Is it necessary to update the bios coz i feel like it's more on a riskier side ..... and i have read that we must update the 1.0.2 version first and then install the 1.0.3 !!!!

No you can just update to whichever the newest BIOS version is 1.09? I think it is now. It's not necessary but I would recommend it as it addresses several hardware and software fixes.

Since the creation of this video, it seems like Acer has added 3 new downloadable updates under "BIOS/Firmware" labeled as follows: "Update MRC code", "Enable HWP feature", and "Add new Panel's information to BIOS". Do I need to install any of these, or should I just install "Improve system performance" like you did?

minor ones yes, it wont get any worse. entry level IPS display, they had to cut corners somewhere. Still better than a TN display lol

Hey, so I have this computer and just suddenly today, it started getting FPS and lag drops, on all of my games. The only thing I did was update my computer and download a GeForce update. All of my games including fortnite are basically unplayable, since when I go in full screen, FPS drops to 20-50 and when I am in windowed it goes up to around 80-90, and I am usually at about 120 FPS in full screen. Any help?

Hey I know this video is old but will this fix any issues with the "PredatorSense" app thats predownloaded onto the PC? (the one where you can manually control the fans and check temperature of your PC and fan speeds etc). Because for some reason when I try to open the app (due to recent fan issues) to check if the fans are working properly, it just gets stuck in a loading loop and never opens.

Its pretty simple just go to nvidia.com and then drivers and download the drivers for windows 10 64bit and gtx1060 mobile.

Hey Luke, Should we install the Nvidia VGA drivers from Acer's site or is it OK to download them from Nvidia's site? Read that Laptops should always run OEM Drivers? Is it true? And thanks for all the Helios 300 videos. They are the reason I purchased this laptop.

Yes grab the newest ones from Nvidia, when the laptop first came out you had to use the Acer ones, but Nvidia has added the Helios 300 for quite a while now. Just use Nvidias newest.

+BlackCath Furever the battery is built-in so you can't remove it unless you take off the bottom of the laptop and unplug the battery directly from the main board. I wouldn't worry about it at all there's no problems with gaming while the battery is installed I'm not sure who started this rumor that it's bad for the laptop to play plugged in with the battery in but there are no problems with that. If in two years your battery doesn't hold a charge anymore you can always just order a replacement battery and install it yourself my advice is not to worry and just enjoy gaming

Hi, is there a way to update via a flash drive? I have a G9_592 and when it restarts the screen goes black and stays that way, until I do a hard shut down and start it again. This is actually why I am thinking of a bios update. But I think if I try updating the bios and when it restarts the screen go black again, and I do a hard shut down, it might cause some crazy problems. What do you think?

Just download the newest BIOS and it will let you know what current one you have when your run setup. Yes GeForce Experience is fine to update GPU drivers.

Hey so the laptop came and Im downloading the bios but noticed two things, my model is actually a predator ph317-51 i think cause its the 17 inch. Also the version of bios now available are 1.08 and 1.09 do i need to get them or am I fine with what I have? I am nervous as theres a message saying incorrectly upgrading bios can harm my computer.

The BIOS updates contain fixes put out by Acer, I would update if it were me, if you do not maybe nothing would happen but they do put them out for a reason.

yup just go to acer.com and then go to the product page of your actual model and then support.. under that should be the newest bios for your model.

Hi , I own a predator helios (G3-571) , The wifi keeps disconnecting randomly and when it disconnects , all other devices like my mobile and other devices also loses its connectivity . I have to restart the router everytime to access internet . I have the latest bios (1.10) and the latest qualcomm atheros driver (12.0.0.312) . I have also unchecked the power management setting as well as changed the power plan to "maximum performance" but still the problem exists . Please help

Depends on if you think the extra cash is worth a little more screen size. Other than that the 1TB drive isn't worth the 250 bucks for sure.

Hey galaxy, I'm pretty late to this but will updating BIOS help fps performance when playing games? I realized I have a G3-571 model and when playing overwatch on ultra it does hit around 60 fps but there's times where it dips down all the way down to 30 or 40. Is this normal since it's maxed on ultra or is this a rare occurrence?

Thank you for nice video. I am willing to buy one of these but I can't see any mic input. I think it has only one jack. So doest it mean that I can't use external mic? For example Steel Series headset has two jacks. One for audio one for mic. Can you please explain if you have any information?

you would have to use an adapter that takes the two and turns them into a combo jack.. they can be picked up for a few bucks on places like Amazon

When you run the newest bios update during the process it'll tell you what your current bios is. No it will not change any of your files

When you are booting up the laptop you can enter the bios and look or just download the newest bios and run the update and it will tell you during the process.

anyway i could get that LAptop to display to 144hz external screen? heard the display is lock at 60hz in the BIOS

+GTorchify the display on the Helios is not locked in the Bios it's because the actual display is 60 hertz so it's locked because the display itself runs at 60 hertz if you hook it up to an external monitor that runs at 144 Hertz then you will be able to push that with the GTX 1060

I have a predator helios 300 with rtx 2060 and I updated the BIOS to 1.08 but after the restart of the computer an error arose: DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION and when start windows in safe mode I have seen that there are now many bad drivers, many ... but before they were all Well, it was after the BIOS update ... What happened? Please help :'(

Just update the video card drivers at nvidia's site and run windows update, thats it.

+Cup Noodles the BIOS contains fixes directly from Acer I would advise using the newest bios. If you don't update the BIOS then any hardware issues that they have identified since release will not be addressed. That could be almost anything you'll have to read the bios notes to see what it addresses.

+Halil MAMATİ temperatures in the 80s can be normal as the components are rated to 100 c I wouldn't be too worried unless you see the nineties out of it but if you are worried you can undervolt the CPU with no hit in game performance I have a video on how to do that and you will drop few degrees that way easy

+Halil MAMATİ there is one hot spot above the keyboard that I noticed on my model that does get hot but it doesn't affect the laptops internals and you never put your hand there anyway so it never bothered me

Galaxy Tech Review, I´ve already install the latest version of Nvidia Driver in their web page. But the video card doesn´t run correctly, and when I open Geforce Experience, I have a Black Screen on this program, WHAT's HAPPENING?. I updated all the Drivers and BIOS/Firmware from the Acer home page.

Sounds like a problem with Nvidia GeForce Experience... Do games run and play? If so I'd say it's just a bad Geforce Experience install.. try uninstalling it and do a fresh install.

I discover the problem with the program WhoCrashed, TAKE NOTE, the Intel VGA driver in the Acer page it´s bad. I had to uninstall the Intel HD Graphics driver and search the latest version on the Intel web page.

What are the advantage of updated bios? And also can you help me answer my question? I just bought this laptop 1 week ago, when playing games I don't have any problem if it's plugged or connected to AC adapter, but once I unplugged it, I noticed some glitches on the graphics, is there any way to solve it? Or it's just normal?

The BIOS addresses various Hardware and software fixes fro Acer, I advise to upgrade to the newest BIOS. (May help with any glitches you are getting) Also when you play unplugged the battery power is not gonna be able to supply the full power to the GTX 1060 so when playing games leave it plugged n. When doing work or watching videos battery power is ok, thats pretty much how a gaming laptop works, it needs the AC power for the Graphics card.

Very new to PC gaming. Just purchased this laptop but haven't received it yet. What exactly is the purpose of updating the BIOS? Also, besides keeping up to date with the latest Invidia/Window drivers, anything else I should do before getting into using it?

The BIOS is released by Acer to address certain issues that may come up, you should always be running the newest BIOS from Acer. Other than that, yup just windows/nvidia updates as normal and you will be fine.

I forgot my bios password and I tried to flash it and I did get into a bios setting but still the the password is still there every time I restart. My question is if I update my bios predator 15 the password will remove?

+roderick Senora I would think not I would think that if you set a BIOS password even if you update the BIOS the password will remain the reason being if I was trying to hack someone's computer I could just flash the BIOS to get around a BIOS password and that's not very secure. I would suggest that you contact Acer about your issue and see what they suggest

+Error4-07-99 with the new NVIDIA drivers that were released in May all you have to do is just download them from Nvidia and install them. You no longer have to use ddu to clean the drivers out
