I really love your railroad. I have been digesting every article you have ever written and trying to incorporate some of your techniques into my own design. I am torn, I love the back woods logging, but I also want to run long D&NG trains as well. Do you have any grades on your line? I am going to try to max at 2%. Maybe if I have a logging branch I will go steeper for my Shay.

Thanks. I appreciate the comments. You could do one line that does the long stuff and incorporate a smaller backwoods line inside the main line.

Shay looks good, have you had any problems with it out of the box?

Thanks. No issues at all. I got it lite fast once I figured out gas valve adjustment and adjusted air collar. Tem outside was low 40f.
