Good content. I appreciate you taking the time to walk through the circuit. Several years ago I was at a Modest Mouse show. A heckler had grabbed the attention of the lead singer. We couldn't hear the heckler in the general admission floor area. The rest of the show the lead singer kept addressing the heckler in between songs and sometimes during the songs. One heckler nearly ruined the show for a couple thousand people in the audience. Screw the hecklers. Just block the "you'll figure it out" commenters because you've got a great channel here. Keep it up.

I picked up a low power tweed Twin made by this mob. Got it in a hock shop at a good price. It's in minty condition although I think somebody's changed the stock speakers (Jensens) for Celestion Creamback 65 Watt jobbies. I've only got experience with AlNiCo Jensens and I didn't like 'em, so I consider the Celestions an upgrade. Anyway, I had a perfunctory look inside prior to buying it, and it looked all factory. No obvious 'fixes'. I must open it up again without time and sales pressure and see if there's anything exciting / dubious in there.

I mean, they're great amps, but the namesake seems to be a theme. This was a 2017 model, so I dare say perhaps things have improved a lot since. I just don't like the evasive defense tactics.

I think it's aimed at vintage restorations, Trav. Kinda like the monster Spragues that have worse specs than a modern cap 1/6th of their volume.

I read the comment about the 1k resistor in the original video. Each item they gave a reasoning/excuse for. With that context, the 1k resistor response of “That’s another Story, you’ll figure it out.” Seemed to indirectly acknowledge it’s not the right value and that you’d “figure out” the correct value. Perhaps I’m being too charitable to them and/or perhaps they should be more precise in their phrasing / word choice. Would love to see a full voltage chart between both SS and 5Y3 modes.

Yeah, maybe I took it the wrong way. I don't know. My swearing and stuff is mainly for comedy, so don't take me too seriously. But all the other stuff, it just all smells a bit fishy. I offered them to send me an amp for assessment if they'd like to show their current builds. Yet to hear back.

It would have been so easy for them to claim that this was simply a prototype and claim progress. I simply don't trust someone who would reply so imprecisely to the numerous issues here. There's no trade secrets in a champ clone, my dude. That branded cap sure does look sweeeeeeeet though!!

Granted, my amp builds from 7-8 years ago are pathetic. But I didn't sell them because I kinda knew that at the time. LOL!
