times I had to lift because there was no way through. Was a great pass the lad pulled on me at the bottom of the Craner Curves, but I just didn’t have the confidence to try the same!

I have been trying out the 720s Evo in some of the LFM 45min Spa races and i have to say driving standards seem to have vastly improved in a big way... looking forward to some more ACC from CRSR. Always good to have another car recommended Nij, cheers for that. I wanted to choose a different car to race this season too, but time kinda ran away with me so, for ease, I just hopped into the one I’d driven most recently. I will make a switch at some point though. Never thought I’d say it, but it was great to be back in ACC!

Thank you mate, ahh that’s good to hear. iRacing can really drain you of enthusiasm when you have a run of bad races - it certainly does for me, at least. You still get the occasional bad race in LFM too, particularly in rookies, but it’s worth persevering with. I find in LFM now that 1 in 4 races might be bad. Compared to iRacing, where it’s usually 3 in 4! Good luck, will look forward to hearing how you get on.

Great stuff mate great racing a tip I got off an alien at Donny and it works at most tracks with tight hairpins, is to have 2 buttons mapped on your wheel one for your desired TC and the other to take TC down to 2 or 1 if you feel comfortable with it, as you come out the chicane drop TC to 2 for the 2nd last corner and when you accelerate you will have much more drive I think this is why you kept getting smoked by the Macca,this really helps me on all tracks but must remember to switch it back for the rest of the lap
@chrisrogerssimracing
@chrisrogerssimracing Жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, yeah I was doing exactly that with the TC - but only a couple of notches. Was running TC8 for most of the lap, but only dropped it to 6 for the final couple of corners. I didn’t even try going any lower, which was an oversight… would have been easy just to try TC2 or something lower, during my practice or qualy run. TC6 really didn’t make that much of a difference!

@@petermartin5197 Haha no worries, at the height of the battle with the other guys, I was so pre-occupied with trying not to hit them, that I forgot to change my TC anyway on those laps! Currently I only have TC increase/decrease buttons set, so it’s quite time-consuming to cycle through them all the time. I like your tip much better - work out which two TCs I need before the race, and set the buttons to those instead. That way, it’s just one press each time. Will definitely be doing that next time 👍

It’s far more nimble than the old BMW I was using. Even though lap times are similar, it just ‘feels’ much faster. I struggled a little bit this week just with getting used to the ACC physics again. A couple of weeks running iRacing and RaceRoom, and it takes a while to get used to ACC again. But loved the race. A year ago, I’d never have imagined that ACC would become my first-choice sim!

Great race, Chris. I'm supposed to be working but your video popped up on my phone and I had to watch. Donnie's a really tough place to overtake. I wonder if Santos actually had the same issue I did last night ... not enough fuel and so was short-shifting and using higher gears on corners, causing him to misjudge his speed at the corner you ran into him. I was driving a perfect race and running 6th after starting 9th but then halfway through I realised I didn't have enough fuel and so I started making mistakes, wondering how best to drive - should I let the guy behind through so I could save fuel from his tow, etc. In the end, I ran out of fuel half way around the final lap. So he might have just let you through on the final lap rather than fight it.
@chrisrogerssimracing
@chrisrogerssimracing Жыл бұрын
That’s a very good shout actually, regarding Santo. Just looking at the results, he did finish just behind me in 13th, so he obviously wasn’t completely out of fuel, but quite possibly was doing his best to manage it and bring it home on fumes! Really good combo to start the season, this.
@daviddavies3637

@chrisrogerssimracing Just a note on the tyre wear. I'm usually really bad and my tyres typically last 15 minutes. After that disaster last week, I went back to the drawing board. In GT3, you're supposed to apply around 70% to 80% brake pressure. But I was planting my foot on the brake at every turn. I soon realised that 70% braking doesn't really affect your braking point. If anything, it actually improves your ability to brake at low speed corners, which has caused me a few issues where I've almost come to a standstill. Your ABS was only set to 4, which probably means that you were locking up your tyres more as well. Last night I had no problem with grip because of the changes I made. I've increased ABS to 7, just in case i slam on the brakes, and TC at 9 to reduce slides. I reduce it for the last two corners as well. With those settings, I was probably about 2 tenths off your pace. That, for me, is impressive ... prior to a practice session I had on Sunday, my fastest was a 1.33. It's now a 1.28.

Very good point. The same thought crossed my mind last week in the F4 races on iRacing. iRacing is usually pretty strict on hamburger flags for the slightest damage, but it lets you continue driving without a rear wing. Drivers staying out on track with no rear wing caused a lot of accidents. If I do stay out in a damaged car, I’ll almost never defend or try to battle. Just not worth the risk!
