The Story of “Omir Oter” (oh-MEER oh-TEHR) The author of the music Renat Gaisin enthusiastically recalls how he suddenly came up with the tune during a night ride around Almaty. He did not even have to write it down as it would regularly “remind” about itself in his head for several months. According to Gaisin, “Omir Oter” did not come out until 2021 when it was finally released by Dimash Qudaibergen. When asked what inspired Renat to create such a heartfelt piece, the musician immediately recalls his father and his words of wisdom. Ever since he was a child, he has taught his son that one day he would have to write something serious. Something that would reveal the composer’s true soul. The composer himself calls “Omir Oter” an ode to life. It’s an ode to the life of any person who at least once thought about the meaning of their existence. Renat created the music arrangement together with Dimash and Yerlan Bekchurin. For days, they were working in the studio, thinking over everything they wanted to put into the sound of the future song. The lyrics author of “Omir Oter” is famous Kazakh poet Talant Aryngali. “Talant is one of the most popular poets of our days, he has written loads of beautiful lyrics for songs that became hits. He and I worked on “Omir Oter” for two or three days. Talent, as a genius master of words, heard me and Dimash and put his heart and soul into the lyrics,” Renat shared. “Omir Oter” Music Video The video was made at the request of Khabar Agency. As a result, the idea to make a gift to Dimash fans in honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan has become real. The story of creation and the message of “Omir Oter” video was revealed by its director Anna Oboyanskaya. From the first seconds, a viewer sees a large solemn theater hall. It is empty and only rarely people of different age and sex appear in it as a symbol of the fact that man enters this life and leaves it alone. What unites all the people in the hall is “Him”, the image of a man who is timeless. Dimash is a hero who celebrates life and lets the past and future of an entire nation pass through him. The future in this case is behind him in the form of a futuristic shining portal. Throughout the video, Dimash revolves between the ascetic, minimalistic black and white portal (the unknown future) and the colorful hall (the bright present and the rich past). The nation’s legendary past is brought to life by prominent historical figures. They are just as inspired as the generation of their coevals to listen to their descendant standing on the stage in front of them. "Omir Oter": Ode to Life “The video symbolically shows people of different eras, ages, genders, classes. These are both legendary personalities, who are long gone, but they left behind a great legacy, and simple young residents of modern Kazakhstan, who have yet to go their way and reach new heights,” Anna Oboyanskaya says.

The "ghost-like" people in the upper boxes of the theater are real historical or legendary figures from Kazakhstan's past: Өmir өter - Life through the Centuries. Historical characters from Dimash's music video -- Abylai Khan (1711 - 1781) Abylai Khan is one of the brightest figures in the history of Kazakhstan. ...the last independent Kazakh Khan of the Kazakh Khanate before the Khanate was absorbed into the Russian Empire. -- Abai Kunanbaev (1845 - 1904) ... a Kazakh poet, composer and Hanafi Maturidi theologian philosopher. ... He was also a cultural reformer -- Dina Nurpeisova (1861 - 1955) ... a famous female Kazakh composer from the Western part of Kazakhstan in the Uralsk area. -- Alash Orda. ...was the name of the provisional Kazakh government from 13 September 1917 to 1918. This provisional government consisted of twenty-five members: ten positions reserved for non-Kazakhs and fifteen for ethnic Kazakhs. -- Aliya Moldagulova (1925 - 1944) ... a Kazakh woman sniper of the Red Army during World War II who killed over 30 Nazi soldiers. She died in battle at 18 years old. Fought in hand to hand combat and led troops into battle.

Dear Cedric, when you watched this video, you said an interesting phrase: «Dimash is one of those artists who will just let you bring your own meaning to a song. I'm sure he knows what this song is about, but he invites all of us to think about it for ourselves and draw our own conclusions». You're great! I believe you have drawn the right conclusion. I completely agree with you. No one before you paid attention to the jagged edges of the TIME PORTAL, from which the young Dimash comes out. I've seen this clip many times and I haven't seen anything, but you've seen this important detail! Thanks for the interesting reaction.

Thank you Cedric for yet another great reaction to Dimash! Omir Oter, an Ode to Life, is about how fleeting life is; how one can leave his/her legacy to shape a nation (see the prominent Kazakh historical figures of the past); how past, present and future are deeply connected; how one should strive to live life honorably and fulfill one’s dreams because life is short: it passes in a blink of an eye. It was brilliantly shown at the end of the video with all those faces from different walks of life. Dimash, as an old man, reflecting on his own life and legacy, has such a powerful impact. This song has a deep meaning and resonates with me on so many levels. Whenever I listen to that song, I feel emotional, on the verge of crying, but I also feel a sense of peace... Dimash has already left a mark in people’s heart.

This song just always makes me tear up.. I think it may be because it's set in this magnificent theatre (actually Astana Opera house, where Dimash could have pursued his career as an opera singer).. But this is the setting that is so important in his life, except that it's empty, or there's just a few people in it, and then he's older and in the audience, supposedly when he is no longer performing.. Its all so unbearably poignant! He is just like we all are and our lives will flash by like it did through the eyes of the ever younger Kazakh faces.. Only the last face has the time to smile as she's so young, oh its all so incredibly moving! And yes his eyes are different to any other time I've seen them, I can't explain that look, but it's piercing.. Dimash is a wonderful mystery storyteller.. Still have those tears in my eyes..

Dimash is a spiritual person. Period. I love that he hopes that everyone achieves their dreams before their time here ends. Since I’m 74 I’m sure I looked at this from a different perspective than a 20 something does. So I hope all people use their life toward good and happiness! I love this wonderful man so much…like a beloved grandson. Thanks for your reaction…I knew would really be into this one for sure!

👉Now Dimash is on the big stage of the beautiful Astana Opera House, opened in 2013. This beautiful opera house could have been Dimash's future had he accepted an offer of engagement from the director of the opera house in 2016. Luckily for us, he declined. The song has a deep meaning. Reflections on the transience of life, its meaning ... Everyone can understand this song, even without translation. Dimash sings it softly, a little sadly and also courageously and powerfully. I didn't even realize that you can also sing thoughtfully. At the end of the song, the Kobyz, a traditional Kazakh folk instrument, dominates, but also the original violin of all people. With its meaning and its very own sound, it mysteriously connects all people, all generations. Which singer in the western world brings such themes to the stages of the world and the people are entranced, listen attentively and enthusiastically. “The video shows people from different eras, legendary people who left a great legacy and young people of modern Kazakhstan who still have to go their own way and reach new heights, ”said Anna Oboyanskaya, the director. Then an old man walks through an empty auditorium. The viewer realizes this is Dimash - Dimash as an old man. One day the artist will sit in the auditorium like an ordinary spectator and will not be ashamed of his past life... (Dimashnews) * The composer Renat Gaissin said that this song has been waiting for its interpreter for 11 years. He wrote it when his father died ... And now it's played by his friend Dimash. Renat Gaissin arranged with Dimash and Erlan Bekchurin. “Talant Aryngali is one of the most popular modern poets and writes beautiful lyrics to many hits. We worked with him for two or three days on the song 'Omir Oter'. When he listened to me and Dimash, he was a really talented and wise word writer who put his heart and soul into this text, ”said Renat. He also composed: * Qairan Elim - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZplpMeDpq-7kYE.html (Official MV 2020, Dimash directorial debut) (Performance vom 07.05.2021) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7Z_p9l4qpvZh4k.html * River of Love - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qMmbZdmSy5eskX0.html

About his eyes. A Chinese Professor once said, Dimash eyes reflect a very old soul in a very young body as if he has lived a thousand years and seen a lot of things in life. Throughout the video, Dimash revolves between the ascetic, minimalistic black and white portal (the unknown future) and the colorful hall (the bright present and the rich past). A grown-up man with a lifetime of experience and a young man full of energy and aspirations are one and the same. The old man in the audience looks at his young self on stage, and his whole life flashes before his eyes. This moment epitomizes the artist’s quote that one day he will also sit in the audience as a mere spectator, and he should not be ashamed of his life’s journey.

Dimash once said something like that in an interview - I can't quote exactly, but the meaning of it was - that the most important thing is to live your life with dignity, that when his youth, creative work and career ends - then the roles will change and also he will sit in an audience with people and he wants to be able to do it with a clear conscience and without shame. Somehow that's what he said, and when I watch this video it's like an illustration of these words by Dimash for me. Besides, the best demonstration of these words is his life, filled with work, respect and love for other people, family, fans, art and country. Dimash is an unique artist in every way. Great reaction as always dear Cedric, regards from Poland 🌼

About this masterpiece of a song and video... I copied here my comment on Dimash's channel under this clip (kind of long, so I didn't want to write all that again:) "I am so fascinated by the symbolism in this video. The mighty theater with its lights seems to be like life itself, in which individuals appear to reflect on their lives. And those empty chairs around, like a row of days lived ... A very powerful parable, it conveys the message of the song condensed into one image. Likewise, those shimmering characters from the past are a powerful reminder. The characters seem to follow the lives of present generations. Indeed, they are involved in the spirit. At the same time, they are higher up, elevated to icons whose lives inspire those who come after them. The past is always part of the present. And finally, glimpses of today’s people from older to younger ... The music gets more intense; life is also a series of themes mixed with each other, sometimes confusingly but vividly. Those short flashes make it very clear how life is ultimately short, fleeting. Dimash’s gaze in the last picture is very appealing. He seems to look directly at the soul of the viewer, forcing his message to get there. The sound of kobyz is very suitable here, it's so soulful, piercing. The video has an incredibly profound message. Everything that feels obvious but distant has been made painfully visible, personal. It comes close to the viewer, forcing to reflect, hurting with its truth. But it also leaves the experience of something magnificent, sublime. This is the power of true art."

Hello dear, "Omir Oter" means "Ode to Life". Ode to the life of anyone who has at least once thought about the meaning of their existence. In a solemnly empty theater hall, people occasionally appear as a symbol that people enter this life and leave it alone. Dimash is the man who glorifies life that passes by itself; the past and the future. The people's legendary past is remembered in the revived historical figures, showing people of different ages, genders. They are legendary personalities who are long dead but have left behind a great invaluable legacy for the young people of modern Kazakhstan. The figure of an old man, whose face is not immediately visible, walks through this empty hall, nostalgia read in his every move, as if he had already been here once. So we understand that this mature wise man with life experience "the old man" and a young man full of energy, dreams and aspirations are one and the same Dimash in the auditorium who looks at himself and his whole life runs before his eyes. This moment reflects the artist's quote that one day he will sit in the auditorium as a mere spectator, and he should not be ashamed of the path of life taken. The atmosphere of the theater starts to come to life, and more people emerge. At the same time, the Artist himself goes to his audience here and now. And this path does not end... Authored by the famous Kazakh poet "Talant Aryngali"

Hope this made a bit of sense 😉 Thank you, for being you! Greatings from an old Danish Dear

I agree about the mission... Dimash himself said, it's not only about making music - he wants to promote peace. I think it means peace in its broader sense, not only physical but a spiritual peace: a peace of mind, balance, spiritual well-being, understanding and respect for other people, different cultures and beliefs, humanity, love. Dimash's songs are often multicultural, universal and handle important human issues. There's a lot of compassion, always hope, no harsh feelings or judgment. Just beautiful humanism. I love his works for that. They make reflect things, ponder values, feel empathy. So we perhaps learn to be more compassionate and humane. If that's his goal, he is doing well. 🙏

Great analysis Cedric. It's about life, everything it means to live it, the footprints you left, the people you met, the characters you were inspired by for good. In the end you look back and evaluate the legacy you left, if you have done it right or wrong. That last scene is the tree of life where your story and the story of your offspring will be told. I leave you here a phrase from Dimash.. "Life is a great gift from the Creator. And art is an opportunity to live it with meaning." -Dimash Qudaibergen. Greetings from Panama.

Өмір Өтер/ Life is Short The pure sweetness of childhood, Full of happy times, No matter how hard you try, there's no coming back - Fate won't let you. And this day will remain far away. And the fantasy and the dream that fought - Everything will be a mirage. And time will stand still. Alas! Life will pass, it will pass, Like rivers flowing away But don't let your star go out When dreams seem unattainable. Alas! Life will pass, it will pass, Oh, world, all for nothing. But don't let your star go out When dreams seem out of reach. When fog covers desire When your luck is gone When you're lost in the wilderness, Is there a soul near you Who understands your soul? And the time of your blooming youth Will one day turn into a mirage And no matter how deceived, you followed it, But Your fate is in God's hands. Alas! Life will pass, it will pass, Like rivers flowing away But don't let your star go out, When dreams seem unattainable. Alas! Life will pass, it will pass, Oh, world, all for nothing. But don't let your star go out, When dreams seem out of reach. Music: Renat Gaissin Lyrics: Talant Argyngali lyricstranslate

👉The unusual stringed instrument you hear is an ancient Turkish stringed instrument and is called Kobys or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak. The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the prototype of all European string instruments. (Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages. Difference between Turkic and Turkish - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hteom9dzysm6lZs.html ) A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music. The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

I believe that is the splendid Astana Opera in Kazakhstan, the largest in Central Asia. Dimash performed there when he was younger, during a state visit from China. Also, that could have been Dimash`s "workplace" :) when, in 2016, the director of Astana Opera State Theatre, Toleubek Alpiyev, invited him to work as an opera singer, "because his voice ideally fits to performing baroque operas by Handel, Mozart etc". Luckily for us, he decided to pursue a career in neoclassical, and hold concerts for 15.000-40.000 people at once :)) The whole meaning of the song is in the lyrics : "Life passes, fleeting like a river, may your star not go out until your cherished dream is achieved" Living life with responsibility, aware of the gift that it is, and aware of eternity.

✨Ode to Life✨ This was a 30th anniversary gift for his country 🇰🇿 In 1936, it was established within the Soviet Union. Kazakhstan was the last of the Soviet republics to declare independence during the dissolution of the Soviet Union from 1988 to 1991. I love your unique perspective on Dimash's music videos. Thank you. It is a special treat for me to see one of your posts for that reason. Your musings about Hamlet and the timelessness of the theater reminds me of Act 3 scene i of Julius Caesar. "How many times hence/ Shall this our lofty scene be acted over/ In states unborn and accents yet unknown." Dimash's treatment of the complexities of time added to his exquisite voice make this one a favorite.

That is exactly how I felt. In this particular song, without the lyrics we're just guessing what's the song is about, but throughout the MV, Dimash's demeanor says that he has a serious message to convey. It makes me feel we're not really interested to know what he is singing about, if we not paying attention to that.

Hello from Canada. Thank you for your reaction and understanding of Dimash messaging. I am a follower (Dear) of Dimash performances for 5 years now and I love everything that he does. In Dimash performances the messaging is just as important and wonderful as the music. Dimash constantly reminds us of the human experience; that we need to treasure life and love those around us, past, present and future.

Great reaction as usual Cedric!! 👍 The story of the song "Omir Oter" The author of the music Renat Gaisin recalls with a smile how this melody suddenly overtook him in the car while he was driving through the evening Almaty. It didn't even have to be recorded, because it regularly "reminded" of itself, repeating itself in my head for several months. When asked what inspired Renat to create such a heartfelt composition, the musician immediately remembers his father. Since childhood, he inspired his son that one day he must write something serious. Something that would tell about the true soul of the composer. "Omir Oter", according to Renat Gaisin, has been lying "on the shelf" since 2009. After finishing the piece, the musician did not understand for a long time who could sing it as emotionally as the melody asked. And only in 2021, the song finally waited for its performer in the person of Dimash Kudaibergen. For himself, the composer calls "Omir Oter" an ode to life. An ode to the life of any person who has at least once thought about the meaning of his existence. Renat created the arrangement together with Dimash. Many years ago, the musician imagined exactly how this composition should sound. Every day they worked with the performer in the studio, thinking over everything they wanted to put into the sound of the future song. The author of the words "Omir Oter" was the famous Kazakh poet Talent Aryngali. "Talent is one of the most sought-after modern poets, he has written many wonderful lyrics to songs that have become hits. We worked with him on "Omir Oter" for two or three days. Talent, as a brilliant author of words, having heard me and Dimash, put his heart and soul into this text," Renat shared. КлипThe clip was shot by order of JSC "Agency "Khabar". As a result, the idea to make a gift to fans of Dimash's work in honor of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence has acquired real features. The story of the creation and the message of the music video "Omir Oter" was revealed by its director Anna Oboyanskaya. From the first seconds, a large solemn theater hall appears in front of the viewer. It is empty, and only occasionally people of different ages and genders appear in it, as a symbol that a person comes into this life and leaves it alone. Unites all the people in the hall "He" - the image of a person who is out of time. Dimash is a hero who praises life and passes through the past and future of an entire nation. The future in this case is behind him in the form of a futuristic shining portal. And throughout the clip, Dimash seems to rotate between an ascetic minimalistic black-and-white portal (unknown future) and a colorful hall (bright present and rich past). The legendary past of the people is recalled by the revived outstanding historical figures. They, like the generation of contemporaries, are inspired to listen to their descendant standing on the stage in front of them. "The clip symbolically shows people of different eras, ages, genders, estates. These are legendary personalities who have been dead for a long time, but they left behind a great legacy, and ordinary young residents of modern Kazakhstan who have yet to go their way and reach new heights," says Anna Oboyanskaya. The turning figure of the clip becomes an old man, whose face is not immediately visible. He walks through an empty hall, nostalgia is read in his every movement, as if he had already been here once. At the key moment, the viewer realizes that this is Dimash, but in a very old age. A mature adult man with life experience and a young guy full of energy and aspirations are one. An old man in the auditorium looks at himself as a young man on stage, and his whole life flashes before his eyes. This moment embodies the artist's quote that one day he will also sit in the auditorium as a simple spectator, and he should not be ashamed of his life path. The final frame of the clip brings the audience back to the atmosphere of the theater hall, which begins to come to life, and more and more people appear in it. At the same time, the Artist himself goes to his audience here and now. And this path does not end…❤️🎤🌹🌹👏👏

Hi Cedric 👋 I’ve just come off the livestream and checked my social media accounts and this quote was the first thing I saw - sent by Andrea Bocelli today: ‘All art about love - including songs, which are artisanal handicrafts too - must trigger emotions, becoming a companion and giving voice to the many people who see something of themselves in it’

As always, I love your reactions and all the info you share. When I first saw Omir Oter it seemed to be about life passing but, as I watched more, I came to believe it is also about how in youth the efforts to achieve our dreams leaves an impact on those around us, changing them in some way, and therefore leaves an eternal imprint. The people who were obviously “ghosts” from the past were very important people in Kazakh history and left their impact forever. Yes, everyone passes through life and strives to achieve their dreams and what they achieve is determined by God (fate) but no matter if they do, everyone changes the world around them just by living and that in itself is the meaning of a life. Sorry if I got a bit deep here. I was thinking the whole time about your recent video about finding your way in life and I think this addresses exactly that. Keep keepin’ on … have a blast with Pippin! ♥️☮️🎶🇰🇿🦅🇺🇸🕊🇺🇦

awesome as usual. When we leave this earth what will our lives have been for? Did we fulfill our destiny? Many of the characters were people from that past that helped to form what is Kazakhstan today from the time they were young until visions/ghosts of what they had become. I can't think of one song he has done that hasn't held deep meaning. The only one I don't like is Passion. This one is fascinating. I think Dimash for sure will have fulfilled his destiny!

I often think of something Dimash said in an interview when I watch this. He says he wants to keep his focus on being a "normal" person through all the fame he may achieve. People put him on a pedestal often and he always deflects that, saying his focus isn't to become a super star. It's just to give something beautiful to people, take them on a journey. Because, he says, one day he'll no longer be able to be on stage performing. When that happens, he'll be sitting in the audience like everyone else, and he needs to know he was the kind of person who can look his fellow audience members in the eye.
