All Sound waves are compression waves (pressure waves) regardless of frequency. Air movement (in one direction) would be DC. There is technically more air movement with the lower frequencies at higher SPLs. If you put fog in front of a speaker and generate a wave at a given frequency, you will find that lower freq. move more air. Your foam, with it's density and uniformity, is able to absorb the pressure, not slow or stop air movement. Resistance to air pressure change is the key to absorption. Different amounts of resistance help to absorb at different frequencies.

Resistance comes in many forms. We have pressure based and then molecular velocity or air movement. across surface areas. The thicker the foam, the more pressure is required to gain performance. The thinner foams and we make some that are 1/4" thick are all about air movement.

Pressure and velocity...Question, sir: Pressure of what? Pressure of air(gas)? Liquid or something else? How different is lower frequency sound from the higher freq one in terms of it physical nature., except its wavelength and cycles per sec?

Unwanted modal pressures are produced by two, four, and six parallel wall surface areas. It takes the whole wall to produce the modal issues. You can not treat an issue that is caused by the whole wall by treating just the corners. The corners only represent around 10% of the total wall surface area. This is a common practice in this industry where they take a half truth and make it sound like the whole truth. Even if the corners were the problem, you would never use foam as a treatment technology for a pressure based problem. Once again, a half truth masquerading as a complete truth.
