Your video came just in time. It’s been a rough year health wise for both my husband and I with more such challenges to face in 2024. I’ve always gone all out for the holidays but this year really didn’t feel like decorating for Christmas. Thanks to you I’m now in the process of unpacking decorations and once again feeling the joy of it all!

Your home is lovely, Leslie. And I understand the heaviness you must be feeling surrounding what you and Jason are going through. Remember it is OK to feel all the joy at the same time you are dealing with all sadness. It is possible to hold them both in your heart together. My husband is in memory care and watching him decline each day is really wearing me down. I admit that I'm struggling to find joy this Christmas as it will be the first time that he is not here with me to celebrate this blessed season. Thank you for your encouragement. Life is hard right now. Not only is the world growing dim, family dynamics can be so difficult when being a caregiver of elderly family members(my grandparents) and you just need the others to understand and they refuse and bring their drama into the already physically and emotionally stressful situation of watching your favorite people transitioning out of this world, hopefully into heaven. Love your decorations, I hope to have the energy to go all out too this year!

Wow, the struggle is real but I did work through it and my Christmas decor is even better than last year! I love my lights and greenery. I focused on adding things that remind me of the true meaning of Christmas. And I too love deer! We have 6-8 deer each evening come to drink from our livestock tank out back. So beautiful. Thank you for letting us into your home and life!

Hubby and I have a small, 50's Rancher style home with no place for garlands or decorating niches. It is always hard for me to imagine how to translate beautiful looks like yours into my little house. I came home from work to messy house and instantly I feel a little overwhelmed, and what I call the martyr syndrome set in. I thought, I need a sermon 😂 and then I see Leslie’s video. I most definitely had the doubt about Christmas this year. Of course it was my mind set that I couldn't decorate because I had a bad fall and broke my elbow. After a few weeks of being completely being sore I started to feel better. I stopped the pity party and set out to decorate what I can. I'm determined to get it done. Long story short thank for your kind advice. We all have struggles and with our prayers and faith in God we can move on. Your home is gorgeous and is a true testament to the person you are. TFS your Christmas tour and Merry Christmas to you and Jason.

I am glad you gave yourself permission to do less elaborate decorating this year, but I suspect I am not alone when I wonder how this is your version of 'simple' decorating!! If I am too stressed, busy, or tired, I don't need to push through. I need to find the compromise that will work for me. Maybe cutting back, getting help, or skipping something all together. I need to keep my sanity. Someone once reminded me that being a caregiver is a marathon, not a sprint, so I have to keep some gas in the tank. Another factor, as much as I might enjoy puttering around to put the decorations up, taking them down is a real chore! My go-to easy touches are Christmas pillow covers and throws, twinkle lights, chocolate boxes, lovely music and scented candles.

It's Thanksgiving time and everyone should be thankful for everything they have. It's so hard for some people at the holidays because there's a lot happening in their family. I think for me because of events in the world I feel like a much simpler very grateful Christmas. My son told me one year it looked like Christmas was puked all over my house. I went back to simpler times 10ft tree of course but cranberries & popcorn, cream colored candles, dried oranges & crystal snowflakes. I was missing the red so put on red ornaments but took them off along with taking down battery lights and berries off some of my shelves and my chandalier. I realized all the stuff was making me a bit anxious and was so much it didn't let the really nice pieces stand out. Your home is beautiful & cozy thanks for sharing it. ❤ How about adding a small string of battery lights, so it doesn't overtake the pretty wreath but makes it stand out. Love the blueberries!
