Thanks for the links! Good job on this video too. We know you were busy filming so it’s great to see your Dimash reaction video again. This is his first time singing in Japanese and it’s perfect! Ikkanaide means “don’t go” and Dimash expressed it at first longingly to finally desperately pleading. Such an excellent artistry. May I suggest you his latest music video Omir Oter. You will find delight in that piece for its beautiful crafted videography.

Thanks for another amazing reaction. Here’s some background to the song. “Ikanaide (please don’t go)” Verse 1 Nothing, I can’t see anything I have been crying all this time Not because of sorrow Just grateful to feel your warmth Chorus Ah…. Please don’t go Please don’t go Please don’t ever let us separate Ah…. Please don’t go Please don’t go Stay with me forever Verse 2 Someday…..my heart will …..someday… Be somewhere far away Everything will remain only as a memory Though it’s better not to know It’s better not to know Ikanaide was used as the title song for a Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Lixianglan" about a Japanese woman Yoshiko Yamaguchi (12 Feb 1920 - 7 Sept 2014) who was born in China and accused of being spy. She was put on trial but was eventually set free and went to Japan, where she lived a long and peaceful life. In 1993, Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung adapted it into Mandarin with the meaning of the song different from that of the original. He called it Late Autumn / Autumn Strong. Dimash sang the Mandarin version (Autumn Strong) when he participated in the 2017 The Singer competition in China. He sang it in Episode 4 of the competition and it was his first time singing in Mandarin. Regarding Dimash’s Japanese performance, a Japanese reactor said that Dimash’s pronunciation was perfect. It was as good as a native speaker’s. It shows how much of a perfectionist Dimash is and how many hours he must have spent on his pronunciation and delivery. In addition, Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to “Ikanaide” praised Dimash’s performance and said: “I’ve heard ‘Ikanaide’ sung by foreign singers in their native language many times. Even though they all sing great, none of them seemed to quite capture the sound/reverberation and meaning of the original lyrics and perceive the emotions between the lines. In this song, the phrase ~ Ah, ikanaide~ is repeated several times in the chorus. Although they are the same exact words, each line has a different meaning. “But this is the first time anyone has sung it so beautifully in Japanese. I happened to find Dimash singing “Ikanaide” by chance. The first thing that surprised me was his crystal clear tone and his expressive voice that conveys the lyrics of the song.”

When the great Niccolo Paganini was asked what the secret of his skill was, he replied: "You need to feel very strongly yourself to make others feel." I think Dimash has figured out this secret and mastered it perfectly. It's his secret now. Thank you for your professional and emotional reaction.

You don't figure something like that out....it just is. Dimash as a person has depth of feeling and awareness innately. Music is feeling with sound. But the difference is that he has no fear to show it. He does not hold back the connection between himself and the listener. He gives 100% ....but with exquisite creative control. We all know the secret....just having the gift of freedom and comfort with one's soul to express it skillfully is rare.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. I absolutely love the ending of this. I love that cry from the heart, and when it's stops suddenly, your heart carries on over the cliff, like a real impact on the heart, then the soft humming, and almost missed note replaced by prayered hands. Poignant, elegant, feelingful, touching. A masterpiece. Lovely reaction

Great reaction and analysis, Cedric! I always enjoy your vids to Dimash, how you appreciate all the little details in his singing and performances, how you love all the qualities about Dimash!❤️ Dimash would love to act in a movie as we know, but up to now he didn't get offers he really liked, so he refused ... So maybe he is just waiting for a fitting idea from YOU! Millions of Dears would thank and love you for bringing a Dimash-movie to life!! For me Dimash could be in a historical movie, existential topics, dramatic story - to be honest I see him more in Asian surroundings... To introduce him to the western world maybe he could play a stranger in America in older times, so he can show all his abilities in riding, fighting, searching for a good life, being cool... And being a stranger his heavy accent in English would be excusable.😉 I would love to hear YOUR ideas for a movie with Dimash! Although he has got a great sense of humor, I can't really imagine him in a comedy (to conquer the world). But who knows... But my fantasy is greatly stimulated by Dimash as well although I haven't got a clue about movies... l take everything with him, just send Dimash a cool screenplay, he would be delighted! 😁 And me too! ❤️ Thank you, Cedric, hope to see you soon!

I watched this performance earlier today, not realizing I've heard him sing this song before, but of course, it's always a little different with Dimash and always stunning. I watched your reaction after a very very long day and it was a great way to semi-zone out and listen to Dimash and your reaction. I got so involved that I consumed almost an entire third of a party-sized bag of potato chips so that happened but I ate healthy all day, including 2 hot mugs of ginger orange lemon tea with natural Maine honey from a guy my grammie knows, so I feel justified in my weak moment of gluttony. Anyway, enough about chips and back to Dimash. I will never get over how amazing he is. Dimash truly is the best singer in the entire world. I've watched so many of his music videos and live performances, and I've watched them all many MANY times, but I still get blown away every single time. I tried earlier to listen to Dimash while working on a miserable essay. That didn't work. I just sat there in awe while ignorng the task at hand. So I had to listen to rain falling or something dull to serve as bgm so I could ACTUALLY get stuff done. Back once more to Dimash, I can't wait for the next reaction. I know you're crazy busy and trying to space out reactions to all the people you regularly check out, as well as new groups (btw, you should check out Ateez's mv The Real), but at some point you should react to Dimash's perfromances on the Chinese show Singer from 2017. Also, just for fun I would love love love for you to react to this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdCTaLqFuq-XkYE.html that has a compilation of insane Dimash vocal moments from all different performances and things. It is the coolest video and will leave you SHOOK beyong normal Dimash shookethness.

@@DanielSanchez-mo2cw Dimash is quite young, his voice is still maturing. However, Dimash has a very voluminous and rich timbre - check his duet 'Thousand Miles a Common Dream' where he sings with another tenor, a pupil of Placido Domingo (41). There's a huge difference in their roundness & richness. Dimash is much younger (27), but his voice is just magnificent. Of course, both are excellent in their own way.

Excellent Cedrix as always and we are pleased that you are working and busy in your profession. I can tell you that this Japanese Jazz festival requires that the songs be recorded (due to the pandemic, it is not being done live) in one take, so there are two Japanese cameramen in the studio with Dimás. He is singing for the first time a song in Japanese. Ikanaide which means "Don't go", written in 1989 by Mr. Goro Masui and original music and interpretation by Koji Tamaki. Later, the Chinese version in Mandarin "Autumn Strong" was released, sung in 2017 by Dimash in The Singer program in 2017, but with some differences in the lyrics of the song (by the way, I also sang for the first time in Mandarin with this version and won multiple awards that year). This new interpretation in Japanese caused such a stir in Japan that the composer himself Mr. Masui declared on social networks that this song is very difficult to sing but that Dimash exactly expressed all the feeling of the song and that it has been the best interpretation of an artist. foreigner and that he had also done it with a perfect accent that seemed sung by a native Japanese. Dimash is a genius and we hope that one day he will come to Broadway and that you can work with him on stage and in movies, it would be a total success. Greetings from Panama.

This was another very enjoyable reaction and thought-provoking and interesting analysis. This is quickly becoming one if not the favorite Dimash performance for me and it invokes a very visceral response in me, just as "Ave Maria" did. Dimash sang “Ikanaide” for the Tokyo Jazz Festival in January of 2021 from what looks like his studio at home. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash’s pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is “expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese” and that he does not only perfectly pronounce Japanese but “expresses Japanese…with Japanese emotion.”. Goro Matsui who wrote the lyrics to “Ikanaide” posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way. Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series “Farewell, Li Xianglan'', filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress, and singer during World War II, who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched. She resettled in Japan where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years. In 1990, “Ikanaide” was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title “Late Autumn”. In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn", with lyrics written by Daryl Yao. Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 “I Am A Singer” competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong". This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong. Here are the original lyrics to “Ikanaide”: Ikanaide (ee-kanaa-eedayy) Please Don't Go Away by Koji Tamaki Nothing visible, nothing I have been crying throughout Not because I feel sorrowful But because of the delight of feeling your warmth Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Please don't ever ever let us separate Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Let's remain this way Someday your heart will be somewhere afar That everything will turn into memory Though it's better not to know Though it's better not to know Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Whenever it is, don't let us separate Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away Let's remain this way

Hi. Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction/analysis as usual. This is the Japanese version of Autumn Strong. Spectacular performance by Dimash, as Japanese is a difficult language. I have watched several reactions to this song, and have yet to hear anyone mention how significant, to me at least, it is that he closes by bringing his hands together, touching his face and slightly bowing, giving the sign of respect distinctive to the Japanese people. I am always amazed at the humility of this magnificent man! Keep up the good work. See you next time.

And btw, this song is about a true story, about a Japanese woman who was living in China, but got deported when war broke and was found out to be Japanese. This is her husband's plea (Ikanaide means "don't go"). They never saw each other again. Dimash has been singing this song in Chinese since The Singer, but this is the first time he has performed it (or any other song) in Japanese. You can find many performances of the Chinese version, the English title is Late Autumn, but most often Autumn Strong (which is a mistranslation that keeps on living its own life :D. Also the lyrics have a slightly different tone in the Chinese version, in case you end up watching that.)

This helped me with Japanese pronunciations-every vowel is pronounced 💜 Edited to add: Each IKANAIDE is supposed to be sung with a different emotion. The lyricist said that Dimash was the first non-native Japanese singer who understood that and did it to perfection. This song is a Masterpiece. A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿

I'd watch for sure and who knows, he or someone in DimashAli, may hear you❗ 2. As always, I sincerely loved your detailed analysis. I have said this before but you are almost as mind blowing as Dimash. Your insight and understanding of what Dimash is trying to convey is just as genius as Dimash’s ability to create this exquisite performance. Not a single other reactor even attempts to analyze like you. “Boosted reviews” who also used a photography’s perspective was similar but doesn’t do reactions anymore which devasted me but now I have you. I learn so much incredible stuff from you it is amazing. Even though Dimash has the best vocals in the world, it is all the extra things he does that we are not even aware of that just takes him to a whole new level of vocal genius that we can not even comprehend. I am extremely grateful for you making it possible for me to understand these things so I can appreciate him in way that I would never have without you. Ikanaide means please don’t go. I have watched reactions from Japanese guys who say is Japanese is flawless as well. My only complaint is you just do not do enough Dimash. I hang out for your reactions and it’s so hard waiting. I would rather listen to you than anyone else just talking about his voice. Most of them say similar basic stuff. Please please do more. I would be a patreon of the highest level but no way could I justify it to my husband who can’t appreciate Dimash, won’t give him a chance past one song, because he is to conditioned to commercial mainstream music. Thank you. You are awesome 💕💕💐💐

First things first Cedric, that colour of shirt/sweater looks great on you! Loved the colour. Now, your reactions are stellar and glad to see you introducing Dimash to new dears. This was Dimash’s first time singing in Japanese. The first time we heard this melody was when Dimash sang this song in Chinese as Autumn Strong. Gorgeous either way, but I believe the Japanese matches the subject better - although either works. Always enjoy reading your footnotes post production - fun when you catch yourself. Great reaction and Cheers from the home of the truck convoy protest.

Good to see you back and well.... Dimash Q- Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021 Ikanadei - Don't Go Saying "It's nothing" I held my tongue Though really I wanted to stop for a minute But you walk ahead gently with quick steps And I just watch on You ride on the last train and leave me behind I begin to run and the ground slowly starts to move away I can't cry, I can't cry, but really I want to tell you "Don't go" You disappear into the distance, leaving me behind I can't see you at all, and the night crumbles away I can't cry, I can't cry, but really I want to tell you "Don't go" When the festival ends, as always I knew that the unchanging night would come But you looked more amorous that ever And I just watched on Only time moves along, leaving me behind The road home is dark, but I think I'll be fine by myself Lit by the streetlights, shadows emerge This is solitude You disappear into the distance, leaving me behind And some other time, the night will show through I can't cry, I can't cry, but really I want to tell you "Don't go" I can't cry, I can't cry, but really I want to tell you "Don't go"

This was an amazing reaction! I knew what I was feeling in response to all the things you told us about and now I know why. This performance blew me away. I should know by now to not have expectations before one of his performances but, because this is the same music as Autumn Strong with different lyrics, I thought I knew somewhat and I was so wrong. Ikanaide means “don’t leave” from what I’ve been told. I also watched a Japanese reactor and he said Dimash enunciated the words perfectly which, according to him, is very difficult for those who don’t speak it. Unlike many other languages Japanese has very soft enunciations so, while singing the way he does and physically portraying the emotion and meaning of the song he also had the control over his enunciation of the Japanese language, which is beautiful. Thank you so much for breaking this down for us. I always learn so much from your reactions. ♥️☮️🎶🇰🇿🦅🇺🇸

I somehow think actors who feel they have to overact to convey emotion or intent can learn a lot from Dimash about letting silence and stillness speak (if that makes any sense to you. Actually, I'm guessing you know exactly what I'm talking about. Not because you do it - because you don't - but because you must have seen it during your career). Anyway, carrying on watching. I'll probably edit this loads more before I'm done watching your video lol. Okay, I'm back. The way he interprets this song is a mastery in restraint, being absolutely mindful and respectful of the original Japanese version. This young man......honestly. A strange language and yet interpreting the meaning and lyrics so accurately. Those heavenly notes could have been overpowering but for his stylistic choice to sing away from the mic and instead, deliver this pure, crystalline sound.
