But it’s got such a lot of depth and detail. And I’m sure you can see something different very time you look at it. Thank you so much. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags

Another wonderful video, Gerda, with such interesting and colorful results! Were you happier with alcohol drops in the area over the acrylic medium or over the gesso? Would you choose to use one or the other next time? And thank you so very much for the English subtitles! Hearing you in German and reading what you've said is the best of both worlds. Thank you for sharing the advice ! I am a fan of both : your art and your tutorial videos, your techniques are fascinating ! I have 2 questions : 1) what do you do with your art on watercolour paper - I mean do you mount/ glue it to something sturdy to e.g. exhibit it ? 2) binder, medium ... I'm not sure what exactly you use. The simplest and most popular names but I'm not sure (I'm not from US, German products would be more familiar 'cause I'm from Poland). I only know acrylic paints are made of pigment and binder but what do you use here ? Medium - I think of e.g. Golden Gel Medium ......

Can someone confirm with me the American art supply store equivalent of Gerde's "binder." I'm mot sure if binder is gloss medium? Matte medium? Novaplex?
@bluearbor6775
@bluearbor6775 7 жыл бұрын
I need clarification as well. I wondered if she meant a clear gesso but then noticed she grabbed the binder bottle, or I even wondered if it was acrylic or watercolor grounds w/water. Matte medium would give it some tooth to grab good color I would think.
@JoanneSala
@JoanneSala 7 жыл бұрын
Okay, just found this on an art site...BINDER: the nonvolatile adhesive liquid portion of a paint that attaches pigment particles and the paint film as a whole to the support. So...this would mean clear acrylic.

I can be very critical of others, which is not my more redeeming traits, but it should tell others that I am also critical of myself. Usually, it just irritates people so I keep my criticisms to myself. I was wondering though, how do you feel when you overpaint a whole layer with a new wash? I usually cringe when people do this because it's like they undid everything they just did. But you made it work pretty well here. I like it.
@GerdaLipski

Hi, that's like life, you have to be brave to paint something over and sometimes there comes a moment of insecurity, how can it go on? But, of course, it opens up a new path that I can follow. What I paint over is not completely gone - it shimmers through, or shows itself in the haptic structures, it's still there ...

Hi from Texas. Could the cracks come from the brushstrokes with the Gesso and Binder? Also why did you seal the paper with two different sealers...Gesso and Binder. Thank you so much. PottheryMom
@GerdaLipski
@GerdaLipski 4 жыл бұрын
The cracks usually develop, when tension builds up in the contracting acrylic layer when the paint dries, then it tears sometimes. In this case, I find it even desirable. I partly primed the surface with Binder, partly only with Gesso. The drip technique reacts differently on both substrates, that was the intention. Greetings Gerda
