I've checked out a large number of beginner Jazz lessons on KZfaq and never before has a lesson been so efficient and easy to follow. No fluff, nothing extra to expand the lesson simply for the purpose of making them longer. Clear, concise and efficient. No obvious attempts to show prowess or technical ability. No unnecessary babble. This lesson is, dare I say, perfect. Thank you. I'm now a subscriber for as long as you provide lessons.

These are some of the best jazz guitar lessons on KZfaq. Jazz teachers often give too much information and I overthink it and get frustrated. With these lessons you get a short description and the music speaks for itself.

Everybody, sub, like, comment and share! This dude is incredibly good and these lessons are extremely helpful, clear, informative, and fun; they are especially pure gold for someone like me, who has no idea how to read music (tried and failed/gave up) and can play scales/modes/arpeggios with relative ease without being able to do much of anything in the way of difficult chording or composing. Thanks Achim!!

My mind is not capable of understanding names for individual notes. I really mean that. I am only capable of hearing notes and different pitches and that is how I learn. As soon as anyone breaks music down to mathematics and letters for notes I lose interest and fail to learn. Just play and then I learn. My comments are not directed at you Achim. Rather I am stating what is fact for me. I am happy enough with the way I am.
@zarlodious1
@zarlodious1 5 жыл бұрын
PeterDad60 either you have in 4 years stopped playing or have not progressed very far or you broke down and learned the notes there is no other way to musical mastery other than to learn it. The pros regardless of the story they may tell the public has an intimate and deep understanding of the notes names scales modes theories and has probably dabbled in experimental areas of crazy scales and odd theories.

I can see no reason to use tabs to learn this. This is a very clear presentation, it is easy to see what happens on the fingerboard. More, it is possible to play the video on half speed in KZfaq, just find that setup from the right corner of the KZfaq window. It is better to try to listen more and read tabs less.

So the D Dorian scale does not have a C#. It’s the second mode of the C major scale which has C natural. The highest note of that scale should have a fret in between the highest note and second highest note to create a whole step (C->D) instead of a half step (C#->D)
