Legendary actor Donald Sutherland, who starred in scores of movies ranging from "M*A*S*H" and "Ordinary People," to "National Lampoon's Animal House" and "The Hunger Games," has died at the age of 88. Kevin Frazier looks back on his life and career.

He was also great as Merrick, Buffy's watcher in the 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer feature film. Buffy and M*A*S*H were successfully spun off into two of my favorite TV shows. Rest in peace, sir. Thank you for sharing your acting talent.

I wish he had made a visual cameo as the older Snow one final time at the end of "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" film adaptation (aside from hearing his famous line from "Mockingjay Part I"), perhaps showing a hitherto unseen moment of him contemplating his past with Lucy Gray when he first sees Katniss volunteer for her sister or something along those lines.

Oh Cavin... my dad... I cried when you hugged Conrad and me in front of a house in Lake Forest, IL, after Beth left for Houston. I remember that you said: "Don't admire people too much. They'll disappoint you sometimes." I sometime remember this phrase to this day. I loved the way you speak and the tone of your voice. I am so sad that both of parents, i.e., Mary Tyler Moor and Donald are now gone forever. My deepest condolences.

An exceptional actor with an exceptional range and for a VERY long time. Fun trivia: Some will remember his small role in "Animal House." He did that as a favor for his friend, director John Landis, because the studio insisted the cast have at least one "star." Sutherland had the choice of $35,000 or 2% of the gross. He didn't think the movie would do well and took the cash. The movie went on to gross 141 million.

Especially standing alongside Clint Eastwood and Telly Savalas staring down that German Tank 🪖🇺🇸🎥 ( and with a Spaghetti Western Theme playing in the background ) 🤠🐴🎼. He was also memorable in “Space Cowboys” 🚀🤠🎥 ( 2000 ) with Clint Eastwood, James Garner, and Tommy Lee Jones 👍👍👍

I liked Donald Sutherland's act in the western movie Forsaken along with his son, Kiefer. It was a great movie with the two Sutherland's together and I also liked his role in the Backdraft movie as well. He had some other cool movies as well but my best movie with him is definitely Forsaken. Donald Sutherland will be missed.

Sexiest Actor of Hollywood. Why? In an industry that makes violence as common as taxes, his extended loving sex scene, in the 1973 film "Don't Look Now" with the amazing actress Julie Christie, was a rare and elegant cinema gem when most romance scenes only hint at the coming action.

😖There is one scene that forever became seared into my brain.😢 I don't know the movie, but I stumbled upon it while channel surfing - it was a scene where his charachter was caught in a compromising position with a heavyset sweaty woman. A young boy saw them & he then tried to assure the child that it was a game & started twirling the little boy around, the little boy was laughing and then the man's expression turned evil and he started to twirl the little boy and the little boy's head hit the wall, over and over🥺🥺 I stopped watching & turned it off! That's all I remember with EVERY characther he played.😠
